[plasmashell] [Bug 479035] Clipboard behavior should follow typical/general expectations of history/privacy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479035 S changed: What|Removed |Added CC||mser8...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from S --- You can disable the history by making it store 1/0 entries and unchecking storing across sessions. If someone has access to your machine, you have MUCH larger privacy concerns than clipboard leakage. For instance, complete access to your files. To many, clipboard history is a useful feature. On Windows, it's a commonly requested one (Type "Windows clipboard" into a search engine and look at the completions). The fact that history is stored is very obvious from the system tray indicator and if a user has privacy concerns over currently stored data, they can clear it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The issue occurs during cleanup/teardown after running `kscreen-doctor -o` With nvidia (proprietary) drivers, the issue could be demonstrated easily (almost every other execution attempt) With nouveau or amdgpu drivers, the issue is much less regular, perhaps after 100 or so iterations. The crash errors range from: `malloc_consolidate(): unaligned fastbin chunk detected` `Segmentation fault (core dumped)` `malloc(): unsorted double linked list corrupted` `corrupted double-linked list` See attachments. [digikam] [Bug 479711] Find new items at startup very slow (Mac)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479711 --- Comment #3 from at...@electropositive.net --- I've enabled debug and console logging thank you. Running digikam like this, and adding files from a local HDD, the find new items got to 100% quite quickly, but it's stuck on 100% now and presently there are a lot of these in the logs spinning by. One for every file I assume. ``` digikam.metaengine: Loading metadata with "Exiv2" backend from "/Volumes/5TB/pictures/Family/Masters/2015/January/Trip to Whangarei/_MG_5465.CR2" digikam.dimg: "/Volumes/5TB/pictures/Family/Masters/2015/January/Trip to Whangarei/_MG_5465.CR2" : "RAW" file identified digikam.database: Adding new item "/Volumes/5TB/pictures/Family/Masters/2015/January/Trip to Whangarei/_MG_5465.CR2" digikam.database: Recognized "/Volumes/5TB/pictures/Family/Masters/2015/January/Trip to Whangarei/_MG_5465.CR2" as identical to item 11650 digikam.database: Scanning took 39 ms digikam.database: Finishing took 0 ms ``` These files were on the NAS and are now on a local drive, so I think what it's doing is matching them up in the cache? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479711 --- Comment #2 from at...@electropositive.net --- Thanks for the reply. The unstable comment is not at all related to the performance of the non scanning parts of digikam, just that to manage my media, I need to know that the media is up to date, and to know that I have to wait hours for a scan to finish. I'm sure the logs will provide something useful. I'm just going to check my sidecar (XMP) settings as I do have sidecar files, perhaps even reset to default somehow, but even so I don't think that would make it slow to over an hour right? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 479701] Please implement wlr-gamma-control and wlr-output-* protocols to enable compatibility with tools that use them
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479701 --- Comment #3 from Zamundaaa --- We could upstream the dpms protocol, but doing the same with the output management one would just make the flexibility problem worse. For night color we use dbus (because it still has to support X11), we may change its architecture significantly to add some related features soon-ish, and it works very differently from how wlroots compositors handle this, so I don't see any chances of upstreaming that either. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I've dumped the details of my investigation below, as I don't now how to fix the issue correctly myself. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Launch JetBrains Toolbox in a Plasma 6 session. OBSERVED RESULT A placeholder icon is displayed in Plasma's system tray. EXPECTED RESULT The JetBrains Toolbox logo is displayed. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240111 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.249.0 Qt Version: 6.6.1 Kernel Version: 6.6.10-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION • Here: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/201436dda62f46d70df120cd113bf3eaefff1116/applets/systemtray/package/contents/ui/items/StatusNotifierItem.qml#L35 — the icon theme path is lost, this name is only tried against the systemwide icon theme. • The QIcon has the correct image because it is loaded with a configured KIconLoader: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/201436dda62f46d70df120cd113bf3eaefff1116/applets/systemtray/statusnotifieritemsource.cpp#L250-275 • But because loading icons by name is prioritized over QIcons, it's not used. To solve this properly, Kirigami.Icon would need to be configured to look at `model.IconThemePath`, but it currently has no "themePath" property. To add it, this function would need to accept a list of paths or a KIconLoader, then pass it on to KDE::icon (where the latter is already an optional argument): https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/qqc2-desktop-style/-/blob/3f5d157c923ad8eca85b592e80531703fafd47e3/kirigami-plasmadesktop-integration/plasmadesktoptheme.cpp#L248 But it's an override, the declaration is in Kirigami, and Kirigami does not depend on KIconThemes, so KIconLoader is probably not an option. On the other hand, if we pass paths, we'd have to create a KIconLoader from them every time, which is probably too expensive (I think every KIconLoader creates its own cache). A hack would be: ``` return model.IconName.length > 0 && model.IconThemePath.length == 0 ? model.IconName : model.Icon ``` — but it would not solve the issue completely because a) monochrome icon coloring would be broken for such icons, and b) I think overlay icons are currently also broken because overlaying is also implemented with QIcons on the C++ side. Fun fact: there's a DataEngine that contains a full duplicate of the above code as https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/dataengines/statusnotifieritem/statusnotifieritemsource.cpp?ref_type=heads. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479711 Maik Qualmann changed: What|Removed |Added CC||metzping...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from Maik Qualmann --- How a log is created under macOS is described here: https://www.digikam.org/contribute/ Well, 90,000 images isn't that much. In a normal scan, we read the file date information from all of these images. In a quick scan, only the file date information of the albums (folders), so probably only 1-5 thousand date information. If even that takes a long time, something must be very wrong. The code for the scan function is actually already highly optimized, I don't see any potential there anymore. There is of course the possibility that there is poor interaction between Qt and macOS or something else. I'll add a debug this weekend that will output the current number of files processed per second. What also surprises me and I have read several times is that it is hardly possible to work with digiKam during the scanning process. After all, the scanning process runs in its own thread. I just added a large external hard drive to my Windows test computer today with initial scan. I was able to work with digiKam without any problems.
