[kscreenlocker] [Bug 485084] Screen Locker broken on resume from sleep

2024-06-25 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485084

This bug also happens on OpenBSD Plasma 6, where loginctl is not available so
it can't be fixed with the CTRL+ALT+F2 trick.

Since this bug report is not so active, I can suppose it's something related to
some hardware or specific configuration because I get this bug on every distro
I tried (KaOS/6, Kubuntu/5.27, OpenBSD/6) but most of the users don't.

[systemsettings] [Bug 340982] No way to change just the date format but not its actual translated text

I use American English as the system language, but I've set (via the KDE GUI,
not from command line) the date format to be English Irish. This shows the
dates in DD/MM/YY format and sets the environment variable LC_TIME=en_IE.UTF-8
. The Plasma digital clock shows the date of today as 22/06/2024. I hope this
helps you.

Related to this bug, I suggest also the change the error message which asks to
press CTRL+ALT+F2 because it doesn't work at least on Wayland. I must use
CTRL+ALT+F3, not F2

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487599

Bug ID: 487599
Summary: Multiple screenshots slow down the system and almost
freeze
Classification: Applications
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: 24.05.0
  Platform: KaOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

effect of multiple screenshot

SUMMARY
Hello,
taking multiple screenshots with the keyboard shortcut slows down Plasma which
almost freezes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot (e.g CTRL+SHIFT+S)
2. Press the keyboard shortcut and draw a rectangle
3. Press again the keyboard shortcut and draw another rectangle
4. Repeat this again 4-5 times

OBSERVED RESULT
Plasma slows down and then almost freezes. I've 8GB of RAM, with higher RAM it
may take more screenshot to freeze.
See attached image

EXPECTED RESULT
When pressing the keyboard shortcut while a screenshot is running, this
screenshot should be aborted and a new one created. At the moment it seems that
you can stack infinite Spectacle screenshots making Plasma to freeze.

Hello,

I'm not sure that something really crashes, it's probably a misbehavior, not a
crash.

This issue seems very similar to the bug you linked, but plasmashell doesn't
crash (or at least Dr Konqi doesn't report it) and it's still usable.

> Not able to reproduce this

Hello,
trying to reproduce this bug I've created
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479066 which is similar. I can reproduce
100% of the times on KaOS and Neon Unstable.
Since I'm sure they are the same bug (plasma doesn't crash for me), I created
another bug report. Feel free to mark it as duplicate if needed

[plasmashell] [Bug 479066] New: Automatic exit from "Edit Mode" if changing panel height after adding a Widget

2023-12-26 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479066

Bug ID: 479066
Summary: Automatic exit from "Edit Mode" if changing panel
height after adding a Widget
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.91.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: enric...@hotmail.com
CC: niccolo.venera...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
the panel's EDIT MODE seems to crash when changing height after adding a
widget. I've tested it on both KaOS and Neon Unstable.
I found this bug trying to reproduce
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477933
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click on the panel -> Add Widget
2. Add a Widget to the panel, for example the Bluetooth
3. Keep the left widget bar opened
4. Right click on the panel > Enter Edit mode
5. Press the "+" button to increase panel height

OBSERVED RESULT
The dialog to increase/decrease panel height seems to crash as it's closed
immediately. Moreover, if you hover the mouse on the system tray icons you can
see that you're not in Edit mode.
If you right click again in the panel, you see "Exit edit mode". If you click
on Exit edit mode you actually ENTER edit mode again (hovering the system tray
icons you see "remove" and others edit commands)

EXPECTED RESULT
Changing height should not cause this problem

Thank you very much for checking. I've tested it on a Neon Unstable Live disc
and it seems to work.
I can't see users, probably because of the Live system, but I can create them.
New users appear in the list, so it seems to be some kind of KaOS packaging
issues. I'll report it to KaOS support channels.

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
in the last systemmonitor I can't sort the columns up or down. I can sort a
column, but then I can't order any other column. The sorting seems possible

the view

***
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open systemmonitor
2. Try to sort a column
3. Try to sort another column

OBSERVED RESULT
Systemmonitor can sometimes sort the first colum clicked, but it doesn't sort
the others

EXPECTED RESULT
Sort up/down should always work

right-click submenu

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
on the desktop (in Folder View) I found a little issue that I can reproduce
both on KaOS 6 and on Neon Unstable. If a sub-menu is opened, the other
commands are not clickable until the animation ends.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click on a desktop item (folder or file)
2. Open a submenu (as in the attached image)
3. If you quickly try to click "Delete" ("Elimina" in the attached image)
nothing happens

OBSERVED RESULT
The "Delete" (or any other) command is not clickable until the fade-animation
of the submenu ends. If you move the mouse slowly and click "Delete" when the
sub-menu is closed, it works fine. If you move the mouse quickly and click
"Delete" before the submenu animation finishes (about 0,5-1 second I think) you
cannot click it.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Delete (or any other) command should always be clickable

Visual glitches resizing window

In this recording you can see that these visual glitches appear/disappear based
on the window size. If the details view fits the window, the glitches
disappear. When the details view is longer than the Dolphin window and the
scroll bar appears, the glitches are visible

Visual glitches

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
I see glitches when switching from the Compact and Details view mode. See the
screencast attached.

It seems like the Dolphin page is not refreshed when switching, but only when
the mouse hovers the window. As you can see in the recording, the glitches
disappear when I move the mouse inside the "Folder" part of the window.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open dolphin

2. *IMPORTANT* I noticed that this behavior appears only when the folder
contains a number of file which makes the scroll bar appear (Details View
Mode). You can reproduce it only on the folders that show the right-side scroll
bar. It doesn't work in folders with only few files. Otherwise, you can use a
folder with only few files, but you have to reduce the Dolphin window to make
the scroll bar appear.

3. Change to Details view mode
4. Change to Compact view mode
5. Do it again

OBSERVED RESULT
Glitches

EXPECTED RESULT
No glitches

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
i noticed that reducing the settings window width to the minimum size allowed
the Network settings page is not shown completely.
As you can see in the screenshot attached, the IPV4 tab is cut and the IPV6 tab
is not visible at all.

Considering that there isn't an horizontal scrolling bar, I think that all the
tabs should always be visible.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the settings
2. Reduce the windows to the minimum width possible
3. Open Wifi & Networking settings

OBSERVED RESULT
The viewed options are cut as in the screenshot

EXPECTED RESULT
All the tabs should always be visible.

I confirm that enabling the "run all Konsole windows in a single process"
solves the problem.

On the other hand, that option doesn't seems to work fine: if it's enabled and
you select "Open a new window" in the right-click menu, it really opens a new
window while I'm expecting Konsole to be forced to open a new tab.

[okular] [Bug 476183] New: Text input option to fill the area selected by the user

2023-10-28 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476183

Bug ID: 476183
Summary: Text input option to fill the area selected by the
user
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.08.1
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

  Reporter: enric...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 162609

exemple of the text area

SUMMARY
***
Hello, I usually compile some PDFs that have a text area made of little squares
(see the attachment) that should be filled with a single character. In okular
it's pretty difficult to fill this kind of PDFs with the text tool, because you
should fill a single character per time. These fields are made by a standard
number of characters that it's always the same (like a bank account number)

Can you please consider if it's possible add an option which makes the text to
automatically fit the area selected by the user?
The user may select the whole area between the first and the last square then
write the text. Okular should fill that selected area using a character spacing
that fills the length and a character height that fills the height of the area

SUMMARY
***
Hello, I can't start KDE Neon because plasmashell seems to crash after the
login. It worked until I've done the last updates with pkcon update few hours
ago.

I saved the journalctl log and found some "defined Version=5 but Version=6 was
expected" errors but I don't know how to read the it correctly so I attach it.

Other errrors which may be useful:
kded6[1564]: QDBusAbstractAdaptor: Cannot relay signal

and many others. I can only CTRL+ALT+F3 to a new shell. Let me know how can I
provide more useful information if needed

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot the system
2. login on SSDM, which works fine

OBSERVED RESULT
Just after the login plasmashell seems to crash and I only see the cursor on a

2023-10-12 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475477

I run into this "issue" because the lockscreen always broke in a previous
version of Neon Unstable, asking for loginctl unlock-session, so I tried to
change the energy settings values and run into that little bug.

I think the user should (1) be able to enter a 3-digits number, or (2) should
not be able to go over 2-digits number (99) with the arrows buttons
Anyway it's not a big issue and probably affects only few users, so I totally
understand if you prefer to focus on something else.
It's a consistency issue more than a bug

I have tons of missing dependencies (see the attachment) I've installed Neon

I can't see the titlebar icons on Wayland. Single 1080p monitor, no theme

I've also tried changing Global Theme, Application Syle, Plasma Style, Window

2023-09-21 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474473

Hello, I've installed Neon (20230920) and... now it works. Both on X11 and
Wayland, the windows open up correctly

Patrick, can you please check if you still see this bug on X11 or it's solved
for you too?

[gwenview] [Bug 473029] New: Crash when opening an image on a Cryptomator folder

2023-08-05 Thread Enrico
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473029

Bug ID: 473029
Summary: Crash when opening an image on a Cryptomator folder
Classification: Applications
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 23.04.3
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: enric...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello,
I use Cryptomator but I can't open images in the Cryptomator folder. When i
double-click on an image Gwenview seems to crash

If i run from the terminal "gwenview /path/ho/image.jpg" it opens so it seems a
kind of bug related to dolphin+gwenview. This crash happens only with gwenview
(the other file type works fine (pdf, text)) and I can open the same images
with Okular/Firefox without any issue.

Please let me know if I can use the terminal to reproduce how dolphin "talks"
to gwenview and give you some useful informations. I tried running gwenview on
the terminal, but it works so it seems strictly related on how dolphin "asks"
to open the image to gwenview

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Cryptomator folder
2. Double click on an image while Gwenview is the default image program

OBSERVED RESULT
The gwenview icon appears near the mouse cursor, then it closes.

EXPECTED RESULT
The image should be opened on gwenview

Hello,
my monitor has an "auto" mode that automatically switch the input soruce (HDMI
or DisplayPort). It works fine on X11 and on Windows, but not on Wayland. When
I'm on Wayland the monitor never goes in standby, it's always-on. This happens
in Plasma as in GNOME so I I reported it on Wayland's gitlab.

They replied that is something related to the DE and not to Wayland. See:

Hello,
I usually switch to next/previous image of my pictures using the arrow keys on
the keyboard. If there is a video between the images, Gwenview stucks on it. I
can't move to another image using the arrow keys.

To reproduce:
1) move to the next picture using the right arrow key
2) If you end up on a video, when you press the arrow keys nothing happens.

It should jump to the next image/video if I doesn't play the video.

[plasmashell] [Bug 469139] Kickoff doesn't start Snap packages at the first time [Kubuntu 23.04]

Hello, it seems to work fine.

The Exec line is pretty complicated. Eg:
Exec=env
BAMF_DESKTOP_FILE_HINT=/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/gimp_gimp.desktop
/snap/bin/gimp %U

Is it ok If I've run the following command?
kstart5 env
BAMF_DESKTOP_FILE_HINT=/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/gimp_gimp.desktop
/snap/bin/gimp %U

Thanks

the journalctl returns nothing when the snap "crashes"

I can see some of this warnings, but they are shown when I press the meta-key
and not when I type the name, press ENTER and see the snap to close.

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
***
Hello,
very often kickoff can't start snap packages when I launch it from the menu.
The first time I launch the app it fails, then it works fine

I report this bug against kickoff because I've tested launching the same Snaps
from 1) the icon pinned to the panel 2) konsole (eg.
/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/telegram-desktop_telegram-desktop.desktop
that should be the same file kickoff execute) and it works.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot the system
2. Open kickoff (Meta Key)
3. Search for a snap with the keyboard (tested with Audacity, Thunderbird,
Telegram Desktop)
4. Press Enter to start the app

OBSERVED RESULT
The app fails to start. It TRIES to start but then it closes.
I say "it tries to start" because if I launch Thunderbird I can see the rolling
circle on the panel-pinned icon, but then it closes.

After failing the first launch, I can launch it again and again with no
problems.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should start also the first time.

Let me know if I can provide some additional log. I tried to start the .desktop
from konsole to get some logs (as it seems the file executed by KickOff) but it
always starts with no problems. Kikoff fails the first time.

TBH I didn't even noticed these 2 options that are pretty similar but have

[konversation] [Bug 466040] Konversation dumps core on exit

2023-04-08 Thread Enrico

Hello, I can't test in on Sid because the whole Debian is in a kind of "freeze"
for the upcoming release of "Bookworm". It will probably take 1-2 month and I
have been told that I won't receive this kind of updates until the final
release.

Anyway, I tested it on Ubuntu 23.04 beta with Frameworks 104 and Plasma 5.27.4
and konversation exits normally.
