[Powerdevil] [Bug 470106] brightness-control slider shows different percentage than OSD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470106 Jakob Petsovits changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jpe...@petsovits.com --- Comment #3 from Jakob Petsovits --- New merge request @ https://invent.kde.org/plasma/powerdevil/-/merge_requests/342. It fixes the brightness slider lagginess and makes the slider jump way less, still possible but negligible in practice. I have deeply pondered what this means for the slider going out of sync with the OSD. Quick testing now seems fine in terms of showing the right OSD values after quickly dragging the brightness slider. It may just all be a question of "how much time do you give powerdevil to apply the new brightness slider value before pressing the brightness key". In which case, the answer is "it needs a lot less time to apply the new brightness than it did before (but there is still a little delay theoretically)". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 483961] New: Application Menu Launcher not wrapping around when using keypresses
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483961 Bug ID: 483961 Summary: Application Menu Launcher not wrapping around when using keypresses Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: loudsq...@tutanota.com Target Milestone: --- There was a bug in the application menu launcher (Start Menu) recently. When you hit 'enter' it would switch to the search dialog This was obviously a bug as users could not select the program they wanted via keypress (it would switch to the search instead). However, once that was fixed it introduced another bug. Now I cannot use 'up' to wrap around to the bottom of the category. For example Windows Key, Up, Right, Up, Up would bring me to shutdown and I could shutdown the PC. I've been using this keypress for years to shutdown the machine. Now I cannot wrap around, so now I have to use Windows Key, Up, Right, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down. Which is way more annoying. I guess someone thought that they were fixing a bug, but they created another one in the process. Please return the wrap behaviour back to normal. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483959 Bug ID: 483959 Summary: On Plasma 6.x, if multiple Virtual Desktops are created in a Grid pattern (ie 2 row of 2) Overview fails to display multiple Virtual Desktop Thumbnails Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-overview Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: tracy_a...@feral-penguin.com.au Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Currently on Plasma 5.27 the Overview displays all the Virtual Desktop Thumnails regardless of whether the Virtual Desktops are configured for display as a Grid or not. In Plasma 6.x this is not what happens.. 2. In the case of Plasma 6.x, if the Virtual Desktops are configured to display as a Grid, the Overview functions as if it were 'Display all Windows on Current Desktop'. Conversely, if the Virtual Desktops are configured so that the Overview correctly display all Virtual Desktops the Grid effect does not display as a Grid, but as a row of Virtual Desktops. STEPS TO REPRODUCE On Plasma 6.x 1. in Workspace Behaviour -> Virtual Desktops create 4 Virtual Desktops in 2 rows of 2 2. Trigger both Overview and Desktop Grid alternately 3. Note that when Overview is triggered it displays with no Virtual Desktops along the top bar, which is missing. Note that when Desktop Grid displays a a Grid 4. in Workspace Behaviour -> Virtual Desktops create 4 Virtual Desktops in a single row of 4 5. Trigger both Overview and Desktop Grid alternately 6. Note that overview display correctly with the Overview Bar at the top display thumbnails of the 4 Desktops, and the Virtual Desktops are selectable Note that when Desktop Grid is triggered, it displays the Virtual Desktops as a single row, not as a grid. OBSERVED RESULT When the Virtual desktops are created in Multiple rows the Desktop Grid display correctly as a Grid, but Overview appears as if it is the 'Display all Windows on the Current Desktop' effect When the Virtual Desktops are created in a single row, the Overview displays correctly, but the Desktop Grid does not. EXPECTED RESULT That Overview on Plasma 6 act as it does on Plasma 5, and ignore the rows when the Virtual Desktops are created in multiple rows, for the Grid effect, and therefore display correctly as an Overview, as it does of Plasma 5.27. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have been testing KDE Plasma on KDE Neon Unstable and now Stable, Manjaro KDE Unstable, Fedora 39 KDE All running KDE 6.01 and 6.02, KUbuntu 22.04 and Manjaro KDE Stable, both running KDE 5.27. With the exception that on KDE 5.27 the Overview has limited options... no ability to disable Add/Remove Virtual Desktops, both the Overview and the Grid functions well. In comparison there are issues with the Over/Grid combination on Plasma 6 that make the Overview and the Grid an either or choice, but where neither functions well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When creating a default panel and editing the task manager, the Task Manger Behaviour settings defaults to 'Show only tasks: From current screen: Disable'. This seems like an oversight, if you have multiple monitors it's counter-intuitive to have programs not on that monitor show up on the task manager; especially by default. It's also really annoying that instantly you have a full taskbar and it's hard to right click the actual taskbar (not the programs) in order to get into the Task Manager settings in the first place with this setting at its default. I can understand that it may be useful option for some (not arguing to take it away) but as a default setting 'Show only tasks: From current screen:' should be enabled by default. [kwin] [Bug 478556] With NVIDIA GPU on X11, unable to interact with windows sometimes; instead interacts with Plasma desktop
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478556 Jonathan Lopes changed: What|Removed |Added CC||joniwe...@gmail.com --- Comment #11 from Jonathan Lopes --- I'm running Plasma 6 on Wayland and have the exact same problem with all IntelliJ IDEs. The problem happens whenever I have an XWayland application behind the IDE. My current “workaround” is to bring a native Wayland window to the foreground before switching to the IDE so I never have an XWayland application below it. To illustrate it better (I hope bugzilla does not break the formatting), imagine that I opened Dolphin maximized, then opened IntelliJ IDEA: > | Dolphin | > | | IntelliJ | > | | | > | | | > |--| | >|--| IntelliJ is on top of Dolphin, so this problem never happens. Also, if there's nothing behind it (i.e. only the desktop) the problem doesn't happen as well. Now if I open Steam, which is runs on XWayland, It will go on top of IntelliJ: > | Dolphin | > | | IntelliJ | > | | | Steam | > | | | | > |--| | | >|--| | > |--| Anything that I type on Steam gets captured by the Steam window as expected, but if I bring IntelliJ to the front: > | Dolphin | > | | Steam | > | | | IntelliJ | > | | | | > |--| | | >|--| | > |--| The *Icons-only Task Manager* shows that IntelliJ is focused, but anything that I type or click on IntelliJ, gets sent to Steam instead (which is very awkward). The same happens with applications like Slack that also runs on XWayland: I type on IntelliJ, but the keys go to Slack instead. I notice this problem very often because it's not uncommon for me to have IntelliJ, RustRover, PyCharm and WebStorm all running at the same time, and I very often find myself trying to type on IntelliJ only to find out that all the keystrokes went to PyCharm (despite the Task Manager showing that IntelliJ is focused). Reproducing this problem is very tricky, there are days that I start and finish my job without it ever happening, but once it starts happening, not even closing all IDEA instances and opening again fixes it. The only workaround is to either minimize all windows and only have the desktop behind the IDE, or to have a native Wayland application behind the IDE, like Firefox for example: > | Dolphin | > | | Steam | > | | | Firefox | > | | | | IntelliJ | > | | | | | > |--| | | | >|--| | | > |--| | > |--| This is something that never happened on Plasma 5 (at least for me), but TBF, it's only happening with IntelliJ, no other X11 application running under XWayland suffers from this, and Java applications have always been problematic under XWayland. One small problem I noticed was that when I launched Steam, IntelliJ was forcefully brought to the foreground and RustRover got highlighted in the Task Manager (as if it requested focus). This was the first time that something stole the focus forcefully even with the “Focus Stealing Prevention” set to “High”. Note that I don't think “Focus Stealing Prevention” has anything to do with the problem as I only changed this setting a couple of days ago, but I've been experiencing this “input being sent to the wrong window” since the official release of Plasma 6 (only with IntelliJ tho). https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483953 Bug ID: 483953 Summary: KDE neon: Taskbar edit mode, deleting items is unnecessarily frustrating Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: loudsq...@tutanota.com Target Milestone: --- This has been a bug for a while but it's also present in Plasma 6. When editing a default panel you can remove items from the panel. To remove items a context menu pops up with an option to remove it. However generally when you hover over the context menu it will disappear and you have to 'fight' with it to get it to appear again. This is more pronounced if you want to delete more than one item from the default panel. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a default panel 2. Right click on the panel, enter edit mode 3. Delete an item from the panel 4. Repeat step three as the context menu behaviour gets more frustrating (disappearing on hover over, which is the opposite of what it should do) as you remove more items from the default panel. OBSERVED RESULT The context menu is flaky and tends to disappear when you want to move from the panel to the items in the context menu (e.g. delete). EXPECTED RESULT The context menu should be consistent and you shouldn't have to fight against it in order to select an item from the context menu.
