[KSystemLog] [Bug 474830] New: Make default sort direction configurable

2023-09-24 Thread Markus Elfring
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474830

Bug ID: 474830
Summary: Make default sort direction configurable
Classification: Applications
   Product: KSystemLog
   Version: 23.08.1
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: nicolas.ternis...@gmail.com
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I would often prefer to sort log messages by time descending (in the provided
list widget).
Would you like to support a corresponding property in the common application
configuration (so that program users can choose the preferred sort direction as
a default setting)?

[systemsettings] [Bug 460885] New: Fix display for changing the setting “Current local time zone”

2022-10-23 Thread Markus Elfring
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460885

Bug ID: 460885
Summary: Fix display for changing the setting “Current local
time zone”
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.26.1
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_clock
  Assignee: p...@taniwha.com
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I tried time property adjustments out with the image
“openSUSE-Tumbleweed-KDE-Live-x86_64-Snapshot20221021-Media.iso”.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I started the application “System Settings 5.26.1” where I activated the tab
“Time Zone” of the configuration area “Date & Time”.
2. I searched and selected an other geographical area.
3. I clicked on the button “Apply”.

OBSERVED RESULT
I saw that the initially configured value was kept as the display was not
updated besides the label “Current local time zone:”.

EXPECTED RESULT
I would appreciate that the button “Apply” does not need to be pressed twice
for the activation of a different setting here.

2022-08-07 Thread Markus Elfring

Bug ID: 457577
Summary: Better support for time series diagram with trilean
values
   Product: LabPlot2

  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: alexander.se...@web.de
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Trilean values can be displayed by the chart software already in principle.
But I imagine that ternary data can be configured and presented in more
convenient ways for clearer diagrams of multiple time series.

* Variations exist for the representation of this data type.
  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-valued_logic#Representation_of_values

It would be nice to support it without adding transformations in extra
columns (or rows).
Can any known conversions become built-in for such input data?

* Intermediate increments should not be displayed as in comparison to regular
line chart types.
Specific lines or filled rectangles should be shown in lanes.

SUMMARY
I would occasionally like to connect to selected storage locations which are
provided by an SMB service.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Specify the desired target
smb://my_host/share_name/

OBSERVED RESULT
It gets reported that a directory would not exist.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should get asked for my credentials.
This worked for a while before.
Thus I assume that the recent update for a software like “samba-client 4.16.0”
triggered special consequences (since 2022-03-24?).

I observe that the specified SMB share is still working also together with the
file management tool “Thunar 4.16.11-177.3” (for example.)

2022-03-09 Thread Markus Elfring

Bug ID: 451310
Summary: Prevent start of non-running applications according to
consistent session management
   Product: ksmserver
   Version: 5.24.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I would appreciate a working session management for my desktop.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. The application “Konqueror 21.12.3” was started (for example).
2. This program was terminated a bit later.
3. Some files were intentionally deleted by the command “rm
~/.config/session/konqueror*”.
4. A logout was performed while session storage should be active.
5. Another login was triggered for the previously selected user.

OBSERVED RESULT
The application “Konqueror” was started again despite of the detail that it
should not belong to the programs which were configured for automatic starting.

EXPECTED RESULT
Some application windows may be restored for another work session but without
the programs which were intentionally terminated before.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430348

(In reply to Christophe Giboudeaux from comment #6)
I determined possible reasons already for the failed build checks.

* I find that a storage location like “/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/zlib.pc”
(or “/usr/lib64/libz.so”) should be also considered by the build script
  (besides the found header file).

* My Linux software distribution does not provide a debug package so far.
  https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE%3AFactory/zlib

* I can choose a setting for the variable “ZLIB_LIBRARY”
which let a build generation succeed by the program
  “CMake GUI 3.19.1-438.d_t_b.2”.
But it seems that such a selection is not picked up by
  the tool “kdesrc-build” so far.

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Build tools call other programs which can be additionally configured by
environment variables.
I suggest to help with editing environment variables so that selected settings
are active during the execution of involved tools.

I came along the need (for example) to set a directory selection for the
variable “PKG_CONFIG_PATH”.

> What do you mean by object attributes?

It will be useful to work with other software applications by the way of
storing additional data like network identifiers, product or article numbers. I
guess that such values might not be storable as further XML attributes for
usual SVG elements.
But the specification provides a way for storing such information into a
standardised XML element “metadata”.

How will such information be represented together with the object properties in

Now I wonder about the need for the following change in the implementation of
