https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489230 k...@weintraut.eu changed: What|Removed |Added CC||k...@weintraut.eu --- Comment #3 from k...@weintraut.eu --- Hi there. I'm using IntelliJ Ultimate for my daily business on Manjaro. After updating Plasma 5 to version 6, IntelliJ became unusable in my multi display setup. Unplugging all external displays solved the issue, but that's not an option to me. A couple a days ago I set up a new machine. Since I set up IntelliJ with an OpenJDK instead of the JBR, I did not run into that issue so far. But I read the comment wondering about if it may be an issue of the Plasma update process. On this new machine I started with Plasma 6, so I just gave that idea a try and started IntelliJ without all the workarounds. As a result I got an IDE that was quite usable, but still had issues especially with animations fading in and out the menu bar menus or dialogs. I configured only a couple of Manjaro settings, animation settings have not been changed by me. It's still a recognizable improvement running the IDE with that custom IDE setting (-Dwatch.desktop.geometry=false) and the custom JBR provided in that JetBrains issue linked with this KDE issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

GNOME Control Center doesn't have this issue and actually offers ways to connect to networks as well. This seems especially confusing with the "+" button at the bottom, since in no way does that one suggest it only works for creating hotspots rather than also creating connections as a client to existing hotspots. Also, even more confusing is that when not being connected the Wi-Fi card isn't even listed, which feels like the driver is just plain broken. My apologies if this is just me, or if there is an obvious connect button and I just missed it. I have therefore attached a suggested UI how the Wi-Fi should be listed when not connected, with a dummy entry to allow connecting to new networks which would ideally open up some popup showing the list of networks available. Then the list in the "+" button popup could also be revised to differentiate between new "Wi-Fi Hotspot" and new "Wi-Fi Client Connection" in the lit, and the latter could also show this Wi-Fi network popup to pick one. All of this is also a problem in case the plasma quick settings malfunction: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489481 since in that case, unlike with GNOME, it's seemingly no longer possible to use Wi-Fi. Having less points of failures here might be beneficial. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open up Wi-Fi & Networking panel in KDE settings and see attached screenshot OBSERVED RESULT Seemingly there's no way to connect to any wi-fi, even though it says "Wi-Fi & Networking" EXPECTED RESULT Obvious way to connect to a wi-fi in that section SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Another weird thing I noticed with 100% scaling was when you have FF in focus+maximised and have a video iframe on the active tab like the homepage video of a youtube channel, doesn't matter if the video is actively playing or not, the desktop has dropped frames when switching virtual desktops via keyboard shortcuts. Specifically when going from another virtual desktop back to the desktop with FF in focus. If you switch desktops fast enough, it seems like only the first animation back to the desktop with FF lags and the rest are smooth. However, if you switch desktops with a 3 second-ish delay, then each animation going back to the desktop with FF has dropped frames. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This happens not only when the program is opened. This delay occurs by chance and I have not found any patterns. And this forces me to overwrite the voice segments several times, because every time I click on record, I do not know if there will be a delay or if recording will start immediately. I have disabled the standard delay (countdown before recording in the program settings). I can't turn it on, because it will slow down my work speed even more. Previously, there was no delay before recording. And now it occurs by accident, which greatly interferes with work. Please fix it. [kwin] [Bug 488476] Lingering scene/workspacescene issue resulting in system freeze?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488476 --- Comment #5 from Nick --- Even if mangohud didn't have that flicker with the FPS 0/inf frametime drop when kwin was downgraded to 6.0.3.1? Unfortunately trying to downgrade below kwin 6.1.1 now results in being unable to start a session, and I hadn't tried to force a freeze when I was able to do so. Some additional things: 1. I checked the x11 session and mangohud behaved like on the wayland session, so I suppose the component should be "general." 2. While experimenting with various games, I found that after launching a fullscreened Unity game (through wine, and several worked) with mangohud multiple times, eventually mangohud stops doing those things when the window loses and regains focus. This then applies to any further launched fullscreen application with mangohud enabled. I have no idea why this happens. 3. With mangohud doing those things, I can't seem to force a freeze now on kwin 6.1.1 and 6.1.1.2. After I opened this issue I was using gamescope when possible to avoid freezing. If it does happen again, I will open an issue there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 404057] Uses an insane amount of memory (RSS/PSS) writing a *ton* of data while re-indexing unchanged files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404057 --- Comment #47 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org --- (In reply to Kai Krakow from comment #46) > ... Just my 2 cents, no need to re-open ... Thank you! My experience is empirical, I tested out various combinations to see how they behaved. Means, of course, that I might have noted the behaviour at one moment in the implementation of the systemd limits / OOM behaviours. I'm pretty sure that behaviours were changing in the period I was testing... That said, I've not noticed the percentages behaving differently than a defined amount of memory (so, I think a "MemoryHigh=25%" on a 2GB system acts the same as a "MemoryHigh=512M"). It would be interesting if this was not the case... I'm pretty sure the "MemoryHigh" is a soft limit, I was able to push the usage to just a little above the given limit but the process slowed down (markedly, when I pushed hard), I think when trying to claim more memory. I tried the same with MemoryMax but this seemed to be a hard limit. I tried setting a MemoryHigh with a slightly higher MemoryMax but it didn't seem to bring any benefits, the MemoryHigh on its own seemed to be quite effective at limiting Baloo's memory use. I'm also pretty sure that even with a defined MemoryHigh, Baloo releases memory when other processes require it. Certainly, there was dropping and rereading of clean pages when Baloo was closing on the limit. That was visible in iotop. I noticed in "pathological cases", indexing large quantities of data and having to manage very many dirty pages, pushed Baloo to swap and performance very clearly suffered (even when the rest of the system has sufficient space). I think it's (likely) worthwhile adding the MemorySwapMax=0 for Baloo to stop it reaching that point (although only if MemoryHigh is reasonable). The argument being an OOM for Baloo is (likely) better than it swapping. This is a value judgement through... I think we should stay with the systemd caps on memory use, there were so many bugs/reports about Baloo slugging performance before the change. Those calls have dropped to a very few (and are more about the limits probably being too low) As I said, this is very much the result of "from the outside in", empirical testing. Not something I can argue is right, particularly given your information (thank you once again), just something I've seen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

To clarify a bit, Krita 5.2.3 actually was released for Linux, Windows and Mac on Steam last Tuesday (even before our release announcement post went up), but has unfortunately since been rolled back to 5.2.2 due to the problem that Dmitry mentioned causing users to experiences frequent assertion failures (crashes). As a paying customer I can understand how that's frustrating, so to make sure you have some agency here too I have pushed Krita 5.2.3 to the "beta" branch for Krita on Steam. (Access by right clicking on Krita -> Properties -> Betas tab -> "beta" Branch. Steam may take a minute to switch back.) We've never had to roll back a release on Steam before, and I realize it's not ideal, but it seemed to be the better option than continuing to ship an update with frequent crashes to Steam customers. Providing timely updates to people like you who choose to support us on Steam is not something that I take lightly and in the ~6 years since I've been managing Krita on Steam, I can only think of 1 time that we've been late to push an update there (which was due to me being unavailable at the time). I give you my word that I'll push the Krita 5.2.3 update to Steam as soon as humanly possible once we have a stable release build available.
