[plasmashell] [Bug 488677] User icon is corrupted in application launcher until refreshed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488677 ratijas changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from ratijas --- IIRC it is an upstream issue with QtQuick not refreshing the texture buffers after waking up from sleep. Textures would contain a garbage data and need to be redrawn, but QtQuick doesn't realize that and keeps it cached that way until the Item source is changed in a way that requires redrawing it. This is why KWin has "graphical effects have been reset" notification — to fix the same bug on a window manager level, so that the whole window surfaces and effect's texture won't stay garbled. So, probably RESOLVED UPSTREAM, but I'll let KWin wizards say it for sure. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasma-systemmonitor] [Bug 434877] High CPU usage
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434877 --- Comment #28 from Mark --- There always has been a resource issue with ksysguard and plasma-systemmonitor! It's just much more notable in plasma-systemmonitor. Some people say the fix is to reduce the sampling rate, reading files or heck even throw in io_uring as a "solution". No. plasma-systemmonitor sucks up an easy 50% across all cores. That is in any tab. Look at btop (https://github.com/aristocratos/btop) for example. In it's options (General -> Update ms) set it to 500ms. That very much over the top (pun intended) system monitor ONLY sucks up ~3% at that setting. Before anyone even thinks: "ohh, I bet it uses io_uring for that"... No, it doesn't! It uses: - standard C++ ifstream - does NOT use smaps_rollup, instead seems to be getting that from each individual pid in the stat, statm and smaps file. Little difficult to figure out precisely without diving in deep. So something is very very very very wrong in plasma-systemmonitor for it to behave so bad that it takes up 50% on all cores. Sidenote. The plasma-systemmonitor cpu usage is erratic. I've seen it - just while writing this message! - consume just a few percentages all the way up to 50%... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When I open the KCM for the first time after a reboot, the auto-rotate controls are all missing. When I flip my laptop's screen around to enter tablet mode, the controls appear. This is governed by the following visibility condition in https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kscreen/-/blob/master/kcm/ui/Orientation.qml?ref_type=heads#L23: visible: kcm.autoRotationSupported && kcm.orientationSensorAvailable I did a bit of testing, and what happens is that the value of kcm.orientationSensorAvailable doesn't become true until I flip around my laptop's lid to enter Tablet Mode. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488139 --- Comment #13 from Nate Graham --- Looked at the code. Your issue is caused by Bug 488148; when we detect there's no tablet mode available, we disable the UI to control whether auto-rotation happens only in tablet mode. The detection is not working as expected for you; but the code in the KCM is doing the right thing with the data it's getting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

What I'm seeing is that the auto-rotate controls aren't visible when I open the page, but when I enter tablet mode by flipping my laptop's lid back, the controls appear. Clearly the visibility condition of those controls is buggy, and I suspect the issue you're seeing is related to this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 488719] Not able to screenshare, due to screensharing popup being blank
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488719 --- Comment #18 from Matija --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #17) > The blank popups is being drawn by your web browser. > > I suspect one of the following things happened: > 1. The browser broke > 2. The browser is running in XWayland mode and this previously worked > because you has XWaylandVideoBridge running, but it's not running right now. Don't think so, as this started happening just after the update to 6.1. First screencast shows it happening in Slack. Second one in Firefox Developer edition. Tried with Google Chrome and it can share Chrome Tab ONLY, but fails with a window or a screen. OBS can't record screen anymore (it's black). Weird that suddenly all browsers broke or switched to XWayland. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
