I can confirm same problem. Three monitors and very frequently one of them is
off. It is definitely Plasm a problem. Checked also in Plasma 5.7. The same
configuration (hardware and software) but cinnamon desktop instead, problem
disappears.

the transition from kde3 to kde4 was also problematic,
since it was a total rework. Surely it is a whole lot of work
it has been done, we should also appreciate that,
i could imagine that important features like
this and the desktop wallpaper issue will be solved some
day. Right now is the pin button solution practicable for
the time till then...tried xfce, plasma is still the best :-)

Plasma is missing a few features kde4 had, maybe they come, but unity is like
for old woman, windows for ignorants, xfce ist nearly good but not very
intuitive, mate is much to simple, still plasma5 is the best desktop around
here.

while I was overstating in my criticism to windows 10, it is surely a very
complex system but it by far does not put the user in the center as kde4,
plasma5 does. The one dimensional structure of unity does leave no power to the
user wishes, you can take it or live it, like choosing between grey and grey.
Very simple. The effort creating such a sophisticated system as kde4 and
plasma5 is far more higher and demands far more work. I remember as kde4 took
its baby steps, many people laughed about and criticised and left. KDE4 turned
out to be the best along with time, as I held on to it because it still left
me so much freedom... you are working on the best, most userfriendly desktop I
know so far, and the results are promissing even now the old and matured and
good xfce has not so much simplicity and beauty as plasma5 does, so keep on,
dont let discourage yourself building it.

[plasmashell] [Bug 363092] New: desktop misalignment after enabling slideshow, freshly installed

2016-05-14 Thread Andy via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363092

Bug ID: 363092
Summary: desktop misalignment after enabling slideshow, freshly
installed
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.5.5
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: cress...@nycap.rr.com

I experienced a desktop misalignment issue when I installed Kubuntu 15.04.
Since then I’ve installed 15.10, 16.04, and KDE’s development 16.10
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/ , all with the same
problem.

Sometime during configuration and after a restart, the display comes up offset
to the right and lower than it should be.
It seems to be caused by enabling the slide show feature. Maybe.
The desktop wallpaper, icons and widgets are offset. An icon can be dragged out
of the desktop, but will spring back when released. Right clicking outside the
offset desktop doesn’t produce a menu.
Panels and program windows are unaffected, you can place them anywhere.

It’s as if the folder view lost it’s 0,0 reference.

Once offset, disabling the slide show feature or returning to the desktop view
does not correct it.
However, lowering the resolution in Settings (to anything) and raising it again
(1920x1080) will fix it, until the next restart where it comes up offset
again. I’ve found no other problems with any of the installs, everything else
seems nominal.

All the installs were new (no upgrades). In the latest installation (16.10), I
enabled the slide show feature without any other customizations, with the same
results.

I was leaning towards getting a new video card, but now I’m not so sure.
Installing 15.10 in a virtual environment (VirtualBox) had the same result ,
and I can’t see why the video card would be affected only by the slide show
feature.

Both Ubuntu and Lubuntu 16.04 display OK, but don’t have a slide show feature
to test fairly. Is this feature Kubuntu or KDE?

My regular system is Kubuntu 14.04 and displays fine, as does a virtualized
Win 7.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Kubuntu 15.04 or newer.
2. Select Folder view.
3. Enable slideshow.
4. Select the Pictures folder.
5. Slideshow starts, Folderview is OK.
6. Restart. Desktop is offset.

My PC is a homebuilt using a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H version 1 motherboard,
recently upgraded with the latest BIOS (f9) for that version. The processor is
an AMD Phenom II 955 quad.
I have 8GB of ram, and the system is installed on a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.
The on board graphics is AMD/ATI Radeon 4290. Kinfo gives the driver as X.Org
Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880 (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0).
The currently installed Kubuntu is 16.10, KDE Plasma version 5.5.5, QT version
5.5.1, Kernel version 4.4.0-22, 64 bit.
The Driver Manager utility installed an AMD microcode driver, which, so far as
I know, is the only proprietary driver.

A startup script jostling the video resolution might work; I’m not a coder. I’d
buy a video card if I had some confidence that it would correct this issue. Is
there a list of compatible video cards available?

Thanks
Andy

I also confirm this bug.

I use recent *krita-3.0-RC-1-master-6f75b0f-x86_64.appimage*. Just downloaded
it, launched, created new custom document, selected Tangent Normal brush from
brush menu and tried to draw.

'Segmentation fault' appears every time I try to draw with this brush whether
on canvas or preview area.

I tried to remove all personal Krita data by

rm -r ~/.local/share/{k,K}rita ~/.config/krita*

and draw again, but it crashes all the same when I just click on a canvas with
this brush.

Select multiple mails, right click on the selection and "Move to Trash" will
just move one single mail and the other mails remain in the folder. This only
happens if the folders are on an IMPA server. This worked perfectly in the
previous version and was introduced in 5.2.0.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select multiple mails in one folder (see screenshot 1)
2. right-click on the selection and choose "Move to Trash"
3. only one mail is removed from the display the other mails remain (see
scrennshot 2)
4. the same can be reproduce with dragging and dropping the selection into
anotherfolder
