[kate] [Bug 480206] New: Add Julia LSP support

2024-01-22 Thread Matthias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480206

Bug ID: 480206
   Summary: Add Julia LSP support
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: task
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: shaloksha...@protonmail.ch
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hi there. This Wiki contains the code needed to enable support for the LSP of
Julia.

https://github.com/julia-vscode/LanguageServer.jl/wiki/Kate#custom-lsp-setting

As you can see, is all what the user needs to do, is to run:

1. julia
2. ]
3. add LanguageServer

Ideally, we could run those lines initially as well, but I think its the policy
of Kate, to let that to the user entirely.

Encountered this bug trying to install dh-dkms via apper on Debian12.

Also, how is it that a bug that totally prevents apper from working is only
"importance: normal"? This bug, all by itself, pretty much renders Debian a
non-option for anyone who's not comfortable with apt-get on the command line.

Also, also, does the fix
(https://invent.kde.org/network/kdenetwork-filesharing/-/merge_requests/47/diffs)
for 472145 apply here? Could it really be that simple?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479912

Well, not exactly how I would do it, but a step towards the right direction.

I personally would not assume that those "hidden" files share one MIME type.
But maybe, it's just me … for me, the only way to "hide" a file has always been
letting it start with a dot. So I would have assumed that it's some wildcard
Dolphin uses, not a MIME type …

2024-01-22 Thread Ellie
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480176

Hm, but why wouldn't you want to have the hopefully most sane default based on
file type out of the box? I guess if the XML isn't the right place for it, it
could be kept in some other place. If you really wanted a unified default no
matter what, then maybe the less destructive disabling of enter to pick an auto
complete item might be the better choice. Especially if the popup has a short
help text instructing to use tab, this doesn't seem likely to confuse anyone
and won't occasionally somewhat literally break any typed code.

We have other ways to pre configure stuff for certain languages without
involving syntax highlighting, but we only do that if we are 100% sure that
this is the right thing to do i.e.,no opinions there. For e.g., using tabs for
Go language.

You can still configure this per language/file-type though, but its something
the user will have to decide for themselves.

When I e.g. put "firefox" in the search field of Discover and hit Enter, it
finds 191 applications. In my opinion of which 189 really not relevant at all.
I would expect to see listed:
- Firefox (of the distro - Neon User) not listed
- Firefox snap - listed in Discover 5.27.10 but not in Neon Unstable
- Firefox flatpak - listed
- Firefox ESR - not listed at all.
I also tried with random other programs and the results where also almost all
the time not as expected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. put "firefox" in the search field of Discover
2. hit Enter

OBSERVED RESULT
Discover produces a rather long and bizarre line of results

[kdeconnect] [Bug 480201] New: Add a button to send link in clipboard

2024-01-22 Thread Alan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480201

Bug ID: 480201
Summary: Add a button to send link in clipboard
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Android
OS: Android 11.x
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: chen73...@gmail.com
CC: andrew.g.r.hol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Sometimes the app only provides a feature of copying link, not sharing. So it
would be great to use regular expressions to extract the link in the clipboard
and store it in a variable, and add a button, just like pushing clipboard, to
share the url to other device so that other device can directly open the url

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kdeconnect
2. click some app's button of sharing or copying

OBSERVED RESULT
Either the phone copy the link but can not send url to device, or the pc just
says opening it on text editor without opening it

EXPECTED RESULT
There is a button which could push url recognized by regular expression from
clipboard to other device

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Android: 11

SUMMARY
The merge request
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/3330 removed
the "Add to Panel (widget)" context menu action for apps on Kickoff when a task
manager is available because it was essentially doing the same as "Pin to Task
Manager". However, it forgot to remove the same button for apps on the
Favorites view.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kickoff on the Favorites view (make sure to have a task manager like
IOTM)
2. Right-click one of the applications there

OBSERVED RESULT
The "Add to Panel (widget)" context menu action is still available.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be removed when a task manager is available, just like it was for
apps on other categories on Kickoff.

This is intentional to make pinned apps easier to launch when one instance is
already open (some novice users might not know about middle-clicking to open a
new instance). You can change back to a behavior similar to the old one by
right-clicking the panel > Configure Task Manager... > Behavior > And
unchecking "Keep Launcher Separate". That way, the icon will disappear again.
The only difference is that it won't be placed at the end of the list and stay
where it is.

We should definitely provide something like this; I think a page in display
settings for easy settings adjustment would be good, especially for cheaper
monitors it could make the experience much better even without a colorimeter.
Even with an ICC profile or HDR, we could allow for (color correct!)
adjustments of the whitepoint.

I will certainly try. This out again, since this was a issue I moved the
display output all to the main GPU.

I will move it back and retest this issue, however my main GPU has changed from
a 7900XTX to 4090 so hopefully that doesn't affect outcome.

[plasmashell] [Bug 479755] [Wayland] Invisible icons/texts in the logout screen if an icc color profile is used

2024-01-22 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479755

To be honest, looking at the code of the logout greeter, I don't know how it
chooses its colors - text and icons are always white for me, independently of
what the colorscheme says? This is the case for me on Plasma 5 at least, it
doesn't work at all for me on 6 so it's hard to test.

What I do know though is that it has 50% translucent text+icons on top of a 50%
translucent background window. The first 50% are always being blended in gamma
2.2 space, but the second one is gamma 2.2 without color management, and linear
with color management.
So if the background is black, the background window is black and the text is
100% white, the first blending step brings the text down to 50% brightness, and
the second
- without color management: to 25%
- with color management: to 11%
(assuming a perfectly black background). The difference in readability should
be obvious - though the state without color management is also not good by any
means.

So I think this has to be fixed here in the logout greeter - ideally by not
relying on opacity to signal focus in the first place. Perhaps it can be
aligned more to how focus is shown everywhere else?

> Essentially, if a key produces different Latin symbol on other layout, the

So basically:
- if my keyboard has non-Latin (e.g. Cyrillic) symbol on the same place as the
Latin symbol - shortcut will work
- If my keyboard has some other Latin symbol - shortcut won't work and I will
need to create another shortcut using different keyboard keyboard

For me "Walk Through Windows of Current Application" is broken by default since
Ukrainian keyboard layout has another Latin symbol (apostrophe) on the same
place as QuoteLeft/Grave symbol.

Is there any hope to workaround it on the KDE side?

I also wonder, why do we need a separate issue
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453661) for this case.
This issue is also about Wayland session but it's more noticeable and has more
useful information.

   Summary: broken tabs/session title
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: 24.01.90
  Platform: FreeBSD Ports
OS: FreeBSD
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: olev...@ya.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 165143
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=165143=edit
broken tabs title

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. run 'konsole'
2. ssh XXX@remote host
3. add second tabs
4. keep doing some activity and after a while you may see garbage (see
screenshot) instead of the normal title.

OBSERVED RESULT

1) in a local session tabs I only see '/' , instead of the usual title ( my
settins: Tab title format: %d : %n )
2) in a remote session tabs I can see random garbage (buffer overflow ? ). I
once saw this as a tab name:
```
'/ : ze Name[it]=Brezza N'
```
(it looks like part of i18n content? po/it/konsole.po:msgstr "Brezza" )

( behavior does not depend on the user shell ( /bin/sh, /bin/csh ))

Possibly a 'sysctl' processing/parsing problem in

  src/UnixProcessInfo.cpp ( UnixProcessInfo::getProcInfoStruct )
  src/ProcessInfo.cpp ( readProcInfo )

?

EXPECTED RESULT

Username/path/remote host info as a tabs title

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 5.92.0
KDE Framework Version: 5.248.0

Kernel Version: 15.0-CURRENT (64-bin)
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Tabs settings:

Potentially you built and run dbus which would make it work, but we don't ship
dbus with Okular because it's a bit messy.

One potential solution is to use https://github.com/KDAB/KDSingleApplication
instead of dbus stuff to make the "should i start myself or attach to another
app" logic.

Another file that causes the crash

Probably authored by Libreoffice, but can't remember.
