[frameworks-kio] [Bug 456198] Targets of relative symbolic links are resolved incorrectly in the status bar

2024-06-27 Thread Alan Prescott
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456198

You are correct in that the target is the same whether the symlink is absolute
or relative but, personally, I'd have thought that the path displayed would be
the same as if I'd typed `ls -l`.
If the link always shows as an absolute path then we're missing the chance to
provider the user with available information which (s)he will have to go to a
terminal window to find out.

Absolute symlinks are OK

Relative symlinks show the target as an absolute path (using '~' if the target
is in the user's home folder)

So, better, but not quite right in Plasma 6.0.5 - I will check again when

Kate Version 24.05.0

Kate -> Settings -> Settings -> Application Startup Behaviour = Load last use
session

If kate closed automatically during reboot, on restart the session/file active
when kate was last closed manually is loaded - i.e. the behaviour is unchanged
since first reported

This should be marked as a low priority bug, it was just one I thought should
be pointed out, after all, I should close kate properly before logging out but
sometimes I'm just in a rush :)

SUMMARY
In the sidebar settings, when changing the name for a new category/group/note,
clicking the "Cancel" in the dialog does nothing. (Clicking "Apply" or pressing
Escape have the expected behaviour.)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to the "Settings" view.
2. In the "General" tab, in the "Sidebar" section, click on the text field for
any of these settings: "Name of new category", "Name of new group", or "Name of
new note". (N.B. I am currently using the French localization; the English
labels for these settings might be worded a bit differently than what I have
guessed here!)
3. Optionally, edit the text in the text field in the dialog that appears.
4. Click the "Cancel" button on the dialog.

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
The dialog should disappear and no changes should be made to the corresponding
setting.

kdeconnect on PC shows emergency alerts, but once they are acknowledged they
are no longer available.
This means that, if you didn't read the message fully or wanted to check a
detail, you have to go back to the 'phone to get the message

We're currently running an Earthquake Emergency exercise in Crete which is
where this has turned up. If the alerts get complex, giving locations,
telephone numbers etc. a re-read may be essential.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable Emergency Alerts on android 'phone
2. Receive alert (how you test this I've no idea)
3. Acknowledge the alert on kdeconnect on the PC
4. open kdeconnect from the systray to re-read the alert

EXPECTED RESULT

2024-03-19 Thread Alan Howshall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483995

You are correct that the download did work for me on the third attempt. However
as a UX designer I would suggest most users would likely only 'Try again' a
failed download 1x, before choosing 'Cancel' button that would lead to less
optimal results UNLESS you explicitly tell the user that you will automatically
re-try from a different download location.

So it's great that you've implemented that alternate download location
functionality (as I understand what you're saying about not having direct
control over mirror sources) BUT I would recommend either adding some
additional text to those error dialogs saying that you will re-try from a
different mirror. Maybe along with re-labelling current generic and repeated
'Try again' button wording with something like 'Try alternate'.

So the user understands that there's a decent chance of it working if they
click the Try button more than once. Which was not something I expected. I only
tried 3 times because had the same error during 8.2.0, put after cancel that
had left me with a crashing 8.2.0 whenever any tagging was involved. Hence I
was looking to gather extra evidence of a problem with these additional
downloads on fresh 8.3.0 install.

Thanks in advance, Alan

[digikam] [Bug 483995] New: Failure to download required files for face detection, red-eye removal and auto-tagging of images

2024-03-19 Thread Alan Howshall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483995

Bug ID: 483995
Summary: Failure to download required files for face detection,
red-eye removal and auto-tagging of images
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 8.3.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Setup-FirstRun
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@howshall.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 167467
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167467=edit
First received download error

SUMMARY
On fresh install of 8.3.0 64bit on Windows 10 during first run of DigiKam, when
prompted to install additional binaries to allow facial, red-eye and
auto-tagging of images I received errors the first two times that DigiKam
attempted to download yolov5x_batch_16_s320.onnx part of download.

The first time I got an error it was with a 'Connection closed' message (see
1st screenshot)

On selecting 'Try again' the download re-attempted, but I received a different
more detailed error page that confirmed an 'Error transferring' problem with
and same file (see 2nd screenshot).
Attempting to be retrieved from
https://mirror.faigner.de/kde/files/digikam/autotags/yolov5x_batch_16_s320.onnx
- Which does not appear to be a valid location.

On selecting 'Try again' again the same yolov5x_batch_16_s320.onnx did progress
successfully, but from a different mirror (see 3rd screenshot)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download /digikam/8.3.0/digiKam-8.3.0-Win64.exe (I downloaded mine from
https://mirrors.ukfast.co.uk/sites/kde.org/ftp/stable/digikam/8.3.0/digiKam-8.3.0-Win64.exe)
2. Install as a complete fresh install
3. When prompted say yes to installing additional face and image tagging
binaries
4. Some configured mirror locations do not contain additional files

OBSERVED RESULT
Received multiple errors trying to download prompted additional binary files

EXPECTED RESULT
That downloads should have worked from first location

[kdeconnect] [Bug 480201] New: Add a button to send link in clipboard

2024-01-22 Thread Alan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480201

Bug ID: 480201
Summary: Add a button to send link in clipboard
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Android
OS: Android 11.x
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: chen73...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Sometimes the app only provides a feature of copying link, not sharing. So it
would be great to use regular expressions to extract the link in the clipboard
and store it in a variable, and add a button, just like pushing clipboard, to
share the url to other device so that other device can directly open the url

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kdeconnect
2. click some app's button of sharing or copying

OBSERVED RESULT
Either the phone copy the link but can not send url to device, or the pc just
says opening it on text editor without opening it

EXPECTED RESULT
There is a button which could push url recognized by regular expression from
clipboard to other device

[digikam] [Bug 479769] New: Viewing a video locks file from being moved by DigiKam or OS, even after de-selecting the file

2024-01-13 Thread Alan Howshall
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479769

Bug ID: 479769
Summary: Viewing a video locks file from being moved by DigiKam
or OS, even after de-selecting the file
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 8.2.0
  Platform: Other

Screenshot of DigiKam error message on trying to move a video file that has
been recently previewed

SUMMARY
If you view any video file within latest Windows 8.2 it keeps that video
open/locked even after de-selecting. So attempts to move that file via DigiKam
or Windows will fail due to the file still being listed as open/in use.
Currently the only fix is to play a different video (or exit DigiKam) so that
original video will be released

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Preview an video within DigiKam
2. Click off to select (but not play) an alternate image or video within
DigiKam thumbnail view
3. Attempt to move original video file to a new folder location via DigiKam or
OS

OBSERVED RESULT
DigiKam and Windows OS say they cannot move the file

EXPECTED RESULT
DigiKam or Windows should be able to move the file as long as it's not being
actively played on selected in preview window

[digikam] [Bug 479768] Select Album doesn't show all child folders

View of same Select Album panel after manually expanding top folders of
initially closed album collections

Note there is no visual indication on the actual album name of whether albums
do or don't have sub folders (whereas all lower level folders have right or
down arrow icon to indicate expandability and open/closed status)
Current a user would have to hope/guess they need to double click on album name
to see sub folders. And they might be worried to do that thinking that that
would move the image(s) they originally selected to just the root of that album
collection

Initial display of Select album dialog with hidden top level folders for 2 out
of 3 album collections

SUMMARY
When selecting an image thumbnail and selecting 'Move to album...' from right
click context menu the 'Select album' dialog that opens only shows that there
are child directories for the last (/current?) album. Not any other separate
album collections.

This means a user may think that DigiKam doesn't know or won't allow them to
select folders within those other shown closed album collections.
Given that there's no visual arrow indication for top level album names, and
the user would need to double, not single, click to get DigiKam to expand those
hidden top level folders I feel this could cause confusion and problems for
many users.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On DigiKam 8.2 for Windows
2. Ensure that you have more than 1 album collection of images setup, and that
each of those collections has at least some top level sub folders
3. Go into one of those album collections
4. Select an image thumbnail and select 'Move to album...' from right
click/context menu

OBSERVED RESULT
When the 'Select albums' panel opens observe that only 1 of album collections
is showing sub-folders by default and there is no expand/hide arrow icon on top
level album names to indicate that DigiKam knows/allows expansion of that album
to see its top level folders.

EXPECTED RESULT
Either that all albums would display their top level folders by default.
Or that album collections need expand/hide arrow icon associated with them
(like all lower level folders do) so that there is visual and easy mouse method
to expand and contract first level folders of each album's tree

Not the original filer, but saw the same problems. I can report that for my
small-ish project (~30 clips), 23.08.04 fixed the missing transform effect
issues I was having previously.

I still did see the crash on switching sequence tabs, but the autosave seemed
to save me there.

Appreciate the work on kdenlive (newish user here), and I really like the

  Reporter: chen73...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
KDE Connect currently opens YouTube links directly from the shared content,
providing a seamless experience. However, when sharing links from the Bilibili
app, the content is shared as text with an embedded link, which does not open
directly. This creates inconsistency in the user experience.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Bilibili app on a mobile device
2. Choose and open any video within the app.
3. Use share feature and send it via kde connect

OBSERVED RESULT
The Bilibili link is shared as a text message with an embedded URL, which
requires additional steps to open, unlike the YouTube link which opens
directly.

EXPECTED RESULT
All shared links, regardless of the source application (YouTube, Bilibili,
etc.), should open directly in the browser when shared via KDE Connect,
providing a consistent and seamless user experience.

I even got into pling as that seemed to be a way to make a project, but there
are way too many questions I have no response for.
So I'm still lost. Don't mean to be a dummy, I'm pretty good at these things.

2. Hover the the cursor over the symlink

OBSERVED RESULT
The path of the symlink itself is shown.

I can see your point. Yes, the game is not charged in the loss column.
So I guess there is a difference between 'can't be determined' and 'lost'.
One is iffy, the other is definite.

On second thought, I had time to play and I'm going to say now that the

could pick a couple of the first choices with no immediate dead ends, maybe
further down, but not immediately.

So it's closed until or if I get more finite info.

When calibrating a joystick with multiple axes (6 on a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro)
it is really annoying that you have to cancel and restart the entire process if
you make a single mistake on any axis calibration.
It would be much more user-friendly if it was possible to at least go back to
the start of the individual axis calibration rather than the whole lot.
The Cancel button has no action and the only way to end the calibration is to
click on the dialog quit button

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start the Game Controller calibration
2. Get to axis 4
3. Accidentally press a key twice
4. Click Cancel

OBSERVED RESULT
No action on Cancel, No Back/Restart Axis Calibration button

EXPECTED RESULT
Exit the calibration and restart it.
Preferably click on Back/Restart Axis Calibration

[krita] [Bug 467720] New: Some texts doesn't appear when exporting with Comic Manager

2023-03-23 Thread Alan Gómez
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467720

Bug ID: 467720
Summary: Some texts doesn't appear when exporting with Comic
Manager
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.1.5
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tool/Text
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

Created attachment 157534
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=157534=edit
Texts are in in krita file, but when you make a export with the Comic Manager
dock, sometimes text don't appear in the images.

SUMMARY
Some texts in the comic images doesn't appear by making a export from Comic
Manager dock.

***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a comic project from the Comic Manager dock.
2. Write some texts with Text Tool.
3. Select any of the export settings formats such as CBZ, EPUB or TIFF
4. Export the comic project with the Export Comic option from the Comic Manager
dock.

OBSERVED RESULT
Some text wrote don't appear in the images, sometimes yes, but mostly not.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expected to see all pages with text in the images of comic project folder,
but it doesn't work fine.

This can be solved by doing a export manually from the bar of Krita where you
can see File, Edit, View, Image, Layer, Filter, etc..
If i go to File and make an export with the Export option right there, the text
appears in the image, but export like this will take so much time.

I filed a report against the debian package for kdenlive:

The maintainers of the PPA are aware of the missing dependency and say they've
fixed it (in the PPA):

Thanks to your report I updated the ppa

I don't even use korganizer any more... but trying it out today, it looks a
little better than what's in the screenshots I attached back in 2018, but still
a little squooshed if you make the font size a little on the large size.

If no one else has complained, I can't see much reason in digging around to
"fix" this one any more than it's already "fixed".

Thanks for checking back in.

[kdevelop] [Bug 460769] New: Python source file editing problems

2022-10-20 Thread Alan Prescott
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460769

Bug ID: 460769
Summary: Python source file editing problems
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.9.220802
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: alanjpresc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Something of a vague summary, I know but editing Python sources seems to have
gone slightly borked in the latest release. At least 2 things I have come
across:-

Editing class triple-quoted documentation inserts one or more additional
indents after Enter

Auto-indenting when inserting a Python snippet has been turned back on which
makes an awful mess of inserting anything except the most trivial snippet. This
was a feature I requested as a wishlist item and I was really pleased to see it
implemented so having auto-indenting re-appear is rather annoying.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Snippets
1. Insert a multi-line Python snippet with it's own indenting

Triple-quoted class documentation
1. Edit triple quoted class documentation text, press Enter in text

OBSERVED RESULT
Snippets
1. Inserted snippet has additional indenting as if it had been typed by hand

Triple-quoted class documentation
1. Pressing Enter creates a new line indented from the previous line

EXPECTED RESULT
Snippets
Insert the snippet exactly as given or, by preference, all snippet lines
preceded by an indent matching the first line.

Triple-quoted class documentation
On Enter, insert a new line indented the same as the previous line

it adds back the worthless programs Kate and Discover to my Application

[plasma-mobile] [Bug 459116] New: Bemenu does not work with onscreen keyboard

2022-09-14 Thread Miles Alan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459116

Bug ID: 459116
Summary: Bemenu does not work with onscreen keyboard
   Product: plasma-mobile
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Shell
  Assignee: plasma-mobile-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@milesalan.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
On plasma-mobile, after launching bemenu, the onscreen keyboard does not
appear, and if manually launched via button or via dbus it's impossible to type
into the bemenu prompt.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Terminal on plasma mobile
2. Launch bemenu by typing: `seq 1 10 | bemenu -l 10`

OBSERVED RESULT
Onscreen keyboard does not launch, and if manually launched through button or
qdbus (`qdbus org.kde.KWin /VirtualKeyboard org.kde.kwin.VirtualKeyboard.active
true`), the keyboard does not focus bemenu and it's impossible to type into the
bemenu prompt.

EXPECTED RESULT
The onscreen keyboard should focus bemenu and be able to type into bemenu's
prompt. This is the behavior on other mobile environments such as Phosh.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: PmOS edge / Alpine Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Is there someway via dbus or otherwise to make the OSK focus to the bemenu
overlay?
