[dolphin] [Bug 479240] New: Dolphin does not always show subdirectories/files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479240 Bug ID: 479240 Summary: Dolphin does not always show subdirectories/files Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 23.08.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: panels: folders Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: mothli...@fastmail.fm CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 164588 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164588&action=edit Screenshot after creating a sub directory SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open dolphin in /tmp 2. Open console window 3. [nice@politemadness tmp]$ mkdir test_dir [nice@politemadness tmp]$ cd test_dir/ [nice@politemadness test_dir]$ touch test_file [nice@politemadness test_dir]$ mkdir test_dir_2 Screenshot_20240101_144702.png is from immediately after this. Screenshot_20240101_144846.png is a few minutes later. OBSERVED RESULT After creating files in a directory, as well as a subdirectory, dolphin does not display a open directory caret so that the files and directories can be accessed. You have to use F5 to refresh or sometimes after a while (30 seconds?) it finally displays a caret. Other times (not this test case), opening a directory, it doesn't always draw the caret for all the subdirectories that have something in them. Also, if you delete the file and subdirectory (in the console), the caret does not disappear. You can even click the caret and it will rotate 90 degrees but it won't disappear. EXPECTED RESULT There should be a open directory caret when a directory has something in it and it should disappear when the directory is empty. [lattedock] [Bug 479239] New: The panel does not update the available screen size after reapplying floating margins
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479239 Bug ID: 479239 Summary: The panel does not update the available screen size after reapplying floating margins Classification: Plasma Product: lattedock Version: git (master) Platform: OpenMandriva OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com Reporter: blacksp...@outlook.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 164587 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=164587&action=edit OBSERVED RESULT SUMMARY When full-screen software returns to a non-full-screen state, the panel does not update the available screen size after reapplying floating margins. I use the krohnkite script to implement tiling, which has some spacing at the edge of the screen. The latteddock layout has a top panel and some floating spacing from the screen. When the window is maximized, the top panel of lattedock will close the floating spacing. When the window is maximized, The floating spacing is restored when restored, but krohnkite does not seem to receive events for changes in available screen space, so it does not adjust the position and size of the window causing the window to stick to the panel. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set the panel to "Hide floating spacing for maximized windows". 2. Full screen one window. 3. No longer full screen that window. OBSERVED RESULT Tile windows have no top margin. EXPECTED RESULT Tile windows have normal top margins, just like full-screen windows did before. Things like per-folder view > preferences or other settings on a per-folder basis cause a messy config > file in the long run and confusion. Not to mention the whole argument of where you should put that config file. In theory config files should not under any cirtumstance have identifiable information in them. So do you put it in ~/.config or ~/.local/share ? I'm not against per-folder settings being an options but not the default under any circumstance. If I set the view mode to details or icons I want it everywhere. Though in my case I almost always use details view, as it's way more useful. Especially if you name your files properly you would never need the icons view. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 477187] Option to disable calculating the size and number of items in child directories

When navigating -nearby- directories with thousands of > files, my dolphin will lock up entirely until it is able to scan through all > of them. Granted, this happens while accessing a remote directory mounted > using sshfs-fuse. But even still, when testing with PCManFM and Thunar, > theyhave no loading or performance issues with navigating around the same > folders. > It would be great if we had a way to disable the scanning behavior or > perhaps manually initiate/omit specific folders. The existing functionality > works fine as long as there are not a crazy amount of files in nearby > directories. Perhaps an adjustable limit to how many files it tries to scan > before giving up? Personally I prefer to be able to stop it all together. I love how in Thunar the view mode, and everything else is global. Things like per-folder view preferences or other settings on a per-folder basis cause a messy config file in the long run and confusion. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** When using a GMail account with a period in the account name, the OAuth dialogue sends the account name without the period to google, if you correct the account name then you can log in and KMail will successfully verify, however this will then cause you to have to repeat this every time you reboot your computer. The IMAP Account settings window correctly displays the period, the issue seems mostly related to how KMail Authenticates with Google's OAuth STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. In my local test backing up a 65GB file took more than 5 hours. Just for a cross-check, the "xz" tool alone would also take that long (when not explicitely told to use multiple threads). The current implementation uses the KDE class KCompressionDevice, which seems to not leverage multiple threads, so this needs to be implemented either in kbackup or in some way in the KDE classes used. I suggest you better don't use compression when having huge files. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[valgrind] [Bug 479191] vgdb is blocked after several tries
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479191 Philippe Waroquiers changed: What|Removed |Added CC||philippe.waroquiers@skynet. ||be --- Comment #2 from Philippe Waroquiers --- On what are you running ? (processor, linux version, ...). The difference between the first and second vgdb trace is that in the second case, the threads are blocked in a system call, and vgdb has to do more complex operations to wake up valgrind. Also, you launch valgrind with --vgdb-error=0. This allows to do some gdb/vgdb operations before startup. What is the reason for this in your case ? If you put two -d options, vgdb will output more debugging info. Also, you might add debugging options (-v -v -v -d -d -d) at valgrind side to see what happens there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
