https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487245 Yaron Shahrabani changed: What|Removed |Added CC||sh.ya...@gmail.com --- Comment #8 from Yaron Shahrabani --- I've attached the current situation in Fedora 41 w/ KDE. I just need to explain the background: The app is still not translated into Hebrew, which makes sense since I only translated the trunk. However, the list of countries is translated because it's from a common source. It looks like the regional indicators appear inside the flag instead of the flag itself. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[digikam] [Bug 487613] New: Fit to Window in Preview does not scale up smaller images
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487613 Bug ID: 487613 Summary: Fit to Window in Preview does not scale up smaller images Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.4.0 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Preview-Image Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: carbonwer...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY While there are aspects of the Fit To Window option (for Preview) that seem to work, some dont, and some behave in ways that make no sense (and are inconsistent with mainstream image viewers- Faststone, ACDSee, Windows Photos, the Adobe products I have, etc). STEPS TO REPRODUCE With a higher-resolution monitor (I run 2600x1900), images that are smaller than some value (in the case being reported, an image that is 272 x 299 pixels) is not affected at all by fit to window. Larger files (I dont know the cutoff) seem to scale up OK, and images larger than the display area seem to scale down properly. Ironically, in Thumbnail mode with scaling set to 100%, the thumbnail of this image is significantly larger on screen than is the preview of the file... As for the other weirdness- if you mouse-wheel zoom in to force this image to scale up, now sequential images ignore the fit-to-window config option- zoom is retained; it seems that by manually zooming to bypass this problem, you cause the fit-to-window setting to disable. OBSERVED RESULT As outlined in the steps-to-reproduce EXPECTED RESULT There is no case in a library where you would want this non-scaling to happen if fit-to-window is enabled, where it remains possible to override that default scaling via manual zoom modes. If you have an icon etc that is blown out by the upscale, and you zoom out to get a better idea of actual display, that doesnt imply anything about other images. If fit-to-window is enabled, that should persist with an image change during browsing a library. If it isnt desired, then the user should simply disable the mode. Perhaps, if there was real need, there could be a flag in the image or thumbnail database that persists the last zoom mode, where if it is 0, that means default to system setting, and if it is some positive value, that would represent the last value the user selected as a custom zoom for that image etc. So, at least then, if the user has a mix of images and icons etc, the system would remember any manual zoom applied to a particular image. Maybe a keypress restores that to 100% to save time after manual zoom ops. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280645 --- Comment #11 from AvidSeeker --- Thank you for your work. I just tested the feature on kate 24.02.2 and it works. However, RTL and LTR text directions are mutually exclusive. It doesn't make sense to have it as a checkbox instead of a toggle. This makes the common operation of switching directions hard to reach. Compare this with how other programs implement it like Firefox where it is only a single shortcut that toggles the text direction: Ctrl+Shift+X. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 487610] Titlebar Buttons don't show during initial login & autostart.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487610 --- Comment #1 from Eric Renfro --- Further information on this. I went to edit the Titlebar Buttons and moved the Shade to the right of the Sticky button, and it worked, flawlessly for several attempts. But when I moved it back to the left of the sticky button it literally vanished from t he window titlebars as I applied it. It's hard to reliably repeat this issue consistently because moving the buttons around don't tend to want to drag into place but want to go to the extreme edges, or simply not where I actually point it to be. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487610 Bug ID: 487610 Summary: Titlebar Buttons don't show during initial login & autostart. Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.4 Platform: openSUSE OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: decorations Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: psi-j...@linux-help.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 169867 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169867&action=edit Visual setup of titlebar buttons used in final resulting situation. SUMMARY I've customised my titlebar buttons in a way that isn't very complex, but has the close-window, minimize, maximize, app-menu on the left side, sticky, help, and actions on the right, which worked fine for what I could tell. Then I added the shade option to the beginning of the right side, so I could roll up windows but keep them handy. This shade button does not show up most times during login/autostart of applications, including Betterbird (Flatpak), Vivaldi (titlebar enabled), Discord (Flatpak), and Ferdium which are my usually auto-started applications. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Settings. Go into Window Decorations, and Titlebar Buttons, adjust the titlebar options to close, minimize, maximize, appmenu, and sticky, help, and actions. Apply. Close settings. Possibly reboot, relog, etc.. 2. Open Settings. Go into Window Declarations, and Titlebar Buttons, add in the Shade option to the right side next to sticky. Apply, close settings, reboot/relogin/etc. 3. Insure that autostarted applications are running, as this effect seems to only be during initial login. OBSERVED RESULT Titlebar Buttons are mostly there, but Shade is specifically not there during autostarted applications. EXPECTED RESULT All Titlebar Buttons to be present accordingly. Especially Shade, the newer set button. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487606 Bug ID: 487606 Summary: Windows no longer appear in the right order after a while using plasma's activities Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.5 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: activities Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: brea...@ik.me Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 169865 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169865&action=edit Screenshot illustrating the focusing problem, Firefox and even a contextual menu of the same app is rendered behind a opened window of Dolphin SUMMARY When using KDE's Activities (this bug never occurs if I don't use this feature), after some times the window that is supposed to be focused will rendered *behind* everything else. Contextual menus are also affected (both menu created by the app (like the ones created by a GTK application, like Firefox) or menu created by Plasma/Kwin (ex. ALT+F3 menu)). I would like to say that the problem will systematically affect all window, on every workspace, no matter what… but I'm afraid the bug is a little more vicious than that. But it will definitely happens with new window once KWin starts to become dumb, and will not only affect the window that you already created before switching to an another activity. A little note to precise that if you have created numbers of activities inside your Plasma desktop, the bug will not happen if you don't switch to them at any point since your desktop's startup. Manually restarting plasmashell ( `killall plasmashell && kstart plasmashell` ) is also not a workaround, I sincerely believe that this is a KWin problem. I don't have any other hardware than this one using an integrated UHD 600 graphic driver so I cannot say if this is reproducible on an hardware with a NVIDIA or AMD GPU, sorry for that. BUT I will precise later if this problem also happens on a Plasma X11 session, I did not think about trying before starting to write this bug report and I don't wanna rewrite it from scratch. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create some activities, at least one 2. Do you stuff on both activities for some times 3. After some times, create a new window inside a previously opened activity, on a workspace that already contain at least one window 4. Profit OBSERVED RESULT On a "multi-window inside the same workspace" scenario, the focused window will show-up behind every other windows EXPECTED RESULT I'm going to take the developers for dummies if I describe the expected result. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Leave VRR at auto default 2. Start a game in Proton with e.g. VKD3D-Proton 3. In the game, enable vsync OBSERVED RESULT Frame rate gets capped at maximum refresh rate multiplied with 2. With VRR set to "never" in KWin settings, vsync correctly caps the fps at the display's exact maximum refresh rate also with KWin 6.1 beta 1. [kdeconnect] [Bug 450905] Send file function starts transferring the file but freezes and never completes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450905 --- Comment #10 from skierpage --- (In reply to skierpage from comment #9) > It seems the fix in kdeconnect is to expand ~ before handing the path to > lower-level software. If this is the problem, it could be in how share/shareplugin.cpp calls: QUrl dir = QUrl::fromLocalFile(config()->getString(QStringLiteral("incoming_path"), defaultDownloadPath)); I don't think this does anything with "~" in the path, and it's unclear if QUrl understands a "~" in a file URL, and then KIO::mkpath(dir) fails. (As an aside, with decent language support for typing, it should be impossible to pass an unparsed path string with ~, $HOME, %1 or whatever into a function that takes an O.S. path -- rewrite it in Rust ;-) .) > I've used KDE Connect so long I can't remember what its default Save path was. I think it uses QStandardPaths::DownloadLocation which defaults to "~/Downloads". If I run `/usr/libexec/kdeconnectd --replace` in a terminal (I can never remember how to view qWarning() output), sending a file from Android prints: 2024-05-26T17:19:51 default: couldn't create QUrl("file:~/Downloads") 2024-05-26T17:19:51 default: couldn't create QUrl("file:~/Downloads") 2024-05-26T17:19:52 default: QNetworkReplyImplPrivate::error: Internal problem, this method must only be called once. 2024-05-26T17:19:52 default: QIODevice::write (QFile, "~/Downloads/MYIMAGEFILE.jpg"): device not open ... It works with the display's default EDID when no EDID override is in effect. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Configure to use a custom EDID as e.g. described in Arch wiki via drm.edid_firmware=edid/your_edid.bin: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/kernel_mode_setting#Forcing_modes_and_EDID (See the note about necessity to include it in initramfs, can be tricky on other distributions.) 2. Go to KWin's display settings and choose built-in color correction values. OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens vs. no calibration, unlike with default EDID. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450905 skierpage changed: What|Removed |Added CC||skierp...@gmail.com --- Comment #9 from skierpage --- This happened to me today. I think the last time I transferred Android -> Linux and it worked might have been May 8. My behavior is a little different. I share a picture from Google Photos or Google Files and quickly get an Android notification from KDE Connect version 1.30.1 "Failed sending file to fedlaptop", while KDE Connect 24.02-2 on my laptop pops up a "Receiving file" progress notification that never completes. But unlike @TraceyC, I don't see any partial files. I Force stop'd KDE Connect on Android and restarted, and now sending files results in a fast notification "Receiving file (Failed) Received incomplete file: Error opening file:~/Documents/temp/: No such file or directory." I ran strace on the kconnectd PID and saw lines like: [pid 2402] statx(AT_FDCWD, "~/Documents/temp/2024-05-26_SFJAZZ_Holland_Potter_Hussain.png", AT_STATX_SYNC_AS_STAT|AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW|AT_NO_AUTOMOUNT, STATX_ALL, 0x7fffd73ee8d0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) Hold on, syscalls don't know about '~' for home directory! WORKAROUND: After I went into System Settings > KDE Connect > Share and receive > Configure and changed the "Save files in" path to a full path with no '~' (i.e. /home/MYUSERNAME/SOME/PATH), sending files worked! 👈 People, try this. It seems the fix in kdeconnect is to expand ~ before handing the path to lower-level software. (Or, worse, disallow ~ in the file chooser dialog.) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442319 Tuomas Nurmi changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|CONFIRMED CC||tuo...@norsumanageri.org --- Comment #4 from Tuomas Nurmi --- Based on discussion and extra information on mailing list, I managed to reproduce at least one case where this happens: With Phonon VLC backend, if a playing track is stopped, master volume is set to 0. Playback will continue with correct volume if a next track is played. However, if Amarok is shut down with playback stopped, the 0 gets written as the master volume setting and will be the initial volume on next startup. Will create a fix MR shortly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 487600] New: Weekday localization error

I've noticed a bug where the ending letter of every day of the week is wrong. I don't know which component of the stack is responsible for the calendar localization/translation but this does NOT happen either in xfce4 or by invoking "date" command in konsole while Plasma is running and the translation is correct. I've attached a screenshot to illustrate. This also happens in Plasma 6.0.5 For example for sunday it says "неділю" while "неділя" is correct. For saturday it says "суботу" while "субота" is right. Excerpt from "~/.config/kdeglobals": ``` [KScreen] ScaleFactor=1.25 ScreenScaleFactors=eDP-1=1.25;DP-1=1.25;DP-2=1.25;DP-3=1.25; ``` Example screen alignment as reported by `xrandr`: ``` eDP-1 connected 1600x900+0+180 DP-1 connected primary 1920x1080+1600+0 ``` OBSERVED RESULT The surface where the rectangular selection box is drawn on does not represent the actual screen contents, it displays a distorted image of contents from both screens where areas of the screens are repeated or shifted around. This mainly affects the primary monitory but if the secondary monitor does not have the same resolution as the primary one, it will also show a distorted image. After the screenshot has been taken it seems that the actual recording does match the screen contents, only the preview is misrepresenting the state which makes it almost impossible to select the correct region. EXPECTED RESULT The screen image during rectangular region selection should represent the actual contents of screens. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 24.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.11 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.13 Platform: X11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Note 1 The issue can be reproduced using VirtualBox easily utilizing its functionality to attach a second virtual display (if guest additions are installed) and reproducing a screen arrangement as described above accordingly. Note 2 The issue is not exclusive to Kubuntu. It also affects the following NixOS configuration: Linux/KDE Plasma: NixOS 23.11 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.11 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.113.0 Qt Version: 5.15.12 Platform: X11 Note 3 LXQt's screenshot tool ("screengrab") seems to suffer from similar issues and its author suspects it to be a Qt bug related to screen coordinates: https://github.com/lxqt/screengrab/issues/211 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Breeze] [Bug 487595] New: Breeze icon theme uses copyrighted icons without acknowledgement or compliance with the owners' guidelines
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487595 Bug ID: 487595 Summary: Breeze icon theme uses copyrighted icons without acknowledgement or compliance with the owners' guidelines Classification: Plasma Product: Breeze Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: Icons Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org Reporter: ad...@happyassassin.net CC: kain...@gmail.com, m...@nueljl.in Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The breeze icon theme repo includes https://github.com/KDE/breeze-icons/blob/master/COPYING-ICONS , which appears to describe the copyright claims for icons in the repository. It seems to claim that all the icons are original works and copyrighted under the LGPL. However, this is clearly not true. For example, breeze-icons/icons/actions/22/im-skype.svg is very clearly a modified version of Microsoft's Skype icon. This is copyrighted by Microsoft, and is very definitely not under the LGPL. Also, Microsoft provides a restrictive set of "brand guidelines" for Skype - currently at https://secure.skypeassets.com/content/dam/scom/pdf/skype_brand_guidelines.pdf - which specifically states "Do not alter the Skype icon in any way, including changing the colors, angle, or dimensions", but Breeze has made it monochrome. Similarly, breeze-icons/icons/actions/22/im-facebook.svg is a modified version of Facebook's own icon, which again is very definitely not LGPL. And again, this project is also violating the owner's brand guidelines - https://about.meta.com/brand/resources/facebook/logo/ - which specifically state "DON'T change the color of the logo" and "DON'T use just the 'f' from our logo". These are only two examples, there are several others (e.g. im-google.svg ). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Clone the git repo. 2. Read the copyright information. 3. Observe the presence of icons copyrighted by others without acknowledgement or license compliance. OBSERVED RESULT There are lots. EXPECTED RESULT There shouldn't be any.
