[dolphin] [Bug 477790] New: Dolphin is always opened on Desktop 1 when it is run using a shortcut

2023-11-30 Thread Marcelo Sales
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477790

Bug ID: 477790
Summary: Dolphin is always opened on Desktop 1 when it is run
using a shortcut
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 22.04.3
  Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mmtsa...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When I use a shortcut to run Dolphin, it's always opened on Desktop 1, even if
I'm using another virtual desktop when the shortcut was used. Then I have to
move it manually to the virtual desktop where I want it. This do not happen
with other applications, either KDE apps or not.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Assign a shortcut to Dolphin
2. Configure more than one virtual desktop on your workspace
3. Go to any virtual desktop other than Desktop 1
4. Use the shortcut to run Dolphin

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin's window is opened on the first virtual desktop

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin's window should be opened on the virtual desktop which was active when
the shortcut was used

[dolphin] [Bug 453133] HOME and END keys show non-standard behavior in Dolphin when renaming files

2022-05-04 Thread Marcelo Sales
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453133

I think that the previous, standard behavior was much better. It was easy
enough to get to the beginning or to the end of the filename with only a few
key strokes (just a few UP or DOWN arrows and then HOME or END). Now, however,
although it's a bit easier to go to the beginning or to the end of the
filename, it's difficult to get to the beginning or to the end of a line. Very
often, when I'm naming hundreds of photos downloaded from a digital camera, I
copy and paste filenames a lot and make small changes to them. I use the Icon
View with Previews on, so I can see miniatures of the photos while I'm naming
them, therefore the filenames often spread over 4 to 6 lines. Going quickly to
the beginning or to the end of lines is a must, it speeds up navigation a lot.
The way it is now, it's painful to complete such tasks.
Not to mention that the current behavior is not what the average user expects.

[dolphin] [Bug 453133] New: HOME and END keys show non-standard behavior in Dolphin when renaming files

2022-04-28 Thread Marcelo Sales
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453133

Bug ID: 453133
Summary: HOME and END keys show non-standard behavior in
Dolphin when renaming files
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mmtsa...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When renaming a file with a long name (more than one line) in Dolphin, the HOME
and END keys show a non-standard behavior. Previously, the HOME key would send
the cursor to the beginning of the current line and END key would send the
cursor to the end of the current line, which is the expected behavior. Now, the
HOME key sends the cursor to the beginning of the file name and the END key
sends the cursor to the end of the file name, even across multiple lines, which
is non-standard, different from these keys' behavior in any other GUI
application. In any GUI application, the HOME key sends the cursor to the
beginning of the current line and the END key sends the cursor to the end of
the current line, not to the beginning or the end of the current paragraph.
That's what the average user expects.
Because of this non-standard behavior in Dolphin, if the user wants to go to
the beginning or to the end of the current line, he must press a side arrow key
a lot of times to get there. With the standard behavior, he could just press a
single key to go to the beginning or to the end of the current line, or press
the UP/DOWN arrow keys just a few times and then HOME or END to go to the
beginning or to the end of the file name.
The current Dolphin's behavior makes it more difficult and time-consuming to
navigate through a long file name.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a file with a long name (multiple lines)
2. Press F2 to rename it
3. Press the LEFT arrow to send the cursor to the beginning of the file name
4. Press the END key

OBSERVED RESULT
The cursor is sent to the end of the file name, several lines below where it
was

EXPECTED RESULT
The cursor should have been sent to the end of the first line of the file's
name

2020-02-21 Thread Marcelo Sales
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407672

I've got the same problem here. It does not seem to be a driver or permissions
issue, because I can set printer options using the CUPS administration site
(http://localhost:631). Once I modify the options I want directly in CUPS, they
are updated in KDE System Settings. But I can't modify them using System
Settings (well, I can, but they are not saved).
My printer is a Brother DCP-L2540DW.

[dolphin] [Bug 165172] Folders panel should be able to show the tree beginning at any given folder

Thank you, David!
This option does not exist in 16.04.3, which is the version I'm currently
running, but I'll upgrade and explore :-D
I also still think that the "Start tree from this folder" option in the context
menu would be more than welcome and, as you said, it seems that all necessary
work has already been done to implement the "Limit to home folder" option.

In my opinion, this bug is still relevant. Metadata of source and destination
files should always be shown when overwriting a file, the user rely on this
information to decide what to do. I think this should still be fixed. If you
don't, then close the bug as WONTFIX, not as INVALID.

[calligracommon] [Bug 260482] when using a stylus, 2nd and 3rd buttons act as 1st button

2016-05-01 Thread Marcelo Sales via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260482

I'm experiencing this problem right now using Kubuntu packages. I'm running
Kubuntu 14.04.04, with the KDE Backports PPA. KDE version is 4.14.13. My tablet
is a Intuos Pro Small (PTH-451).
The strange thing is that I run the same KDE version on another computer, a
notebook, and everything works fine there, with the very same tablet. Also, I
was running Kubuntu 14.10 on the problematic computer before downgrading to
14.04.04 (fresh install), and the stylus buttons were working fine then too.
If I uninstall the xserver-xorg-input-wacom package, the tablet is not detect
as a tablet (as expected), but I still can use it as a mouse and the stylus
buttons work fine (as middle and right buttons). However, with this package
installed, the tablet is detected correctly and all of its functions are
available, including the Input Devices settings in KDE System Settings, except
for the stylus buttons, which always work as left clicks, no matter what I set
them up to do in System Settings.
It looks like a configuration problem, rather than a bug, but I have no idea
how to fix this...
