[kwin] [Bug 489952] Inconsistent frame timing of cursor on desktop and some apps
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489952 --- Comment #14 from pallaswept --- (In reply to Zamundaaa from comment #13) > Okay, there's 58 frames dropped because of late atomic commits in the log of > the 60Hz monitor (vs. only 10 on the 120Hz one), which would also affect the > cursor. I think the fix for bug 490358 should help here too. Hmm, I'm not so sure that's the same issue I'm seeing - In this timeframe on the 120Hz monitor I would have had in the region of hundreds of frames where it should have drawn the cursor but didn't. If I draw a circle on my desktop I see several, maybe 10 breaks in that single circle of cursors, and in these logs I draw many dozens of circles. That bug is also reported as being worse under CPU load, whereas mine is not. There's no effect by any CPU load I've been able to generate with stress-ng or everyday apps, and I have no gradient of good-to-bad effect with mine, there's no better/worse, it's either doing it, or it isn't. The only thing that seems to have any effect is what the cursor is being drawn above. I also wonder about this, on my 5900X+3090 system, this rig is getting old but it's still pretty fast. I haven't read into your patch, but f you had to slow down kwin for this system, I'd say there might be something else wrong. I attempted to better capture the two behaviours in my logs. Attached are four files - one for each monitor, and one for each of two scenarios. The first scenario, I reboot, open the launcher, draw 20 circles on the desktop on the 60Hz hdmi monitor, then 20 circles on the 120Hz DP monitor. The second scenario is the same, but I open firefox before drawing the circles, and maximise it to the display I'm drawing on, so I'm drawing circles over firefox rather than over the desktop. The immediately most interesting thing about this is that yes, that's a 0 byte file, for the desktop (no firefox) scenario, on the 120Hz monitor (my secondary). I'm not sure if that's a sign that this logging can't capture this fault, or if it's a hint as to why this fault is seen? Hope this is helpful. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Two different reproduction steps that work for me: (usual setup for getting android to accept remote keyboard input from KDE Connect) - Switch to a keyboard layout with dead keys. Attempt to send the combination character of ` and a (i.e. à). The character does not get sent, but appears in the text field - Have middle mouse button pastes selection/primary enabled. Select some text, then paste it into the text field by pressing the middle mouse button. The text does not get sent (like it does with Ctrl+V pasting); instead the text appears in the text field. [systemsettings] [Bug 486344] "Install..." button does not work when Icon Pack has multiple packs available for download
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486344 leon.ha...@protonmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Ever confirmed|0 |1 Resolution|FIXED |--- --- Comment #2 from leon.ha...@protonmail.com --- I wasnt not sure if i should open a new bug report, as this bug is still not properly fixed. So i decided to reopen this one, if you want me to open a complete new bug report, i can do that. Sorry if i wasnt supposed to reopen it :) The bug did evolve a bit. The buttons for install of specific version work fine if you are in the initial window where you search the icon packs. Right after you click "Get new...". If you click on "Install" directly from that window, the installation will work as expected. But if you enter an icon pack page (i.e. double click on one of the offered icon packs) and try to install from there, it does not work. Same behavior as this bug's original description. Here is the software versions: Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.9.11-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kscreenlocker] [Bug 490924] The first password attempt is rejected after system wakes from sleep.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490924 --- Comment #19 from Sophie Dexter --- (In reply to Fabian Vogt from comment #18) > Can you please try this (with the working local config as base): > > "authsufficient pam_sss.so > forward_pass" > > after pam_unix (this should bring the issue back) and then Yes it did! > > "authsufficient pam_sss.so > use_first_pass" > > instead? I wonder whether that avoids the issue as well. Please keep a local > root shell open when editing PAM config. and, yes it did :-) I used 'sudo vi /etc/authselect/password-auth' when editing, unsure what I was supposed to do/see with the root shell though,? > If this works, the PAM_CONV_ERR return does not fully quit the PAM stack and > it just gets stuck at pam_sss. > The fix would be to return PAM_CONV_ERR until pam_authenticate returns > failure. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491280 --- Comment #4 from jf0...@mail.com --- KeepassXC installed and running with Secret Service API enabled. Tested to work with Firefox as intended. Scenario #1 Disabled "Use KWallet for the Secret Service interface" Enabled "Enable the KDE wallet subsystem" Network manager stores VPN passwords in KWallet, and not in KeepassXC. Does not query KeepassXC. I have a vague, indistinct memory that this was removed in the recent past during a cleanup on the assumption that it was a niche feature nobody would miss. I can't find the commit that did it, though. CCing some people who might have better memory than me. Or maybe I'm wrong and it just broke! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasma-nm] [Bug 490679] When airplane mode switch is turned off, Wi-Fi remains disabled
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490679 --- Comment #8 from Nate Graham --- We're talking about the original bug report, which is what middle-clicking the applet compactrepresentation to disable airplane mode doesn't turn wifi back on. I was able to reproduce that in the recent past, but not anymore, leading to the conclusion that it got fixed by something. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 491226] Native Wayland clients keep being marked as "unresponsive" even after they recover
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491226 Harald Sitter changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #3 from Harald Sitter --- https://invent.kde.org/sitter/crashinator/-/commit/03f174adb7c7905f42df57ef221d062a2e7ac767 Glancing at the code that has to do with how we detect ANR on wayland. We send a ping to the surface when either the window gets focus or a window close is issued. You can actually see that very well in crashinator. - If you trigger a hang and do absolutely nothing (outside) the window will **not** turn unresponsive at all because kwin never sent a ping. - If you trigger a hang and change focus away and back, the window will turn unresponsive. - If you then do absolutely nothing again the window will stay unresponsive even after having recovered. - If you then again do a focus change the window will turn responsive again. `crashinator --platform xcb` meanwhile never detects the window as unresponsive unless you click close and then obviously it closes once it turns responsive again. We just outright have no means to detect unresponsive windows outside the close scenario. That said, the trouble appears to be that the the ever so late pong is eventually ignored by handlePongReceived because handlePingTimeout erased the serial and handlePongReceived was changed to only turn windows responsive if the serial is in m_pings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
