[plasmashell] [Bug 488538] With a short screen, Notification about removing an applet is partially off screen while "Show Panel Configuration" is active
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488538 --- Comment #2 from cwo --- Created attachment 170575 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=170575&action=edit For comparison: Notification overlaps Add Widget interface Yes, that is what I figured as well. The question is whether it *should* successfully try to do so if there's not enough space. If you place the tray to the left and have the "Add widget" interface open, a notification will just overlap it (it always takes the whole screen, so the only way to dodge it would be to the side). This is clearly worse than properly dodging if that can work, but it doesn't look too bad - see the attached screen shot. Feels more intentional than having it partially off screen. (Short screen size is very well taken; maybe Plasma/Neon shouldn't suggest 150% by default on a 13" 1920x1080 screen under Wayland? There's a couple other points where it's just a bit too little space; System Settings with the Wireless & Network kcm doesn't quite fit the screen width-wise, for example). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Anyone not enough of a technical expert to know that probably shouldn't be manually deleting stuff from ~/.local/share/! ...But that's not the world we live in, so it's probably reasonable to handle these cases. Another example came up today where a person failed to copy all the files over properly during a restore-from-backup. So IMO these are the cases it would make sense to handle: Data files are missing, but plasmavaultrc file exists: - Show a message in the UI that the vault got broken because its data was deleted. Advise the user to recover it from backup, showing the past that Vaults expects to find it at. Also offer a "delete vault" button they can use to clear the entry and start over if the data files were removed intentionally, or no backup is available. plasmavaultrc file is missing, but the data files exist: - Recreate the data that would exist in plasmavaultrc based on the names of the data files -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Before (plasma 5.27.11) the problem already existed, but the black border was actually currupted, in a way that everything that was drawn there from some window remained in that area across desktops. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use wayland with a fhd display @100% and a 4k display @150%. 2. Switch both displays off and on again. OBSERVED RESULT Background of the 4k screen has a huge black border on bottom and right. (See attached screenshot.) Changing the background picture itself does not recover it. But changing between e.g. picture and folder background solves it for the moment. EXPECTED RESULT Background is displayed as before, correctly over the full screen area. [frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 453661] Global shortcuts are not working across multiple keyboard layouts (US and CZ for me)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453661 --- Comment #42 from ezh --- My bug was marked as dup of this, but i'm not really sure it is... Fedora 40, Wayland. 1. I had to make two keyboard shortcuts to launch KCalc: a) one for EN and ET (Estonian) - CTRL-Shift-> (the left from Z) b) one for RU - CTRL-Shift-| KDE allows two shortcuts to be made, so it works fine and I'm happy. 2. Other issue without a workaround is mapping a mouse button for CTRL-W, to closing a tab in Firefox or Dolphin window (that is my bug 485196 about). a) pressing CTRL-W on the keyboard is working OK using EN, ET and RU layouts b) but mouse button assigned to CTRL-W does not work when in RU layout Checked on Dolphin, Firefox, Pinta, even installed Chrome. Now KDE allows only one shortcut for mouse bindings. So, it does not work and I'm not happy at all. :( Is the mouse binding the same issue? Maybe KDE as a workaround could allow to set different bindings for a mouse, as it does for keyboard? PS Just checked, when I'm binding a mouse button in RU layout and press CTRL-W (Ц in RU layout), then the UI shows CTRL-W. I believe it is a different issue... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
