Possibly I was mislead by a different "issue": in the Display Configuration
plasmoid, the behavior of "Extend to left" and "Extend to right" buttons is
inverted with respect to Plasma 5. Thus, every time I select "Extend to right",
my laptop monitor is placed to the left of my external monitor.

Bug ID: 488004
Summary: Plasma 6 doesn't remember multiple monitor layout on
X11
Classification: Plasma

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux

On X11, in a multimonitor setting, Plasma doesn't remember the relative
position of monitors. Every time I disconnect and connect again an external
monitor, I have to open Display Configuration and rearrange my monitors to
reflect their physical position on my desktop.

[plasmashell] [Bug 428873] New: Move applications from task manager to system tray

2020-11-09 Thread Luca Allulli
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428873

Bug ID: 428873
Summary: Move applications from task manager to system tray
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: l.allu...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

This is a feature request. I would like to be able to show selected
applications in the system tray, instead than as a task manager button, when
minimized.

This behavior is very handy for daemon-like applications, where you use the GUI
only upon notifications, such as Thunderbird, a running music player etc.

Currently this behavior can be achieved through third-party programs such as
KDocker. However:

- KDocker and similar programs do not work on Wayland, and AFAIK cannot, due to
protocol restrictions
- Plasmashell would be much easier and more flexible than KDocker for the user.
User shall be able to:
  - right-click on the taskbar button, and "send application to System Tray"
  - define a rule for the application, so that it is automatically started in
the system tray, etc.
