2. Enter the path by click the directory

OBSERVED RESULT
It reports
"/home/afeather/3abb6677af34ac57c0ca5828fd94f9d886c26ce59a8ce60ecf6778079423dccff1d6f19cb655805d56098e6d38a1a710dee59523eed7511e5a9e4b8ccb3a4686/3abb6677af34ac57c0ca5828fd94f9d886c26ce59a8ce60ecf6778079423dccff1d6f19cb655805d56098e6d38a1a710dee5956

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open dolphin in /tmp
2. Open console window
3. [nice@politemadness tmp]$ mkdir test_dir
[nice@politemadness tmp]$ cd test_dir/
[nice@politemadness test_dir]$ touch test_file
[nice@politemadness test_dir]$ mkdir test_dir_2
Screenshot_20240101_144702.png is from immediately after this.
Screenshot_20240101_144846.png is a few minutes later.
OBSERVED RESULT
After creating files in a directory, as well as a subdirectory, dolphin does
not display a open directory caret so that the files and directories can be
accessed. You have to use F5 to refresh or sometimes after a while (30
seconds?) it finally displays a caret.

Other times (not this test case), opening a directory, it doesn't always draw
the caret for all the subdirectories that have something in them.

Also, if you delete the file and subdirectory (in the console), the caret does
not disappear. You can even click the caret and it will rotate 90 degrees but
it won't disappear.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be a open directory caret when a directory has something in it and
it should disappear when the directory is empty.

OBSERVED RESULT

SUMMARY
When full-screen software returns to a non-full-screen state, the panel does
not update the available screen size after reapplying floating margins.

I use the krohnkite script to implement tiling, which has some spacing at the
edge of the screen. The latteddock layout has a top panel and some floating
spacing from the screen. When the window is maximized, the top panel of
lattedock will close the floating spacing. When the window is maximized, The
floating spacing is restored when restored, but krohnkite does not seem to
receive events for changes in available screen space, so it does not adjust the
position and size of the window causing the window to stick to the panel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the panel to "Hide floating spacing for maximized windows".
2. Full screen one window.
3. No longer full screen that window.

OBSERVED RESULT
Tile windows have no top margin.

EXPECTED RESULT
Tile windows have normal top margins, just like full-screen windows did before.

Please add the ability to use a separate icon theme for the status icons, while
using another theme for everything else, for example, I like using the Papirus
Icon Theme, but it's system tray icons aren't or haven't been properly
implemented (for example Bluetooth icon is the Bluetooth network folder, and
battery icon doesn't show percentage left), but I really like Breeze's system
tray icons. Having a way to use separate system tray icons would help with icon
themes that don't apply and allow for more customization.

Kdeconnect settings, selecting my phone and disabling the system volume plugin

commented and merging a fix.

Sure, I've uploaded it to mega as it's bigger than 4Mb:
https://mega.nz/file/hxIVXazR#LvzLng3je5F2YwnroKrNCY9YxlAWtBbGKUzYSE2sBfc

I didn't know if I should attach to the user process of kwin or the root one so
I attached to both I hope that's ok.

Not to mention the whole argument of where you should put that config file. In
theory config files should not under any cirtumstance have identifiable
information in them. So do you put it in ~/.config or ~/.local/share ? I'm not
against per-folder settings being an options but not the default under any
circumstance. If I set the view mode to details or icons I want it everywhere.
Though in my case I almost always use details view, as it's way more useful.
Especially if you name your files properly you would never need the icons view.

Personally I prefer to be able to stop it all together. I love how in Thunar
the view mode, and everything else is global. Things like per-folder view
preferences or other settings on a per-folder basis cause a messy config file
in the long run and confusion.

Bug ID: 479229
Summary: The colors offered in system settings aren't being

Classification: Plasma
   Product: Breeze
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor

Visual representation of the issue

When you choose one of the offered accent colors in System Settings, it seems
like the color is slightly translucent. If light theme is chosen, the selection
background and other elements that use that color are pale, if dark theme is
chosen, they are somewhat darker.

A good way to see the difference is to choose a custom accent color and then
also manually edit a color scheme, changing elements like Selection Background
and Focus Decoration to the same color.

Improve the unread marker behaviour

The fixes include:
- improving the timer to make it more reliable
- making sure a read marker is added when changin rooms, this is needed when
the messages have already been loaded.
- increase the default timer to 10s to avoid the read marker disappearing and
being re-added when a message arrive in quick succession.

symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***
When using a GMail account with a period in the account name, the OAuth
dialogue sends the account name without the period to google, if you correct
the account name then you can log in and KMail will successfully verify,
however this will then cause you to have to repeat this every time you reboot
your computer.

The IMAP Account settings window correctly displays the period, the issue seems
mostly related to how KMail Authenticates with Google's OAuth

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use the account wizard to log into a gmail account with a period in the
name
2. Look at OAuth dialogue
3. Reboot System and notice that log in is required again

OBSERVED RESULT
Account Name is missing the period, and reauthentication must occur on system
actions such as reboots and suspend/resume

EXPECTED RESULT
Account Name has period and does not require reauthentication

The digiKam support webpage (https://www.digikam.org/support/) has a broken
internal link.

In the first section ("Getting help") there is a link "subscribe" that doesn't
work anymore. The link points to the old section name #mailinglists, while the
section has been renamed and the correct link is now
#mailing-list-subscription.

This exemplifies why ID values (and anchor names) should *not* be autogenerated
when the user-facing text content changes.

Yes, using just one thread for this huge files is the bottleneck.
In my local test backing up a 65GB file took more than 5 hours. Just for a
cross-check, the "xz" tool alone would also take that long (when not
explicitely told to use multiple threads).

The current implementation uses the KDE class KCompressionDevice, which seems
to not leverage multiple threads,
so this needs to be implemented either in kbackup or in some way in the KDE
classes used.

I suggest you better don't use compression when having huge files.

Hi. Thanks for your report - jour style is fun to read :-)

I tried to reproduce this issue here, but using a smaller file with ca. 65GB
and some other smaller files.
The backup completed here after more than 5(!) hours...
But the backup archive did correctly include all files, also the large one!

Also checking the source and I can't see how a file would not be included in
the tar file without an error given.

Just to be sure: How did you check the content of the archive after the backup?
Does "tar -tvf " also not show the large file?

This is my first time doing so, so I may need some pointers.
Would I need to install a different distro/desktop environment to accomplish
this task?

[Discover] [Bug 479226] New: Resizing issue in KDE Discover

2023-12-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479226

Bug ID: 479226
Summary: Resizing issue in KDE Discover
Classification: Applications
   Product: Discover
   Version: 5.91.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fd5kgg...@mozmail.com
CC: aleix...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 164577
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164577&action=edit
plasma crash file, please let me know I this is not what i should be submitting

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch discover in fedora rawhide (the kionite variant)
2. Attempt to resize the application

OBSERVED RESULT
Initially I tried to resize it since it looked like the bottom was cut off
(wasn't sure if that was a design change or if the bottom was actually cut
off).

However, the application became really small, teleported to the top of the
screen with the top cut off, and went into a mobile like interface. I got a
little bigger, but anytime I try to make big enough to change from the mobile
interface to the desktop one, it crashes. Both of these seems to the same
issue, so I'm including them in the same ticket. I can also include a screen
recording of my steps (or something else) if that will help.

I'm attaching a .kcrash file since it seems to be a stacktrace of some sort. I
apologize if that's not it, if so, please let me know what I need to submit.

EXPECTED RESULT

On what are you running ? (processor, linux version, ...).

The difference between the first and second vgdb trace is that in the second
case,
the threads are blocked in a system call, and vgdb has to do more complex
operations to
wake up valgrind.

Also, you launch valgrind with --vgdb-error=0.
This allows to do some gdb/vgdb operations before startup.
What is the reason for this in your case ?

If you put two -d options, vgdb will output more debugging info.

Also, you might add debugging options (-v -v -v -d -d -d) at valgrind side to
see what happens there.
