I think that implicitly saving the layout per activity / virtual desktop would
be the way to go.

The tiling setup is also the same in all activities. We might want to

Committed on 29/05/2024 at 05:43.
Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'master'.

shell: Don't set panelconfigview as an applet for stacking order purposes

This was added as a wokaround for the case of overlapping other panels.

As well as being semantically not entirley correct, it also causes
issues with stacking order as other popups from the panel that should be
on top of this window.

Hi Maik,

Note : The build with an older revision and Qt 6.7.0 under Windows pass, this
is not a problem.

The build with your last commits is under progress. I hope that upload will
work as expected (i'm not at home today). Many times, rsync from MSYS2 close
the connection socket, and i don't know why. I write a "try again" loop in the
script in this case, but it's do not improve well the situation. I think the
rsync Windows port is not perfect. Using a native CLI alternative to rsync
under Windows is the hell...

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Observable as soon as logged into the desktop environment. The darker the
background, the more noticeable. For example, open any window (e.g. Chrome) ->
maximize -> open bugs.kde.org
2. If your system theme is dark, or Chrome uses Dark Reader, most of the page
is dark, including the right edge, where the scrollbar is.
3. Notice within the last column of pixel (i.e. the rightmost line), speckles
(could be any of R, G, B) shows up and disappear at random locations, like a
Christmas tree. Currently most of them are within the 25%~50% region from the
top to bottom.
4. This may have to do with DPI and window settings. I use mine at 150%, and
tweaked the sizes in window settings. If I switch back to 100% things are fine.

OBSERVED RESULT
Colorful speckles at the right edge

EXPECTED RESULT
No such artifact

First off: the forum at https://discuss.kde.org/tag/kmymoney is better suited
for this kind of question than the bug tracker here.

But since we're at it: KMyMoney is using the AqBanking project for the online
communication with the institutions. FinTS is supported for many years already.
More on the topic HBCI vs. FinTS can be found here:
https://homebanking-hilfe.de/forum/topic.php?t=12508. We should probably add
FinTS to the collection of protocols :)

I have noticed this as well, but only with one application Brave (web browser).
To me, it started happening after I locked the desktop and left the computer
idle overnight. All other applications had thumbnails rendering OK and
restarting Brave would temporarily fix the issue.

The error I saw in the journalctl output is similar to what has been reported
by others:

plasmashell[66949]: kpipewire_logging: PipeWire remote error: -2 unknown
resource 8 op:4

I also noticed bug #477478 which seems to be duplicate.

It might not be desirable, as you probably want a 3rd-party icon theme
to fallback to Breeze in KDE, and Adwaita in GNOME. I don't see how that
would work with "inherits=".

2024-05-28 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487723

Bug ID: 487723
Summary: make adding text UI a little easier to use
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.08.5
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: imthenacho...@gmail.com
CC: okular-de...@kde.org
Depends on: 487721
  Target Milestone: ---

Okular is a fantastic PDF reader/tool.

I find the text entry (typewriter) UI a little clunky. You have to draw a box
and then enter text in a pop-up that gets embedded in.

I think it would be a lot cleaner if you can just click where you want to start
typing and then type live in the document. That way you can get a better sense
of placement and what not.

Kind of how Adobe PDF or PDF Studio do it.

SUMMARY
System tray settings popup showing behind panel settings dialog.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plasma beta 6.1 (6.0.90)
2. Using any hardware (tried both on my NVIDIA GPU PC and my Intel GPU Laptop
as well, it still occurs)

OBSERVED RESULT
When glancing over the system tray with the cursor (or any widget behind the
panel settings dialog) it hides behind the panel settings dialog making it
impossible to manage the settings of the widget. Right clicking on the widget
works as normal.

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to click on the applet's popup to change it's settings on front of
the panel settings dialog (if possible)

I'm trying to reproduce the effect, I admit I'm new to linux arch and I've
only been using KDE Plasma a couple of days now, so far what I see in
Plasma I like very much.
I didn't phrase myself properly,
I didn't mean initializing firefox with Konsole, but rather I did something
that caused firefox to load directly in konsole (does that make sense?) If
I can remember what I did it's driving me a little coo coo :) it's not
really a big deal.
I'm really more concerned with my loading crash of Inkscape in Plasma yet
Inkscape works fine when I boot into the gnome de.
Other than that I really like Plasma.

avahi-daemon
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 24.05.0
  Platform: Arch Linux

Status: REPORTED

https://discuss.kde.org

If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

SUMMARY

kdeconnect listens to the mdns port and runs an mdns server, which conflicts
with avahi-daemon -- whenever I run both, and come up from sleep, my hostname
becomes hostname-2.local, due to a "Host name conflict, retrying with
myhostname-2"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install kdeconnect
2. Install avahi daemon
3. Put computer to sleep and back up (I suspect I can just turn networking on
and off)

OBSERVED RESULT
avahi-daemon freaks out about having multiple mdns stacks on the same machine:

May 28 19:13:55 kelvie-lws avahi-daemon[441170]: *** WARNING: Detected another
IPv4 mDNS stack running on this host. This makes mDNS unreliable and is thus

May 28 19:13:55 kelvie-lws avahi-daemon[441170]: *** WARNING: Detected another
IPv6 mDNS stack running on this host. This makes mDNS unreliable and is thus
not recommended. ***

kdeconnect also has these log lines, not sure if they're related:
May 28 19:14:38 kelvie-lws kdeconnectd[418933]: 2024-05-28T19:14:38
kdeconnect.core: Error sending MDNS query response

May 28 19:14:38 kelvie-lws kdeconnectd[418933]: 2024-05-28T19:14:38

EXPECTED RESULT
To be able to use kdeconnect without losing my original mdns name from
avahi-daemon

Same here on Manjaro rolling release.

With the change to Plasma 6 all Systemmonitor-Panel Apps decreased their size.
I am on a 50" TV as display and when i use more than 2 cpu-sensors the size
(height and width) is unusable. With all 12 cpu-sensors the size is so small on
the 50" display, that i can see tiny pixels at the base when the cpu is under
load.

The same goes for the network sensors, they reduced their width by at least
50%, while still working in height.

[kwin] [Bug 487717] New: When adding a second screen with greater resolution than first screen, desktop wallpaper is constrained to smaller resolution of first monitor

2024-05-28 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487717

Bug ID: 487717
Summary: When adding a second screen with greater resolution
than first screen, desktop wallpaper is constrained to
smaller resolution of first monitor
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: git-stable-Plasma/6.1
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multi-screen
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: briguy...@live.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 169924
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169924&action=edit
This is a 2560x1440 resolution monitor, but wallpaper is constrained to
1920x1080. Black space should not be here and wallpaper should be full screen

SUMMARY
I have two monitors. Primary is 1920x1080, secondary is 2560x1440. I have both
monitors using the same wallpaper settings.

If I start my PC and only the single Primary monitor is enabled, and then at
the desktop I turn on my second monitor, instead of scaling the wallpaper and
desktop to 2560x1440, it instead thinks the background of the desktop should be
1920x1080. The taskbar extends across the entire screen as expected, and I can
even move my cursor and desktop icons into the "black" area as shown in the
screenshot. I am unable to right click to invoke the desktop context menu in
the black space. Changing resolution and reverting keeps the 1920x1080 limit
and does not fix it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two monitors, Monitor A 1920x1080 and Monitor B 2560x1440
2. Only have Monitor A turned on, and start PC and go to the desktop
3. While at the desktop, turn on Monitor B
4. Observe the desktop background of Monitor B

OBSERVED RESULT
Wallpaper and desktop background remains capped at 1920x1080 even on Monitor B
which has a resolution of 2560x1440

EXPECTED RESULT
Wallpaper and desktop update with each monitors resolution, even if they are
added after you get to the desktop.

Kmail doesn't work at all now.

After some time I get my IMAP hotmail account giving an error it can't
authenticate the account any longer (though it works initially) and EWS is just
broken and can't authenticate the account (gives an "access is denied" error
when it did not previously).

Can it be fixed please? Kmail is a nice client for linux and is almost the only
one that has EWS working for my organization.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487715

Bug ID: 487715
Summary: alt-d-s shortcut to open desktop settings does nothing
until you click on the desktop once (Plasma 6.0.90)
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ad...@happyassassin.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When first starting a Plasma 6.0.90 desktop, if you hit alt-d-s without doing
anything else, it doesn't launch Desktop Settings as it should. However, e.g.
alt-f2 does work to open a launcher dialog. If you click on the desktop once,
alt-d-s now works as expected. I guess this is a focus issue?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into a clean Plasma 6.0.90 desktop (tested on Fedora Rawhide)
2. Immediately, without doing anything else, hit alt-d-s
3. Now click once on the desktop and hit alt-d-s again

OBSERVED RESULT
First alt-d-s does not launch desktop settings, second one does

EXPECTED RESULT
First alt-d-s should launch desktop settings

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Rawhide, Plasma 6.0.90

That version info I think was filled in by DrKonqui (I don't remember writing
it).

It happened again. Here is what happened to poor /dev/null when when it was
Firefox I resized, so that KDE6 crashed and can't be restarted:

> ls -l /dev/null
-rw--- 1 root root 9 mai 29 00:47 /dev/null
> sudo xxd devnull

Looks a bit like a possible bug in libmtp. Probably worth inspecting our code

Not terribly informative.

How about `journalctl --lines=50 --no-pager ` just after you triggered the

[systemsettings] [Bug 487714] New: Synchronize more font settings to gtk

2024-05-28 Thread Ilya Fedin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487714

Bug ID: 487714
Summary: Synchronize more font settings to gtk
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

***

SUMMARY
I checked gtk settings on my machine and found that kde-gtk-config seem to not
to sync anything except of gtk-font-name. But there's more to sync (description
/ settings.ini key / gsettings key / xsettings key):

Antialiasing (0 / 1): gtk-xft-antialias /
org.gnome.desktop.interface.font-antialiasing (none / grayscale / rgba) /
Xft/Antialias
Hinting (0 / 1): gtk-xft-hinting / / Xft/Hinting
Hint style (hintnone / hintslight / hintmedium / hintfull): gtk-xft-hintstyle /
org.gnome.desktop.interface.font-hinting / Xft/HintStyle
RGB subpixel order (rgba (none) / rgb / bgr / vrgb / vbgr): gtk-xft-rgba /
org.gnome.desktop.interface.font-rgba-order / Xft/RGBA
Monospace font: / org.gnome.desktop.interface.monospace-font-name /

Document font (KDE doesn't seem to have this, perhaps set the general one?):
 / org.gnome.desktop.interface.document-font-name /

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Check settings.ini / org.gnome.desktop.interface section in dconf-editor /
dump_xsettings

OBSERVED RESULT
Font settings to be set

EXPECTED RESULT
Font settings aren't set except of gtk-font-name (general font)

Any chance you could test the patch on your system too?

It seems to work here and no longer relies on "id" to be "0x"

> This is a third party product breaking things, sorry.
> Maybe on wayand we can do something better.

_NET_WORKAREA was just a guess. But KDE already has correct per screen
information as when a window is maximized, it will not go into 'third-party'
docks area. Therefore, the correct screen data already exists somewhere. This
is not a problem specific with tint2. I don't use tint2, I only used it as it's
common to have on different distro's. Every panel that is attempted to be used
will have this problem.

Please re-open as a bug withing KDE as this is definitely not a "a third party
product breaking things". The code that lays out folders on the desktop is
simply wrong. I understand this is annoying and somewhat hard to fix. If you
need help. Let me know.
