[Powerdevil] [Bug 481308] screen locker black with cursor on X11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481308 Michael Hamilton changed: What|Removed |Added CC||mich...@actrix.gen.nz --- Comment #62 from Michael Hamilton --- I saw this happen this evening on 6.0.3 (Tumbleweed 20240328, X11, nvidia 550.54). After returning to my PC, the lock screen was blank, but the arrow cursor was moveable. I used alt-ctrl-f1 to a console and then "loginctl unlock-session N" as a workaround. It seems to be happening about one time in ten. More interestly this also happened to another desktop in the home which is still on KDE5. On this other KDE5 based PC it's been happening much less often, perhaps once a month. Could the origin of this bug be something that has been lurking since KDE5 but changes have now caused it to occur more frequently? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

With face recognition, an extremely large number of faces are incorrectly assigned to a person. Let's say a total of 19000 unconfirmed faces. If I assign some of the faces of the 19,000 photos to the correct person and start face recognition again, will the remaining 18,900 faces be analyzed again and possibly moved to other people? Maybe even ignored if I previously ignored faces that looked the same? I couldn't find anything about it in the manual. [neon] [Bug 484744] New: Desktop icons (all links and some widgets) get resorted, rearranged and relocated on every switch on / off of monitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484744 Bug ID: 484744 Summary: Desktop icons (all links and some widgets) get resorted, rearranged and relocated on every switch on / off of monitor Classification: KDE Neon Product: neon Version: unspecified Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Packages User Edition Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org Reporter: os.subscript...@gmail.com CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Desktop icons (all links and some widgets) get resorted, rearranged and relocated on every switch on / off of my monitor Detailed Description: When I switch / turn my monitor off and on again, icons get resorted, rearranged and relocated up, without my volition. This happens on physical button switch off / on of the monitor. The computer is not switched off, only the monitor is switched off / on. The events of: (a) automatic energy saving switch off, (b) the sleep on / wake up, (c) the PC reboot, - do not trigger the bug. Only the physical monitor switch off / on messes the icons. Icons behave this way upon two steps (switches) until they get fully arranged in two lines on the top of the screen. On the first switch off/on, they get partly rearranged in the middle of the screen, and on the second switch off/on, they all get to the top in two lines. This bug affects all icon links and some widgets. As regards the widgets, for example, the sticky note is not affected, i.e. not moved up on monitor switch off/on event. However, the TrashCan widget does get resorted and is moved up. On the right mouse click on the Desktop I set icons to be unsorted and unlocked, so nothing wrong I do on my side. Icons get resorted and arranged in the lines alphabetically, except for the Trash can which is treated as a folder and put first. I installed KDE Neon on HDD like a month ago, and fully upgraded and updated it as of now. Right before installation I used to have Kali Linux with KDE Plazma - and I did not have this bug issue, all icons remained where they should be, no matter the monitor switch off / on. I tried to log in KDE Neon to x11 session (instead of Wayland), - but the bug in x11 remains as in Wayland. However, when logged in KDE Neon to Xfce session, the bug disappears, and all icons remain where they should be no matter the monitor switch off / on action. I also tried it now on Live Kali Linux running GNOME in Virtual Box, and separately, ran Windows 11 on this PC motherboard from another HDD, - as a result, both these systems do not care for the monitor switch off/on. They save the locations of icons as the user defined alright. So this KDE Neon Wayland icons' resorting, rearranging and relocating is indeed a bug, and this bug does not seem to be an intentional behavior designed by developers or an industry standard, please correct me if I am wrong. I never had issues with Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 4600 drivers as well, as I can run some basic games alright. So this issue should not be connected with drivers either. May be there is some some config file that does not have enough access rights to get saved, I do not know. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Switch off the monitor (not the PC) by hand (not by a program), then switch the monitor back on. 2. Repeat the step 1 once again. OBSERVED RESULT Icons (all links and some widgets) get resorted, rearranged in two lines and get relocated to the top of the screen. EXPECTED RESULT Icons (all links and all widgets) should remain on the screen in the location where a user placed them. My hardware is not new: I have a Desktop PC. Motherboard ASUS Z87 Delux Dual. It not only offers a better, more feature-rich, and customizable interface for wider panels (e.g. a sidebar on the right edge of the screen), but also behaves and looks better (and not buggy) when inactive. When inactive, KDE Plasma's integrated Media Player widget not only displays a large symbolic icon (media-play-stop or media-playback-paused), but also fails to display the context menu (Show Alternatives / Add Widgets / Enter Edit Mode), which must be a BUG. In that state, Media Player+ however not only displays the expected context menu, including an option to configure the widget, but also it doesn't display such a meaningless large symbolic icon in the place reserved for album art, keeping it blank with only a caption "No media playing" below. I hope KDE Plasma developers team takes some action about the future development of this widget as part of KDE Plasma in view of this. Ok, it was more complicated to reproduce: 1. Create the project using the meson template 2. Build the project 3. Add a line in meson.build to introduce an error like a non-existent library or missing version 4. Run prune 5. When opening a project that had panoramic .jpeg images referenced in the source explorer, they all now appear like a white clip of 5:00 seconds with 2 black stripes on top and bottom. They used to be supported (and seen as images) fine in 23.08 version ; I can't tell when this regression happened. The panoramic images seem to be considered like video clips and under the "properties" panel, the video codec is the MJPEG (which is indeed useless for a picture). I believe either kdenlive or MLT defaults to video clips for some reason, hence the confusion. You can find a screenshot attached to this bug report. SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. [dolphin] [Bug 455645] Tooltip frequently covers filenames when it appears

Tooltips should be much less intrusive and appear only when hovering over the filename and not on the whole row if that is feasable.
