[konsole] [Bug 476706] New: There is no indication if a process is terminated when using --hold

2023-11-08 Thread Jens Reimann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476706

Bug ID: 476706
   Summary: There is no indication if a process is terminated when
using --hold
Classification: Applications
   Product: konsole
   Version: 23.08.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ct...@dentrassi.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When using `--hold` (or `--no-close`) a tab of a process will remain open
(which is expected). But there is no indication if the process is still running
or not.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. run `konsole --hold -e true`
2. try to figure out of `true` is still running or not

OBSERVED RESULT

No indication seen.

EXPECTED RESULT

I would expect that there is a message like with other terminals:

```
The process is terminated … do X in order to close this tab.
```

And/or some visual indication on the tab's label.

--- Comment #4 from Jens Reimann  ---
I just ran into the same problem. Taking a look at the logs I see:

```
Started render process: /app/bin/melt -progress /var/tmp/kdenlive-TZQHdn.mlt
out=20326
[libvpx @ 0x7fa03c003940] Application has requested 24 threads. Using a thread
count greater than 16 is not recommended.
[libvpx @ 0x7fa03c003940] Bitrate not specified for constrained quality mode,
using default of 256kbit/secJob aborted by user
```

So it looks like some argument is missing and it defaults to some bad quality
defaults.

SUMMARY

Both kate and kwrite have a focus border around the main source text control.
For me this looks really distracting and I would like to have the ability to

I know this might look different in different themes. And some people might
like it. That is why I am proposing to make it configurable.

[kwin] [Bug 418548] New: Windows move to different displays when opening the laptop lid

2020-03-06 Thread Jens Reimann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418548

Bug ID: 418548
   Summary: Windows move to different displays when opening the
laptop lid
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multihead
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ct...@dentrassi.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Having a multi screen setup, with two screens on a docking station, attached to
a laptop. I have the laptop lid closed most of the time. However, every now and
then, I need to open the lid (e.g. for a video conferencing session).

What happens is that the windows move to different screens. It looks like that
the new screen is inserted before all other screens, all windows move one
screen left. Closing the lid reverts to the original order.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two active screens and some windows open.
2. Open laptop lid, new screen gets added
3. Bang

OBSERVED RESULT

It looks like windows consistently one screen to the left.

EXPECTED RESULT

I would expect the application windows to stay on their current screen. No
matter if a new screen gets added/removed. This is the behavior on GNOME and
Cinnamon.
