If the issues are independent, it gets harder to track them individually within a single thread. So I'm not super excited to see another bug closed as duplicate that had a clearer title and scope than this one. Although the video for this one is very helpful, thanks for including that. Too bad Bugzilla doesn't provide better tools to merge threads or at least modify the bug description at the top. Anyway, the faulty ENTER/RETURN issue is now marked as fixed, so could we rescope this bug (and rename the title) to just the X11 blank-with-cursor problem? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Because of this, if the sound were to repeat because of a held key, it would produce a repeating popping noise, due to the sound getting repeatedly cut. The previous sounds didn't have this issue because they were short enough to finish playing before getting cut off. A possible fix for this would be to either extend the period these sounds would play to fit the sound that plays, or to keep the current delay and make the sounds overlap -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 482211] New: Desktop icons sorted by name were occasionally unsorted when starting Plasma
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482211 Bug ID: 482211 Summary: Desktop icons sorted by name were occasionally unsorted when starting Plasma Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.93.0 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Folder Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: matt.fagn...@bell.net CC: h...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY I have 18 desktop icons sorted by name arranged into 3 columns in Plasma 6.0.0 on Wayland in a Fedora 40 KDE Plasma installation. The desktop context menu for Icons shows Sort By - Name, Arrange - Top to bottom, Align - Left, Show previews is enabled, Locked isn't enabled. Desktop icons sorted by name were occasionally unsorted when starting Plasma. The desktop icons were seemingly randomly ordered and Sort By was Unsorted when this problem happened. This problem happened about 10-20% of the time I started Plasma. I've seen this problem a few times in the last week or so. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Boot a Fedora 40 KDE Plasma installation with a user with 18 desktop icons sorted by name arranged into 3 columns and desktop context menu for Icons set to Sort By - Name, Arrange - Top to bottom, Align - Left, Show previews is enabled, Locked isn't enabled. 2. Log in to Plasma 6.0.0 on Wayland from sddm 3. If the problem didn't happen, log out. 4. Repeat 2-3 until the problem happens. OBSERVED RESULT Desktop icons sorted by name were occasionally unsorted when starting Plasma EXPECTED RESULT Desktop icons sorted by name would always be sorted when starting Plasma SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 40 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The version field when entering this report didn't show 6.0.0 as an option so I selected 5.93.0. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 482178] Wayland renders the whole desktop in half refresh rate
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482178 --- Comment #4 from King --- (In reply to King from comment #3) > Same issue for me after updating to Plasma 6 on KDE Neon today. I had no > issues prior to the upgrade. > > My setup is a Dell Precision 7550 laptop (i915) connected to a Dell P2715Q > display via HDMI. Using glxgears to test, I get FPS close to Refresh Rate > for both screens on X11 but with Wayland, I get roughly half FPS on the > external display while the built-in laptop screen is fine. Quick follow up on the comment I just posted -- I found a fix for my issue! With my original setup (external monitor connected via HDMI), I got refresh rates/fps of 60HZ/60FPS on the laptop screen and 30HZ/15FPS on the external monitor. After some research, I found that I could get 60HZ on the P2715Q with a DisplayPort connection, so I swapped out the HDMI cable and now get 60HZ/60FPS on both screens. Not sure if this would help the OP as his issue occurs with only one display, but hopefully this helps someone with a setup similar to mine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482207 Bug ID: 482207 Summary: i915 Kwin and plasmashell crashes on hp530 notebook Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.27.10 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Keywords: drkonqi Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: altbins...@yahoo.com Target Milestone: --- Application: kwin_x11 (5.27.10) Qt Version: 5.15.12 Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Operating System: Linux 6.7.6-200.fc39.x86_64 x86_64 Windowing System: X11 Distribution: "Fedora release 39 (Thirty Nine)" DrKonqi: 5.27.10 [KCrashBackend] -- Information about the crash: At boot, during desktop load, Kwin will always crash and recover. It then runs for an unpredictable period, minutes or hours or nearly a day. Using 'kwin_x11 --replace' followed by 'plasmashell --no-respawn' restores function but the next crash may be seconds or hours away. It doesn't matter whether the system is being actively used or just sitting there displaying a slideshow or idling. [kate] [Bug 482206] New: Kate crashes when closing a tab with a Rust file (and Rust Analyzer LSP) via KRunner and Baloo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482206 Bug ID: 482206 Summary: Kate crashes when closing a tab with a Rust file (and Rust Analyzer LSP) via KRunner and Baloo Classification: Applications Product: kate Version: 24.02.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Keywords: drkonqi Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: joniwe...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Application: kate (24.02.0) Qt Version: 6.6.2 Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Operating System: Linux 6.7.6-arch1-2 x86_64 Windowing System: Wayland Distribution: "Arch Linux" DrKonqi: 6.0.0 [CoredumpBackend] -- Information about the crash: I enabled Baloo indexing and wanted to try it out, so I searched for a text, more specifically "allow-hyphen", and pressed `Enter` on the first one that appeared. Kate launched but crashed after I tried to close the tab. I can see the following in the journal prior to its crash (after this is the core dump attached by Dr. Konqi): > systemd[1884]: Started Kate - Advanced Text Editor. > kate[554123]: kf.config.core: Watching absolute paths is not supported > "/usr/share/color-schemes/BreezeDark.colors" > kwin_wayland[2318]: kf.config.core: Watching absolute paths is not supported > "/usr/share/color-schemes/BreezeDark.colors" > baloorunner[554123]: KCrash: Application 'kate' crashing... > crashRecursionCounter = 2 After a couple of more tries and carefully redoing my steps, I found a way to reproduce 100% of the time on my end. Here's how: Have Rust Analyzer configured in Kate and open a random text file. In my case, I just created an empty file for the sake of simplicity, and left it unrelated to the project (outside the Rust project tree). > touch random-text-file Then open it, and with Kate still open, press Alt+F2 to bring KRunner and search for a text that is on a Rust project, then press `Enter` on the first result. As soon as Kate is brought to the foreground, try to close the tab, it'll crash. If it doesn't crash on the first attempt, try again with the same Kate instance running. I recorded a video reproducing this problem. With OBS running, I never managed to get on the first try, but I always got on the second one (guess you need perfect timing). It does not happen if there is no Kate instance running, and I also noticed that KRunner needs to be invoked twice to work sometimes, but this is beside the point. I'll try to upload the video after submitting the report. Things I tried: - Different Rust projects: still crashes. - Different LSPs: tried gopls and json, neither crashed. The crash can be reproduced every time. -- Backtrace (Reduced): #5 0x7a4b77893c6a in operator== (p2=..., p1=...) at /usr/include/qt6/QtCore/qshareddata.h:202 #7 0x7a4b79c2255f in DiagnosticsView::addMarks (item=0x6522898d68a0, doc=0x652288a02fd0, this=0x6522887f0570) at /usr/src/debug/kate/kate-24.02.0/apps/lib/diagnostics/diagnosticview.cpp:1044 #8 DiagnosticsView::addMarksRec (this=this@entry=0x6522887f0570, doc=doc@entry=0x652288a02fd0, item=0x6522898d68a0) at /usr/src/debug/kate/kate-24.02.0/apps/lib/diagnostics/diagnosticview.cpp:1088 #9 0x7a4b79c221aa in DiagnosticsView::addMarksRec (this=this@entry=0x6522887f0570, doc=doc@entry=0x652288a02fd0, item=) at /usr/src/debug/kate/kate-24.02.0/apps/lib/diagnostics/diagnosticview.cpp:1090 #10 0x7a4b79c221aa in DiagnosticsView::addMarksRec (this=this@entry=0x6522887f0570, doc=doc@entry=0x652288a02fd0, item=) at /usr/src/debug/kate/kate-24.02.0/apps/lib/diagnostics/diagnosticview.cpp:1090 Reported using DrKonqi -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 482132] When renaming an album, all collections' trees are expanded (windows and kde neon)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482132 --- Comment #10 from guenael --- There it is : using Right-Click and Rename works well. It's using "Properties" that provokes the trees expansion. I use Properties by habit, no reason else. Can you reproduce it now ? I'll tell you if this is also true on Win 10 tomorrow. I don't use Snap. I installed Digikam using pkcon (eg Neon wrapper for apt). I install my apps with pkcon (generic + private ppa's) or flathub. Should I prefer one method? I installed Digikam on both my Win10 and my father's using chocolatey, for the record. My father has a big db: 56 000 objects, several collections, lots of directories. Mine is much smaller, a few thousand photos and much simpler tree. I'm not sure this is part of the issue. I realize now that lead wasn't relevant, sorry for that. I'll try the 8.3 pre-release. I used X11 until yesterday and for now Wayland works ... perfectly well. Nothing to complain so far but I'll give it a try for a few days before making a decision. I'm agnostic on the matter and not technical enough to grasp the stakes between the two. I would not be surprised to move back to X11 : it has been fine for me for quite a few years. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 391174] Option to order Alt+tab menu items according to task manager arrangement
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391174 Salman Farooq changed: What|Removed |Added CC||salman.farooq3...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from Salman Farooq --- Hi, I am a software engineer and I would like to implement this feature because I have been wanting it for myself for a really long time. Though I have never developed Qt/KDE software before, I am up for the challenge. Can anybody guide me to any resources to setup a test environment where I can build and test my changes in code? Is a VM generally used? Also, any guidance for the Qt/KDE modules I should get familiar with to get started on this task? At the very least, I know there is a global shortcuts system I will need to know the API of. Basically, I want 2 global shortcuts: one to move to the next (to the right or bottom) open application in the task manager and one for the previous (to the left or above). If everything goes smoothly, I will then handle the multi-row/column task managers as well but having the single row/column stuff working is my (as well as other people's I guess) priority. Excited to do this! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 481984] Flickering menus on the web.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481984 --- Comment #3 from Derek --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > Does it happen in Firefox? No. The scrollbar also flickers in sync with the flickering of the menu's and the menu will flicker when moving the mouse or scrolling after closing it like old frames are displaying. link to video of the flickering. https://streamable.com/znwdze Other symptoms in chromium browsers is hovering the chrome menu in the top right, the three dot menu, it will display the highlighted entry on hover but that lags and jumps all around. When the mouse enters the window everything on the page flickers and even as I type this right now everything flickers in the top menu and when I erase text it will delete and then flicker back into view for a second after it was deleted. It just seems like a general lag in chromium and it bogs everything else down. Only does this in Wayland as well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[skrooge] [Bug 476591] Part of the skrooge flatpak's user interface is not translated and remains in English
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476591 --- Comment #9 from skierpage --- (In reply to Jean-Pierre V from comment #8) > Hi Skierpage, > I confirm your point : adding this symlink to org.kde.skrooge makes skrooge > works perfectly in French. > > So there is a weird thing in the process of building this package. Yes. It's probably a bug in the cleanup phase of flatpak-builder, https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak-builder/issues/154 , which somehow may remove symlinks if some package created localizations. I added cleanup commands because the flatpak build of some of the libraries on which skrooge depends generate lots of unneeded files in the flatpak; I'll try removing them although when I build locally flatpak-builder doesn't remove the symlinks. Merci pour votre aide, I wish I was more expert ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
