oh yes, I used to use shift + insert in terminal, as ctrl+c is used for
something else ...is shift+delete it used anywhere else?
gui people don't use terminal that much to care about it, terminal people
should be able to set their own shortcuts, maybe?
and now shift + delete simply doesn't work at all... one of those will have to
give up..

how do you feel about ctrl+c instead of alt+f4/ctrl+q?

its a weird issue, it only happens to me when I select Czech Republic as

see this in attached screenshot.
I'll try to replicate this in a new user profile with default locale, later

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open a menu from application launcher, navigate into an internet or office
category
2. find many (useless) applications which are even duplicated due to multiple
categories used
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
too many entries in application menu, contactprintthemeeditor,
contactprinteditor and headerthemeeditor imho should not be there, instead they
are there twice.
this is not me, i just found someone who seen that the same way:

EXPECTED RESULT
having contactprintthemeeditor, contactprinteditor and headerthemeeditor
disposed somewhere in settings or "More applications"

maybe removing dependency to kdepim-themeeditors would resolve my problem, is
it something which can be done upstream, or is it a distribution which should
fix this?

SUMMARY

Kate is my most favorite text editor for 10+ years, one of many features i like
and use is "Replace..." and in its dialog, there are few buttons, I am talking
about Replace All, which, when alt is pressed shows that (in English locale)
Alt+A would replace all, this however stopped working couple years ago.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open a text file in kate
2. hit Ctrl+R and type something in Find - "." is good enough for Regular
expression mode
3. hit Alt+A to Replace All

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing is replaced, Alt+R works and replaces first instance of string in Find
in opened text, clicking on the Replace All button replaces all instances

EXPECTED RESULT
Alt+A should do same thing as clicking on Replace All

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
...I would prefer this to be as a keyboard shortcut, so it stays the same even
in non-english locale - not all users of my computer are English speakers.

"Frets on Fire" is yet another application where this would be a nice feature
if it worked - the game uses F1 to F6 keys, some kwin effects as expose were
assigned by me to some fn keys and yakuake uses (by default annoyingly useless)
F1 key to show the console, I hoped to keep the expose effect as well as
yakuake and still be able to play the game (let my son play that) by forcing
ignoring the global keyboard shortcuts ... but it doesn't work.

i specifically mentioned sudo behaviour - not root forever, but 5 minutes of

ends, if you need it again you type sudo and if its within time limit and such,
it does not ask for the password again.. do you think that sudo is a security
risk?

2. while ongoing, do another one - fill password

SUMMARY
crash every time, i think it can be some network related issue (behind local
network, no proxy)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open some installed application description, write a review how much you
like the application.
2. select No for Useful? question of a worthless review's saying that
application doesn't work
3. observe the crash

I managed to reproduce this behaviour about 3 times today.

OBSERVED RESULT
crash

EXPECTED RESULT
fair reviews from honest people, but its mostly from spiteful dummies who often
don't know what their problems are or even how to troubleshoot them

and it is getting more difficult than it used to be - for example this app is
Discover here, but executable is named plasma-discover - i almost gave up
reporting this issue before i got it.. and getting a version number or About
system as mentioned in a new bug template is not possible in plasma-discover

Hello, I am having (almost) same 'issue' with openvpn, but I don't think vpn in
question is relevant - what is relevant is network topology effectively
disabling local discovery.

android client of kdeconnect seems not using it's list of custom device IPs
more than once it is added, if it would have used that list instead of relying
solely on local discovery via broadcast, the issue would not have existed.

I would love to use the kdeconnect, but I believe that I need vpn more.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 429345] digital clock applet shows holidays based on time locale

I am sorry for spamming your mailboxes with this non-issue - I made a mistake
somewhere when testing my claim about US holidays showing up together with
explicitly selected calendars - this is not true - the US holidays list shows
up only in case when no other calendar is explicitly selected in the Holidays
config page..

2020-11-20 Thread Martin Zbořil
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429345

I don't agree with the resolution as duplicate of the stalled issue - this is
really not related to the linked issue except that this issue is also showing
when workaround from the linked one is applied - I don't understand why US
holidays should show up for English (English does not mean US no?) localization
of Swedish time standard instead of Swedish ones.

i am now trying to find a location of the US holidays and delete it as a
workaround of this issue ;)

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 429345] New: digital clock applet shows holidays based on time locale

2020-11-19 Thread Martin Zbořil
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429345

Bug ID: 429345
Summary: digital clock applet shows holidays based on time
locale
   Product: frameworks-plasma
   Version: 5.68.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: libplasma
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: kdebugzi...@perfugium.net
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
with somewhat recent simplification in KDE an option of formatting dates to ISO
8601 is disabled.. thanks?
so a workaround was proposed in
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340982#c149 and works well, except for a
side-effect of showing US holidays in Digital clock's applet's calendar popup
... I just wanted my self-sorting iso 8601 without stupid side effects like
this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. like dates sorted in only logical way, use KDE and let it take this away
from you for sake of misplaced simplification - find a workaround in 6 years
old, unresolved issue.
2. set your digital clock applet to show holidays which you selected.
3. see US holidays in the list of holidays when no US holidays were explicitly
selected.

OBSERVED RESULT
holidays calendar added without a way how to remove it and not loosing the
superior date format.

EXPECTED RESULT
locale based holidays should only be added as explicitly selected holiday list
in the settings (if you insist of cleaning user's bottom for them), not like it
is now.

I am experiencing same issue with plasmashell 5.10.5 on kubuntu 17.10
and configuration with single screen and two panels organised as in unity
where left panel is set to auto-hide, this worked once it was set up

auto-hide is set again, the right panel still does not hide and covers the
active window forever.
