[plasmashell] [Bug 448393] "Add Widgets" context menu item causes Panel in "Auto-Hide" mode to hide again, making it impossible to add widgets to panel without entering Edit mode another way
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448393 --- Comment #3 from Eric Edlund --- After pressing the panel Add Widget button, the panel is hidden and the widgets panel opens. I can select widgets to add, and they are added to the panel. The UI doesn't make it clear that the selected widgets are being added, and its not visible that they have changed until I leave edit mode. The behavior I would expect is that the panel is forced not to hide. Wayland 5.27.7 Manjaro. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 461118] Proposal for improved keyboard navigation of KDE activities
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461118 --- Comment #1 from Eric Edlund --- This is interesting material. I threw this into the Activities group chat and we learned a few things which I will note here. Switching windows between activities is something we want design away from. The point of activities is to separate activities. The need to move windows between them will, of course, always be a need that we can't completely design away. Keyboard shortcuts may be a good idea. We still have a lot to figure out about windows being on multiple activities in multiple desktops if activities end up having unique sets of VDs. It won't be an issue of just which activity but which desktop windows are shown on. Keeping the distinction between activities and desktops clear will be tricky. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 451590] Stutter when opening WindowHeap-based effects
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451590 --- Comment #18 from Eric Edlund --- This bug is about the stutter when opening heap based effects like Desktop grid and Overview effect. In that video you're seeing three different issues. The window heap stutter, the relocating of windows on drag 'n' drop in desktop grid, and the inconcise arranging of windows done by window heap. I agree, that is dizzying and quite annoying. For those two other issues though, you should file two other bug reports. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The effect > and thus the entire Plasma desktop is unusable due to this. The utter broken > state of the effect prevents me from updating my system on Arch since > several weeks, since partial upgrades are unsupported. Does the stuttering for you appear as it does in my video? https://drive.google.com/file/d/175dS_nY4kH8-wfBfYTTHgFDsPLH2ZU57/view?usp=sharing I ask because "unusable" has not been my experience with this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 451590] Stutter when opening WindowHeap-based effects
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451590 --- Comment #15 from Eric Edlund --- (In reply to David Edmundson from comment #13) > Our QtQuick windows aren't schedules to anything in particular, we just > update them off a timer and hope it's all in sync. > We could sync it to the relevant RenderLoop relatively easily and it might > have a noticeable effect and fix some other issues (hopefully). > > Should be relatively easy to try and confirm if it makes a difference. In my efforts make gestures/fullscreen effects work contextually, I've created a system to facilitate animations between them. It essentially sends out new frame updates based on an animation progress. This is in !2184 which is currently functional, just needs to be slit up and merged. In the MR, the stuttering is still there, but maybe relevant. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 454231] 3-fingers touchpad gesture (to navigate between virtual desktops) doesn't follow touchpad scrolling direction preference
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454231 --- Comment #4 from Eric Edlund --- I agree that swipe direction when changing desktop should be configurable. Gesture configurability is on the way and doing this will be very simple and idiomatic when it does. Until then, making it align with scroll direction could be a good stepping stone, but I'm going to stay focused on gesture configurability. I would expect this feature in 5.26 or 5.27. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 448499] New: Feature request - Snapping windows to screen edge presents windows to fill other half
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448499 Bug ID: 448499 Summary: Feature request - Snapping windows to screen edge presents windows to fill other half Product: kwin Version: 5.23.5 Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: ericedlund2...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY On Windows when you tile a window to the screen edge it presents window options to fill the other side. Then, you can move the border between the split windows to resize both at the same time. Just a convenient feature that I'm sure someone's already thought of, but I figure if I make a report it may inspire someone. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
