[digikam] [Bug 438317] Annoying download binary message at startup

I have to agree with the other comments. I just googled 'disable digikam binary
download' and ended up here. Couldn't we have a checkbox by the Cancel button
that says like 'dont ask me again' ?

An opensource photo manager downloading stuff without asking, from who knows
what site, just feels wrong. Doing it through the disto package manager would
be so much better. I've used digiKam for many years and I have never used the
face detection or redeye stuff. No offense, thanks for all your hard work on
this software.

Same problem. I see 'akonadi_mbox_resource_1' in the root of my folder/account
list. It doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure what it is for or why it is
visible. There is also a proper entry for the mbox I added with the name that I
gave it. That does work as it should.

[ksmserver] [Bug 344967] 99 minute maximum for lock screen

2019-01-31 Thread John Andrew McInnes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344967

--- Comment #18 from John Andrew McInnes ---
its 2019... i'll try again:

Screen locking is all about forgetting or being away from the computer. right?
It not like you are sitting at your machine "i can't go to lunch yet, I need my
screen lock to kick in, then we can go".

So it is a balance between: locking the screen right away for safety -- and not
wanting to relog and reenter your password 15+ times a day. Also as others have
pointed out, you might want to be watching some application doing something for
a long time, much longer than 99 minutes.

For me the balance is 8 hours. Entering my pasword every 99min is an
unnecessary security risk.

Again I ask, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? it used to be this way. Where is this big
problem that was solved by limiting it to 99min?

[dolphin] [Bug 400275] New: dolphin shows "Type" of .iso files as "plain text document"

2018-10-24 Thread John Andrew McInnes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400275

Bug ID: 400275
Summary: dolphin shows "Type" of .iso files as "plain text
document"
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 17.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: details mode
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: s...@forceway.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
View a folder in dolphin that contains *.iso files. The file type of some are
show as "plain text document". Some are shown correctly as "raw CD image". By
using the "file" command in a terminal I see the difference. "file" says that
some iso files are:
ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'sysrcd-5.3.1' (bootable)

while others are like this:
DOS/MBR boot sector; partition 2 : ID=0xef, start-CHS (0x3ff,254,63), end-CHS
(0x3ff,254,63), startsector 4832, 18004 sectors

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. dolphin
2. folder with iso files in it
3. view details and "Type" column

OBSERVED RESULT
some iso files are identified as text and show a text file icon

EXPECTED RESULT
iso files should all be identified as iso and show the iso icon

I have encountered this bug in Konsole version 17.04.1. Konsole is
started/restored on login as per my previous session. Transparency is not
working and I get the message on the appearance tab. If I exit and restart
Konsole it works again. Maybe Konsole is starting too soon? Kind of annoying,
but not a major bug.
