This does not happen in Inkscape for instance. The standard is one in which Hhea and Typo tables sum to the EM size of the font (usually 1000 or 2048 units) and the Win values indicate how far not to clip. Calligrawords must be using either the typo or the hhea values for both linespacing and clipping.
