[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 487437] New: Major Metro Area Now Has No Available Stations

2024-05-23 Thread David Hart
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487437

Bug ID: 487437
Summary: Major Metro Area Now Has No Available Stations
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 6.0.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Weather
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dc.h...@slowlyboiledfrog.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Presumably, the "weather applet" is the weather report widget. Is it? I have
been doing this for a long time and I have never seen a "weather applet."

I live in Jacksonville, FL, the state's largest city. Up to now, I have
configured the weather widget to use Jacksonville International Airport (NOAA).
It worked just fine up until today. IT HAS BEEN REMOVED from the application. I
now have two choices:

1. wetter.com which does not display the temperature and is thus useless.

2. BBC which is profoundly inaccurate and is without many details and forecast
information. Utterly useless.

I need JAX-NOAA back! I find it hard to believe that in 2024 I cannot get an
accurate understanding of weather on my screen.

I do not have gnome installed but, apparently, its weather widget works.

BTW, this bug reporting system is going to drive a newbie crazy. Some genius
removed version information from "about KDE" in applications. "About system" is
MEANINGLESS without adding "from Info Center."

Moreover, exactly who decided that you can no longer add widgets with a right
click on the desktop? Now you have to do so through "enter edit mode" which, by
the way, interferes with some widgets if left open. Some people have too much
time on their hands and they are "fixing" things that aren't broken.

I am assuming that I have made the right choices to report a bug with the
weather widget. Location=Jacksonville, FL.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select NOAA source via Jacksonville International Airport station
2. In a day or two it will stop working (unable to fetch data)
3. Temporary fix is to select a different source (Wetter or BBC).
4. Reapply the Airport station

OBSERVED RESULT
In a day or two it will no longer work. It stops fetching data.

EXPECTED RESULT

While I am at it, BBC is very inaccurate and does not report current

There is only one bit of software on my laptop that is out of distribution - a
proprietary Wi-Fi device driver. Everything else is via Fedora. I suppose that
I should file a report downstream.

[kwin] [Bug 471089] New: Undocumented gestures/mouse swipe

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major

 Component: Gestures
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: dc.h...@slowlyboiledfrog.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Some mouse movement causes all of my windows to tile losing focus on the active
window. This creates innumerable problems because, whatever the gesture is (and
I am not sure) it is AMBIGUOUS and interferes with productivity. There doesn't
seem to be a system setting to control the effect. This is a serious problem.
It compromises productivity!

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Unknown. The issue does not seem to be documented. It MIGHT be a wipe, right to
left but it seems dependent upon other things.

OBSERVED RESULT

[plasmashell] [Bug 464715] Non-Icons-Only Task Manager: Option to keep pinned launchers visible after the start of the application

2023-03-13 Thread David Hart
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464715

I don't know why anyone would want the current behavior. It seems pointless.
>From time-to-time most people want multiple instances of an application. Can
anyone tell me the benefit of removing the launchers from the panel when their
application is launched?

Hot keys are a workaround, but sometimes a click is more convenient, I would
argue that the DEFAULT behavior would be to keep the launchers in place.

2021-10-28 Thread David Hart
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437618

It is more complicated. I use hot keys extensively because I am an active
writer and prefer raw html. To fill in the missing characters I have doubled up
in some combinations. is programmed (in part) as
c:l:a:s:s:s (extra "s"). Most of the time this works. Every now and then I end
up with "classs." It is unpredictable.

This is not mission critical; just weird.

This problem was introduced with Fedora 34.
plasma-systemsettings-5.21.5-1.fc34.x86_64

A hotkey used to produce . It now produces <>

The action is defined as:
shift+,:i:shift+.:shift+,:/:i:shift+.:left:left:left:left

In fact every hotkey produces the same result; A character is gone.

I have tried deleting and rewriting the hotkey to a new trigger. Same result.

For example - obviously the second "s" in "class" has
disappeared.

 - Yet in this example, the "2" is missing from "h2"
shift+,:h:2:space:c:l:a:s:s:=:shift+':i:n:s:e:t:2:shift+':shift+.:shift+,:/:h:2:shift+.:left:left:left:left:left

I get the same result in Chrome, Firefox and kate.

Shortcut commands all work as expected. It is only keyboard input (actually
output) that has been affected.

I left the severity as normal but I write a popular blog and I do it all in raw
HTML.
