[kwin] [Bug 485713] New: "Switch desktop on edge" doesn't work on edges that also have another monitor touching

2024-04-17 Thread Miranda
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485713

Bug ID: 485713
Summary: "Switch desktop on edge" doesn't work on edges that
also have another monitor touching
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.4
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-window-management
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mira...@xyla.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

If you have multiple screens but that aren't aligned for dragging things
between monitors and you want to use the "Switch desktop on edge" feature
instead... you can't, no matter how much of a solid screen edge you have.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Align a display in Display Configuration so one is shifted down or up and
you have most of a full screen edge boundary the the mouse cannot cross
2. Turn on "Switch desktop on edge"
3. Try to drag a window to the next virtual desktop instead of to the offset
display

OBSERVED RESULT
It will not let you move to the next virtual desktop.

EXPECTED RESULT
If 90% of a screen edge does not connect to another desktop, it should function
for the virtual desktop switching trigger.
I assume this is an oversight similar to how vertical panels won't dodge or
hide when on an edge shared with another display.

[amarok] [Bug 444480] amarokcollectionscanner hangs in /dev

Tested around a bit. The collection scanner knows how to avoid normal /dev,
/sys and /proc, and also seems to be ok with symlinked versions of those.
Apparently the relation is hidden somewhat deeper in lxc filesystems. It is
helpful if you can provide more information on what the path of dev looks like
when it's under lxc filesystem (and how it is connected there, link, mount or
something else). I might inspect myself later, but as I don't have lxc
filesystems available right away, that'll be post-3.0.

[plasmashell] [Bug 482645] System tray icons are colored wrong when using dark Plasma and light application theme

2024-04-17 Thread Timothy B
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482645

Please disregard my previous comment. The linked bug report actually referred
to similar behavior in the Add Widgets sidebar, but follow-up comments have
managed to change the subject to the same behavior in system tray icons.

I just tried playing a game and it stutters like crazy, even with VRR
completely disabled through my monitor.
I tried downgrading all plasma packages to 6.0.3, but plasma wouldn't start
anymore.

Good point. I now realize what this bug ticket originally addressed and noticed
that follow-up comments gradually changed the topic to similar behavior in the
system tray, which I initially thought was the topic of this report. Therefore,
I have changed the title to clarify that this bug specifically affects the Add

I tried Teams on Firefox, and it behaves the same way as described in this bug.

However, if I take a screenshot, quit Spectacle and then paste, it works just
like described in 485096. My default format is AVIF. And I also have 4K, so PNG
is so big. So it does seem like a duplicate.

To add to my last comment, utilization going up and down costs around 20% in
average FPS. Looking at the same place from the same angle results in average
FPS of 96 with kwin 6.0.3 whereas it's jumping between 74 and 78 with kwin
6.0.4.

2024-04-17 Thread Ataberk Özen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477016

There's a regression in 6.0.4 release of kwin. I've downgraded it back to 6.0.3
and everything is fine here.

Adaptive Sync seems stuck at 74hz at any refresh rate. This behaviour can be
confirmed best with https://github.com/Nixola/VRRTest

Mangohud can't make sense of what it is seeing as launching any application
with mangohud results in flickering hud and mangohud thinking FPS is 0. GPU
utilization is unstable with games I've tested. Utilization goes up and down
(e.g alternating between 70 and 99/100).

2024-04-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485711

Bug ID: 485711
Summary: Volume sliders freeze with wireplumber
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: KPipeWire
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168634&action=edit
video

SUMMARY
My volume sliders freeze up if i'm too quickly dragging them to change volume.
This only happens if i drag them with the mouse, not while changing volume via
keyboard or via the scrollwheel. I've noticed wireplumber cpu usage goes to
100% on one core. if i downgrade wireplumber to 4.17 it gets better but still a
bit janky. Happens on both x11 and Wayland.

I am unsure if this is a kde bug since an earlier version of wireplumber works
better but this issue does not happen on xfce4 at all.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. have wireplumber ver 5.1 running
2. change system volume via any slider, either in the sound applet or in
systemsettings

OBSERVED RESULT
Slider freezes for a while

EXPECTED RESULT
Slider is smooth

journalctl -r from turning monitor off and on again

I don't know if this will be helpful, but this is journalctl -r for the time
period immediately preceding turning my monitor off and back on again. I can
reproduce it just by doing this, and then clicking any app in the "icons only"
taskbar. I have only deleted the akonadi entries, as I know they are not
relevant.

[kwin] [Bug 485708] KDE panel system tray pop ups become non-functioning when panel switches from floating to not floating or floating turned off

So the issue is when the system tray widget plugin is being created, it is
being given the popupHeight and popupWidth values to 0. When you set them
manually to something like 300 in the plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
file, it fixes itself and a restart gives it the default values back.

I forgot to mention that this is a regression from kwin 5.27.8 which ships
Kubuntu 23.10.
In fact I have been using Wayland with the NVIDIA proprietary driver without
major issues for a year or more now, with Kubuntu 23.04 and Kubuntu 23.10, see
https://packages.ubuntu.com/lunar/kwin-wayland and
https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/kwin-wayland.

Is there plan to fix the 5.27.x branch or to revert the recent change which
breaks Wayland with the NVIDIA proprietary driver?
That would be great for the distributions which will not update to the 6.x
branch.
It would be especially welcomed for Kubuntu 24.04 which is a long term support
release and will be around for a long time, although KDE and Plasma are "only"
community supported, but this is true for a lot of packages in Ubuntu.

SUMMARY
In the window which appears in the process of exporting data to a file, there
is an icon to the right of the "File Name" textbox.
While hovering over this button (which would open the file explorer) it says
"Select the file to import".
Since this is to allow the user to provide a location and name for the exported
document, it should instead say something like "select the location and file
name to export to".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a worksheet/spreadsheet/whatever object that allows exporting
2. With the object selected, File --> Export, to bring up the export window
3. Hover the mouse over the icon to the right of the "File Name" textbox - it
says "Select the file to import".

OBSERVED RESULT
"import" in the export window.

EXPECTED RESULT
Direct the user to select a name and path to export the file to.

Would you prefer to mark it as a duplicate for that bug instead?

Hi Maarten, thanks for the bug report.
I've been able to reproduce this bug on the latest master branch, so I'm
confirming it.

I think this is an edge case to do with changing the play head while the
animation is playing.
Because if I stop or pause the animation and *then* move the play head, it
seems to work as expected.

Just as a note to my future self, here are my slightly different STEPS TO
REPRODUCE:
1. Play an animation file.
2. Click the time header to change the play head position, while the animation
is still playing.
(Animation playback will stop after you change the playhead.)
3. Hit play again.

I'd imagine that this shouldn't be too hard to fix, so hopefully we can get to
it soon.

Re: Bug 485630

That sounds very plausible. I noticed that the backtrace went pretty much
identical as with the one I attached to this issue.

When experiencing this bug, I also thought that the issue was related to
Kdenlive at first. Until I eventually tried dragging the file to the side
instead of upwards.

However, as Dilam noted in your bug report, your issue with Dolphin freezing
seems to not be related to this.
For that, I will comment on your report separately though.

[plasmashell] [Bug 485703] New: [wayland] Klipper popup menu position offset unless on top display.

2024-04-17 Thread Eamonn Rea
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485703

Bug ID: 485703
Summary: [wayland] Klipper popup menu position offset unless on
top display.
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.0.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Clipboard
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: eamonn...@protonmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Note that I believe this bug to be distinct from Bug 482076.

On a display layout where there are multiple displays (at least two) above and
below each other (at least one below), and at least one of those bottom
displays are offset to the side of a top display (such as a laptop offset to
the side of two displays above it), the Klipper popup menu appears offset from
the mouse position on the bottom displays, but displays correctly on the top
displays and occasionally displays correctly on the bottom display.

The offset varies greatly, and is seemingly random, as opening and closing the
popup after moving the mouse between displays can produce widely varied
results.

I took a look at the code, and this may be a result of the Klipper popup menu
using `QCursor::pos()` ('a' and 'b' links, I'm unsure which is relevant), which
I believe is unreliable under Wayland ('c' and 'd' links). I am by no means an
expert and all the information provided here could be wrong, but I figured I'd
post my findings of where I left off from investigating it myself.

A solution based on KDE documentation may be to use `event->globalPos()` for
this popup menu ('e' link), which I believe could count as a context menu(?). I
am highly unsure what event we could get the globalPos in these instances,
though.
- In the `klipper.cpp` reference, I am not too sure. Perhaps it can come from
`connect`?
- In `klipperpopup.cpp`, perhaps `QShowEvent` has a reference to globalPos?

Some usages in Qt of `globalPos` are listed as deprecated for some event types
(link 'f'), but I'm not sure if that applies here.

I would test this and submit an MR myself, but I don't have an environment
setup for tinkering with Plasmashell.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Klipper popup with the display configuration described
2. Observe offset mouse position on some displays, sometimes appearing

OBSERVED RESULT
The Klipper popup menu will usually not display under the mouse.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Klipper popup menu should always display under the mouse.

SUMMARY
KParts can't be embedded in Kirigami applications. KParts are one of KDE’s
biggest selling points for developers, in my eyes - being able to reutilize GUI
implementations of functionality like any CLI application would, as if the
developer were using in HTML. Few, if any, other frameworks provide
this capability.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to use KParts with Kirigami.

[dolphin] [Bug 483645] Drag and drop files to web browser only work for the first file

2024-04-17 Thread Dilam
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483645

If Firefox is closed and reopened, the next drag of file will work (only one
because of the bug).
This can be useful if you don't find a import button where you want to put a
file (a import button that open a folder window always works contrary to a
file's drag), or to reproduce the full bug sequence to make a video of it.

No, KWin only supports that API since Plasma 6, and it's not used on NVidia

Ah yes. That does appear to be the issue. It seems like Dolphin is
misclassifying gocryptfs mounts as network mounts.

I'm guessing, maybe it has always had this problem, but it has always been
occluded by ffmpegthumbs's behaviour of disregarding the preview limit. Then in
a recent update the preview limit is now respected, so the problem becomes
visible.

[krita] [Bug 485689] Vector layer incorrect transform result when both scaled and sheared

2024-04-17 Thread stuff
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485689

I looked into this: KisTransformWorker::transform() reports its supposed
transform, though never uses this function itself. This reported transform is
used for the vector layer's shape transforms and looks like:

return TS.inverted() * S * TS * SC * R * T;

Whereas KisTransformUtils::MatricesPack::finalTransform() looks like:

return TS * SC * S * projectedP * T;

Notice that SC and S are in a reverse order!

There are three different transforms in play
1) the bounding box during free transform (uses MatricesPack)
2) the rasterized result of KisTransformWorker, using its mathy inner
workings
3) the vector layer result using KisTransformWorker::transform()
I think 1 and 2 currently agree, but 3 doesn't, so I suspect maybe
KisTransformWorker is just reporting its own transform wrong?

Through trial and error I've found this function, a slight modification from
the current one, seems to fix this problem.
QTransform KisTransformWorker::transform() const
{
QTransform TS = QTransform::fromTranslate(m_xshearOrigin * m_xscale,
m_yshearOrigin * m_yscale);
QTransform S; S.shear(0, m_yshear); S.shear(m_xshear, 0);
QTransform SC = QTransform::fromScale(m_xscale, m_yscale);
QTransform R; R.rotateRadians(m_rotation);
QTransform T = QTransform::fromTranslate(m_xtranslate, m_ytranslate);

return SC * TS.inverted() * S * TS * R * T;
}
where I've swapped the order of scale and shear and compensated for that in the
translation

Also, with this modified version, at the end of
KisTransformUtils::createTransformWorker, MatricesPack(args).finalTransform()
tends to be equal or nearly equal (within 1e-5 component-wise) to
transformWorker.transform(), where it definitely wasn't before.  There's a
comment explaining KisTransformWorker::transform that does match the current
code, though, so I'm not sure what's going on.

[kwin] [Bug 485699] New: "inactive setting" effect should provide an option for multi screen

2024-04-17 Thread Cherkah
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485699

Bug ID: 485699
Summary: "inactive setting" effect should provide an option for
multi screen
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.4
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multi-screen
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: cherifkah...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In setting > desktop effects > "inactive setting" there is no option for
multi-screen setups.
The object of this affect is to darken inactive windows.

The issue = when this effect is active one screen appears brighter than the
other screen. So it obviously obscured the other screen as well

Now if you chose:
- settings > Window Behavior > focus > "Focus follows mouse (mouse
precedence)"
and
- settings > Window Behavior > focus > "Separate screen focus" = activated

you get a combination that prevents you from restricting the "inactive setting"
effect only to the screen you are working on.

And I don't want to deactivate this effect for obvious reasons.

OBSERVED RESULT
On two screens: one is bright && the other is noticeably darker (depending on
the defined darkness level)

EXPECTED RESULT
Get all my screens as bright as the level predefined in the settings > energy
saving > display and brightness

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0
Kernel Version: 6.8.6-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ps: the "active screen follows mouse" option made it possible to counter this
inconvenience by not affecting the brightness of the other screens.

It's a bit weird that we pester the user for donations right after they install
the system. By this point they may not have made up their mind about it yet and
the request may feel awkward or forced.

We already ask for donations after upgrade, where it's going to have a higher
impact.

[dolphin] [Bug 471279] Dolphin crash when dragging files or folders across or to the path navigation bar

2024-04-17 Thread Michał Dybczak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471279

It is very possible that my report is the same as bug 485258.
I never clearly noticed what was done differently from times it didn't crash. I
assume it was the file, because it crashed repeatedly when I tried to upload
it. However, the next day, there was no issue with that action using the same
file.

I checked the dragging over the Dolphin's path area, and it did crash it, so
this is easy reproducible. To drag-drop file, I often have to position Dolphin
in certain way, then the file has also fixed position within a window, and the
area of the site where I should drag the file is also fixed, so it is very,
very possible, I was repeating the same move over the path area, causing the
crash.
