Strange, can still reproduce it – in a VM (Neon Unstable) and on bare HW
(self-build Plasma 6.0).
Changing scale to 200% doesn't make a difference for me (my default is 100%).
Using a different mouse doesn't change anything either.

[kwin] [Bug 469777] KWin since 5.27.5 uses 1 CPU core at 100% whenever something is using PipeWire to capture the screen

2024-01-17 Thread Prajna Sariputra
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469777

Spoke too soon, forgot about the fact that the order the screen sharing apps
are started can change things (as I noted back in comment 2, oops), and after
starting OBS, closing it and then starting Krfb the issue cropped up with Krfb
again.

Firefox meanwhile still seems to manage to avoid the issue somehow, in fact
even after I managed to reproduce the issue with OBS and Krfb, starting a
screen sharing session in Firefox and then stopping it seems to make KWin
behave sanely with both OBS and Krfb again, this time in the same session,
without reboots.

commit 0432ce486d61f84f6fcbeab0d812bb1f61c57561
Author: Alexandra Petlanova Hajkova
Date: Thu Mar 3 04:46:03 2022 -0500

vgdb: implement the extended-remote protocol

Executing vgdb --multi makes vgdb talk the gdb extended-remote
protocol. This means that the gdb run command is supported and
vgdb will start up the program under valgrind. Which means you
don't need to run gdb and valgrind from different terminals.
Also vgdb keeps being connected to gdb after valgrind exits. So
you can easily rerun the program with the same breakpoints in
place.

vgdb now implements a minimal gdbserver that just recognizes
a few extended-remote protocol packets. Once it starts up valgrind
it sets up noack and qsupported then it will forward packets
between gdb and valgrind gdbserver. After valgrind shutsdown it
resumes handling gdb packets itself.

Unfortunately the issue still persists with KWin at commit
9f10d5d79fe21c63989e41c1184f895c5464ab2b from git master for me with OBS
Studio, although interestingly now Krfb (23.08.4 from the Arch repos) no longer
causes the problem, unlike in Plasma 5.27.10, so the situation has improved but
the issue is not quite fixed yet.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392130

Tested another IME `fcitx5`. Kimpanel works with it under Wayland.

Trying to test `ibus`, but in Arch, the desktop file explicitly disabled panel
with in the cmdline:
`/usr/lib/ibus/ibus-ui-gtk3 --enable-wayland-im --exec-daemon --daemon-args
"--xim --panel disable"`

I modified `--panel disable` to `--panel /usr/lib/kimpanel-ibus-panel`.
Kimpanel shows, but `ibus` still uses its own candidate window.

So unable to reproduce.

Could you share your `pgrep -a ibus` result, so I can start `ibus` the proper
way?

2024-01-17 Thread red_Arti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478562

I think I found where the problem comes from. ffmpeg gives different
timestamps.

Two "start" timestamps are different:
0.083 - 0.015 = 0.068
0.068 is the drifted time !

I don't know why ffmpeg think start time different.
I cut and saved those two video files by Avidmux, from same movie file.

Can we do something in Kdenlive to correct that result?

2024-01-17 Thread Alexander
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479978

Bug ID: 479978
Summary: KDE 6.0 unstable dual screen only one works with
Wayland
Classification: KDE Neon
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Packages Unstable Edition
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: xanadd...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

KDE Neon unstable, when booting, only one screen is available even though the
configure display setting device shows two, but not side by side, only in the
device dropdown (it shows "built in and Lenovo external). Only one screen
works, the other says that it has no signal or when on the laptop it's just
black. Scaling is 100 on both settings. This is with both direct plug into the
laptops hdmi port or using a dock. Unplugging and lugging it back does nothing.
I dual boot with Zorin and with wayland/gnome it works as it should. To make
Neon work with dual screens I have to revert back to x11 at login.

With or without Nvidia Driver.

Not sure if it's a part of the issue, but, on boot or logout, SDDM has a messed
up screen too.

Apologies - just a minor adjustment to the replication steps - The crash occurs
as soon as you select 'Other Application...' in the menu. It does to reach the
point of opening the window to select the application you want to assign as
default.

SUMMARY
Tapping on a playing video seems to just pause and unpause the video, I can't
see the player controls.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the app
2. Open a video
3. Tap on the video playing

OBSERVED RESULT
It pauses the video rather than showing the player controls.

If this is related to TapHandler, I think the problem is that it seems kinda
broken in Qt6 and does not filter properly by device (ex. touchscreen vs
mouse). Imo we shouldn't have tap to pause even with a mouse, we can just use
the player controls

2024-01-17 Thread Justin Shepherd

Bug ID: 479975
Summary: Plasma Session Crashes When Using 'Open With' via
Plasma Browser Integration Download Dialogue
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.92.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-crash
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org

Qt Version: 6.7.0
Frameworks Version: 5.248.0
Operating System: Linux 6.7.0-arch3-1 x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland
Distribution: "Arch Linux"
DrKonqi: 5.92.0 [CoredumpBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
Description:
When choosing the 'Open With > Other Application' option via the Plasma browser
integration download dialogue window, specifically when attempting to change
the default application for a .zip file to Ark, it leads to a complete crash of
the entire Plasma session.

Reproduction Steps:

1. Open Firefox.
2. Ensure that the Plasma Integration extension is installed and enabled.
3. Navigate to the following webpage:
https://github.com/matinlotfali/KDE-Rounded-Corners/releases/tag/v0.5.0
4. On this page, locate and download the "Source code (zip)" file.
5. After the download is complete, the download window will appear. In the
download window, locate the downloaded .zip file entry.
6. Click on the Hamburger Menu (usually represented by three horizontal lines)
next to the downloaded .zip file entry.
7. From the dropdown menu that appears, select "Open With" and then choose
"Other Application...".
8. In the "Open With" dialogue that appears, select "Ark" (or any other desired
application) to set it as the default program for opening .zip files.
9. Observe that upon making this selection, the Plasma session consistently
crashes/restarts.

I've tried another repo downloading a source .zip file and it does not crash
via the Plasma Integration window, I'm unsure as to why this is only happening
on this particular .zip file.

For reference:
Crashing -
https://github.com/matinlotfali/KDE-Rounded-Corners/releases/tag/v0.5.0
Not Crashing - https://github.com/KDE/dragon/releases/tag/v24.01.90

Additional Information:

I do not use any special themes/icons or anything, this is just a plasma
session using all the defaults except for the fact that .zip filetype was
associated to something else other than ark.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.92.0

Kernel Version: 6.7.0-arch3-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Firefox Version: 121.0.1-1
Plasma Integration Extension Version: 5.92.0-1

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[kwin] [Bug 458233] In some games, controlling the camera with mouse, camera occasionally snaps into a different position when using Wayland

2024-01-17 Thread Yao Mitachi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458233

Having now tested FFXIV with Wine 9.0 and the Wayland driver enabled, I can
confirm this solves the issue. It was an XWayland(+Wine?) specific issue after
all.

OK to close as resolved, or should that wait until a registry edit isn't
required for Wayland support in Wine? (And the cursor properly hides when
holding down LMB or RMB?)

[skrooge] [Bug 479973] New: Skrooge doesn't remember last used pages on open

2024-01-17 Thread Michael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479973

Bug ID: 479973
Summary: Skrooge doesn't remember last used pages on open
Classification: Applications
   Product: skrooge
   Version: 2.30.0
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: steph...@mankowski.fr
  Reporter: k...@callthecomputerdoctor.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I've been using Skrooge for 10 years, I love it and have been telling my
friends to use it! Thank you so much for developing this project :) Data-wise,
it's been solid for me.

When I created my first .skg document back in 2014, it would remember all the
pages that I had open, which was great, because I just wanted to open up
Skrooge, add an operation and close it. Then at some point, Skrooge didn't
remember the default tab I was using, it would default to showing me the last
tab. Only mildly annoying, I couldn't figure out how to change it, but I could
deal with it.

Then I needed to create a whole new .skg document in 2020 and what I noticed is
that whatever I did, I could not get Skrooge to remember my open tabs. I tried
"Pin this page" and "Save page state", but they didn't do what I was expecting.
I read the Handbook, which is very nice, and it seemed that those should've
worked but nope.

What I would like to have happen is that I open Skrooge, and the automatically
last-loaded file will open up and show me all the tabs I last had open, *and*
the last used tab visible and ready to use. This would be great for me.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open Skrooge. It will auto-load the last used document, and will show the
file name in the status bar.

OBSERVED RESULT

You will see the "Welcome to Skrooge" page. That's it.

EXPECTED RESULT

See the last opened pages, with the last used page visible and ready to use.

SampleSVGs

I looked around a little bit and noticed that the wired icon is pretty much a
copy of what Window has had for a long time. While that is not necessarily a
bad thing, it's also one that makes me rethink what we should have. If we are
talking ethernet, maybe that's the stronger focus. I found a few samples from
around the web and tried to imitate the current breeze icon look and created
the attached icons.

Given the 22px bounding box and pixel alignment, I had to put some graphics in
half pixels, hopefully they don't look too bad. For the emblems, I just copied
the ones we currently use. Let me know your thoughts. If positive, I will
polish the icons more and make them ready for production.

SUMMARY
Congratulations! Plasma 6 is getting pretty stable, so this is just a nitpick.
Now that the buttons are on the header, they don't get obscured when an overlay

multiple times and open many pages. Maybe clicking it again should close the
pop-up.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kcm_cursortheme
2. Click on "Configure Launch Feedback..." multiple times

OBSERVED RESULT
It will open multiple times on top of one another

EXPECTED RESULT
Clicking the button again should dismiss the pop-up. If that's not possible,
maybe the header should get obscured like before, so clicking on it
automatically dismisses the pop-up before the user has the chance to click the
button.

It depends on the type of model apparently.

This is broken:

import QtQuick
import QtQuick.Controls

Item {

"spacing": 0

{

This works:

[plasma-mobile] [Bug 479967] New: Display sizing issue when opening apps in Plasma 5 (Mobian/Pinephone)

2024-01-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479967

Bug ID: 479967
Summary: Display sizing issue when opening apps in Plasma 5
(Mobian/Pinephone)
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasma-mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-mobile-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mgarw...@mindspring.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

Display does not size correctly when app is opened.

When opening certain apps in Plasma, they do not "initially" display to the
correct size of the "monitor" (the touchscreen of the phone). This renders the
output display somewhat unusable. Quitting the app and re-launching it does
nothing to correct the sizing issue.

An interim "fix" is to type the leftmost button on the phone, which displays
all of the running apps and re-select the application that is not displaying
properly--then the app will display properly.

This problem exists in at least 2 apps (that I have regularly used): the
"Settings" app (not the "System Settings" app) and in "Spacebar". There may be
others, but I have not tested other apps for this specific problem.

I think what he means is that somehow, you should be able to show a GUI window
capable of killing processes even when the rest of the system is unresponsive.
The reference so Ctrl+Alt+Delete is a Windows-ism; on Windows, hitting this
keyboard shortcut always shows a troubleshooting screen from which you can open
the Task Manager even when everything else is frozen.

My wife has expressed a similar desire in response to app and system freezes in
the past. I think it's a reasonable thing to have, in some capacity at least.

This is probably not something that would be done in plasmashell though; moving
to KWin.

Looking more closely, it's not that multiple ones are opened on top of one

the first is already open. So maybe all we need to do is disable the menu item
to open it when it's already open.

Hi there!

What would be a nice feature (now that we're in wayland land where each monitor
is actually it's own thing) having the ability to apply the "Zoom" Desktop
Effect on a per-monitor basis would be quite nice. Right now when the
functionality is used it zooms in on all monitors, which I consider to be fine
as default. What would be nice however (as a setting in the zoom effect
configuration maybe?) is to keep track of where the mouse pointer currently is
when zooming in and then only applying the zoom effect on said monitor (ie the
currently active display). As right now when I need it on my primary it zooms
in on all monitors, which includes the secondary that I use to keep track of
email inboxes&such (which I can't really do when it's zoomed in to somewhere
over in the corner).

Many thanks

Git commit 947d8c5e590e8d89fde2885abbb2bea8cce1b2e5 by Vlad Zahorodnii.
Committed on 18/01/2024 at 00:17.
Pushed by vladz into branch 'Plasma/6.0'.

Drop window type rule

Practically all code assumes that the window type is static and fixing
it would bring extra complexity, which may not be worth given that there
are window rules to control position, focus, layer, etc.

[kwin] [Bug 466016] Window type rule does not work in wayland

2024-01-17 Thread Vlad Zahorodnii
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466016

Git commit 7e6876cc630b4dbe720d2d9aa0953170731f5644 by Vlad Zahorodnii.
Committed on 18/01/2024 at 00:16.
Pushed by vladz into branch 'Plasma/6.0'.

Introduce layer window rule

The new window rule allows to overwrite the stack layer. It can be
useful on wayland to force picture-in-picture surfaces (which are
xdg-toplevels at the moment) to be placed above fullscreen windows.
Keep above flag is unsuitable because fullscreen windows are placed
higher "above" windows.
