[Tokodon] [Bug 495532] New: Language select in Tokodon is very hard to use (+ suggestions how to fix that)

2024-10-29 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=495532

Bug ID: 495532
Summary: Language select in Tokodon is very hard to use (+
suggestions how to fix that)
Classification: Applications
   Product: Tokodon
   Version: 24.08.2
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, j...@redstrate.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open Tokodon
2. create new message
3. select a different language than default

OBSERVED RESULT

- the order of the languages seems arbitrary (why is English called “American
English” and listed close to the bottom, neither E nor A are at the end of the
alphabet)
- there is no way to search/filter for languages, making the user to carefully
scroll through the whole list to spot the desired language

EXPECTED RESULT

- sort languages by alphabet (in either their native tongue or in the default
language of KDE/Tokodon)
- enable search/filter of languages, so the user can simply find english by
typing the (first) letters of it

[kwin] [Bug 427920] Blank screen playing video in full screen

I can confirm this issue persist in:

Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.10.10-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 30.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics
Manufacturer: SLIMBOOK
Product Name: PROX-AMD5

If it is relevant:
- my laptop’s screen is 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz (see above)
- my external screen is 1920×1080 @ 144 Hz (AOC 24G2W1G4)

I can replicate it both when clicking full-screen (or pressing `f`) in YouTube
and Invidious on Firefox, in full-screening Haruna and starting the
presentation mode in LibreOffice Impress.

As a...@stronzi.org said, it seems to be connected to VRR (Variable Refresh
Rate).

By default in Plasma’s SystemSettings VRR is set to “automatic”, which as
described in this bug report, seems to trigger the black screen when something
goes full-screen.

I can also confirm that setting VRR to “never”, works around this bug.

Then I also tried to set VRR to “always”, which right away blacked out my
external screen. Which is why I’m quite confident VRR has something to do with
this bug.

I can confirm this on EndeavourOS (Arch) for 24.05.1 and the German Neo2 layout

Please see attached a screenshot that shows that the layout selected is indeed

Kubrik already includes a solver, so that part is done. It is also already
possible to save and open stored cubes, so that is nice.

But the only way to edit the cube’s faces is to rotate its sides in Kubrik.
This does not help, if one is having issues with solving a physical cube and
they don’t know/remember how they came to the problem they’re facing.

>From what I can tell, all that is needed is a way to edit the colours of the
cube’s fields (and a function to check that each colour is on the right amount
of fields).

It seems it existed at least since 2012:

To avoid confusion (and potential trade mark issues) it might make sense to

SUMMARY

Yakuake sticky option does not work, but instead shows the window just on one
virtual desktop instead of all. I can replicate this consistently with the
Settings bug (described below).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open Yakuake
2. in Settings ↦ Window ↦ Position make sure that “Show on all desktops” is
checked
3. switch to a different virtual desktop

OBSERVED RESULT

Yakuake stays only on the original virtual desktop.

EXPECTED RESULT

Yakuake should be sticky and show on all virtual desktops.

Given that this is a pretty annoying bug, will it be backported to KF5 or will
all Btrfs users need to wait for KF6 and Plasma 6 to become stable before they
can use Baloo (in > 6 months from now)?

I realise that it is all hands on deck for KF6 now, but as this is a bug, and
the patch clearly works on KF5 already, it would be really nice if KF5’s Baloo
got fixed too.

[kmail2] [Bug 473391] New: Having a special / non-ASCII character in your e-mail address fails to fill in the From field (also when answering calendar invites)

2023-08-14 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473391

Bug ID: 473391
Summary: Having a special / non-ASCII character in your e-mail
address fails to fill in the From field (also when
answering calendar invites)
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.23.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

By default I (am forced to) use as my primary e-mail address , which translates to . Since I
changed my primary Identity in KMail to that, it stopped populating the From
field when I’m writing e-mail in KMail.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. set your primary Identity to have an e-mail address with a non-ASCII
character (e.g. š)
2. write an e-mail – either new or as a reply

OBSERVED RESULT

Notice that the From field is empty, even though the right default Identity is
automatically selected.

EXPECTED RESULT

Have the From field populate as expected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is quite annoying because for every single e-mail I send, I now need to
manually select the Identity.

In addition, I noticed that answering to calendar invitations through KMail
started throwing errors that it cannot send the e-mail, which I suspect is
connected to the issue with the From field being empty.

them under the wrong IBAN filed, scattering the transactions of a single
account through several newly created wrong accounts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. have ISO 20022 XML (e.g. from your bank)
2. import it through File ↦ Import ↦ Import…

OBSERVED RESULT

To illustrate, let’s use the variable IBAN_my as the IBAN number of the user’s
account and IBAN_other{?} as the IBAN accounts that are not theirs, with {?}
being a number to differentiate between the different IBANs.

Under Operations what happens is:
• IBAN_my includes imported operations – that’s good
• but there are suddenly also new accounts created there as IBAN_other1,
IBAN_other2, IBAN_other3, IBAN_other4, etc. which are empty.

EXPECTED RESULT
• IBAN_other{?} not being created at all

[ghostwriter] [Bug 460669] New: Make GhostWriter Activity-aware, so different documents can be open in different Activities

2022-10-18 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460669

Bug ID: 460669
Summary: Make GhostWriter Activity-aware, so different
documents can be open in different Activities
Classification: Applications
   Product: ghostwriter
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: megan.con...@kdemail.net
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Currently GhostWriter always opens the last opened document. Which in general
is a good feature.

But the problem is that it is not Activity-aware, so if you have different
Activities for different tasks (e.g. Blogging, Policy writing, Note taking, …)
it will always open the last opened document regardless which Activity you are
in. This is very annoying.

It would be great if GhostWriter would remember the last opened document _per
Activity_.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create at least two Activities
2. open GhostWriter in one and start writing a document
3. switch to a different Activity and open GhostWriter there

OBSERVED RESULT

GhostWriter opens the same document in all Activities.

EXPECTED RESULT

GhostWriter remembers the last opened document per Activity and opens that
document when ran in that Activity.

[Akonadi] [Bug 452588] New: Adding a iCal file as resource ends up in a duplicated entry in KOrganizer, Zanshin and Akonadi Console

2022-04-13 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452588

Bug ID: 452588
Summary: Adding a iCal file as resource ends up in a duplicated
entry in KOrganizer, Zanshin and Akonadi Console
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.19.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ICal file resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

On a fresh new user I added (an existing) todo.ics as an a iCal file resource
and after doing so, in Zanshin, KOrganizer and Akonadi Console I see the
resource duplicated – once with its proper name (e.g. `ToDo`) and once with its
internal name (e.g. `akonadi_ical_resource_3`). Only one of the two includes
any events though.

Potentially related: MySQL also spent 100% CPU for a long long time (see
below).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. have an existing iCal file with todos on hand
2. add that file as iCal File Resource – does not matter whether through
Zanshin or KOrganizer

OBSERVED RESULT
- the todo list shows as an appropriately named (e.g. `ToDo`) and working
resource in Zanshin, KOrganizer, Akonadi Console
- but it _also_ shows as a wrongly named (e.g. `akonadi_ical_resource_3`) and
empty resource in Zanshin, Korganizer, Akonadi Console
- during this process I noticed Akonadi being unavailable for quite some time
and also MySQL using up 100% CPU for a long long time (see below) before
Akonadi started working again – perhaps related:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384309

EXPECTED RESULT

See only the properly named resource.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I’m attaching a fuller log of how it happened this time (IRC log from
#akonadi):

I’m having issues with Akonadi again.
In order to more properly fix some mess-up, I decided this time to create a new
user and start from scratch. This will be a bit (but not super) long, I
apologise in advance.
1) I renamed the old user to `backup_hook` (with `usermod --login`) and also
its home to `/home/backup_hook`.
Previously the above user was `hook` and its home appropriately `/home/hook`.
2) I created a new user `hook` with a fresh, empty `/home/hook`.
3) I logged into Plasma as this new `hook`, with a fresh new Plasma set of
defaults :)
4) I stared KMail and entered the credentials to my default e-mail account
(quite a few e-mails there) through IMAP, I let them all download.
5) I started KOrganizer and entered my Nextcloud servers’s credentials
--- so far so good ---
6) I started Zanshin and added my todo.ics
--- for some reason, none of the todos seem to have showed up – and there’s _a
lot_ of them ---
7) While the things were syncing, I started moving some folders from
/home/backup_hook to /home/hook – documents, etc., (no settings).
--- at this point my laptop froze and after 15' I hard-rebooted it ---
8) When I logged into Plasma again, I got greeted by Zanshin not working and
Akonadi claiming it’s not registered at D-Bus and agents are missing
9) just as I was writing point 8) the Akonadi Migrator popped up and things
started working again. Oddly enough I can see my todo.ics twice in Zanshin and
twice in Akonadi Console – as “Todo” and as “akonadi_agent_ical_2” (or
something like that)
10) Once the Akonadi Migrator was done, I restarted the Akonadi server.
--- now it does *not* work again ---
--- but I have mysqld hammering my CPU ---
At point 8) this is the report I got:
https://thatfunkyplace.wheremymonkeyis.at/s/QeFFTWxBm6AoJpL
(for a later report, I’m still waiting for the button in Akonadi Console or
Zanshin to actually pop up something)
--- now MySQL stopped churning and Akonadi works again ---
11) KMail seems to work OK, but both Korganizer and Zanshin show empty – no
entries, even no resources listed at all. Which is doubly-odd because the
resources are clearly listed in their respective settings dialogues as well as
in Akonadi Console.
--- …and MySQL is churning 100% CPU again. ---
12) After MySQL stopped eating all the CPU, I can see some resources and
entries in KOrganizer and Zanshin again – oddly enough, the todo.ics _again_
shows twice: as ”TODO” and as “akonadi_ical_resource_2”
--- next day ---
Hm, I don’t like this one bit …I just noticed that after all that MySQL
churning, the vast majority of the messages in KMail show as empty. Especially
anything older than 8 months.
…what I like _even less_ is that this seems to have now replicated to the
server-side as well. so even in RoundCube I see those messages empty. This is
pretty bad.

[Akonadi] [Bug 452586] New: During an IMAP sync e-mail body of most messages in Akonadi/KMail get removed permanently

2022-04-13 Thread Matija Šuklje
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452586

Bug ID: 452586
Summary: During an IMAP sync e-mail body of most messages in
Akonadi/KMail get removed permanently
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.19.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Occasionally KMail/Akonadi will during a sync(?) lose/remove the bodies of most
messages. This issue in irreversible and spreads also to the server.

This is a grave issue, since data – whole messages – are lost. Only the headers
remain.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. make sure you have “download messages for offline use” enabled for the IMAP
resourse
2. the e-mail sync – cannot predict or tell what triggers the issue with the
sync TBH
3. eventually notice some e-mail is missing their bodies

OBSERVED RESULT

Many e-mails are missing their message body parts, but the headers seem intact.

The issue propagates to the servers (probably in the next sync), so now
_everywhere_ these e-mails are lacking message bodies.

EXPECTED RESULT

Message bodies (and headers) for all e-mails to stay intact ;)

 Component: Google Resource

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. receive an invite from Google Calendar to join a meeting that includes a
meet.google.com field (i.e. be invited to a Google Meet call)
2. accept the invite – regardless of whether through gmail.com or KMail

The same happens if you initiate that invite yourself through
https://calendar.google.com

OBSERVED RESULT

The calendar entry in KOrganizer does not show the Google Meet URL to the
meeting/call.

Typically this results in everyone else wondering why you’re not on the call or
complain because you are asking for the missing URL, when they clearly included
it in the first place.

EXPECTED RESULT

Have that link show somewhere.

[ksecretsservice] [Bug 403300] New: Implement Pwned Passwords password checker into KWallet / KSecretService

2019-01-17 Thread Matija Šuklje

Bug ID: 403300
Summary: Implement Pwned Passwords password checker into

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Client library
  Assignee: va...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
  Target Milestone: ---

KWallet / KSecretService is a great password manager, but once a password is
breached, it’s not easy to find it.

Have I Been Pwned is a website (and service) that tracks if your e-mail address
has shown up in any breaches. Recently they introduced a new service, where you
can check how often a password has shown up before – in order to assess how
safe it (still) is:

https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords

It is also possible to use their API to check several passwords in one go – if
this could be added into KDE, it would be awesome:

https://haveibeenpwned.com/API/v2#PwnedPasswords

Alternatively, KDE could also download the torrents with hashes from the
website (the files are 10+ GB though!) and do the scan either locally or on
some other dedicated server.

An extra cool feature would be if KDE were doing regular checks if the
passwords are still unique or not.

I got the invitation by e-mail as a VCS, which I opened in KMail, which opened
KOrganizer, where I imported it to the CalDAV calendar. It didn’t show in
KOrganizer, but it shows on Nextcloud (my CalDAV server).

Removing and re-creating the account in Akonadi did not solve it though, so I
guess this is a different issue. Still wanted to update you on this.

I stopped using Blogilo several years ago when I switched my blogging software.

Additionally, Blogilo seems to be officially unmaintained:

I’m resolving this as unmaintained.

Thank you for triaging it :)

I’ll keep an eye open. I knew I had some out of sync events recently, but can’t
recall if it was via Nextcloud (14) or Google Calendar.

I can confirm that this is still an issue in KOrganizer 5.7.3.

Furthermore, it seems it does not depend on the KDE user having a Google
Calendar.

I have two laptops:

• work laptop – where we pay for Google apps, including Google Calendar and use
that
• private laptop – where I do not have a Google account, but my primary
calendars are on my own Nextcloud (i.e. SabreDAV) CalDAV

I have been told that in both cases if I click on “approve” in the invite as
described herein, I cause a duplicate entry either in my own Google Calendar
and/or other participants’ calendars.

If memory serves me right, it is worse on work laptop, than on my private one.
On my private laptop, I think all that happens is that the original creator
receives a duplicate event, but I don’t (and I think other participants
neither). On my work laptop, I think everyone (who already accepted the
original invite?) receives a duplicate, including me.

In order to fix this bug, I am prepared to be a test bunny for finding what
exactly causes this bug.

I did. That’s how I managed to work around it.

Mageia’s stable is still and carrying that version of KDE(PIM) and Akonadi. I’m
anxiously waiting for Mageia 6 to finally come out in the next (hopefully)
weeks – and with it the Plasma 5 (LTS)!

I’m optimistic that I won’t stumble upon this bug again, but if I do, I’ll open
a new bug, as instructed. Thanks :)

[kmail2] [Bug 266154] Bogofilter doesn't work with KMail anymore

 Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED
 Resolution|--- |FIXED

No idea what caused it, but I found it and here’s a fix/workaround…

Actual problem:
`~/.kde4/share/config/akonadi_mailfilter_agentrc` suddenly prepends my home
directory to the bogofilter line.
e.g. it says:
`action-args-1=/home/hook/bogofilter -s`
…which is obviously wrong.

Fix/workaround:
change all such lines in the file (or via the KMail Filter dialog) to point to
the actual command, which can be easily found by running `which bogofilter` in
the console. Most likely this will be:
`action-args-1=/usr/bin/bogofilter -s`

Side-note:
The same applies for the antivirus scan filter and the `kmail_clamav.sh` line.

Closing the bug again, as it seems it’s somewhat different and the workaround
is stated above.

[www.kde.org] [Bug 361153] New: Missing any information or dedicated website for KDE Frameworks / KF5

2016-03-29 Thread Matija Šuklje via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361153

Bug ID: 361153
Summary: Missing any information or dedicated website for KDE
Frameworks / KF5
   Product: www.kde.org
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
   URL: http://kde.org
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kde-...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name

Apart from release info, it is extremely hard to find any description or
information on KF5 on KDE’s website.

If the KDE Frameworks are to be used by a wider community, we have to have
something that “sells” it, so people are willing to dive into the actual docs
and code :)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1) go to: www.kde.org
2) try to find info on KF5 / KDE Frameworks

Actual Results:
do *not* succeed

Expected Results:
a nice webpage that explains what KDE Frameworks are and who and why it is
useful, where to get more info and contacts

[zanshin] [Bug 357130] New: Not able to enable or add todo collection (existing (sub)calendar on ownCloud server)

2015-12-24 Thread Matija Šuklje via KDE Bugzilla

 Component: general
  Assignee: er...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name

In the Sources pane I don’t have all the calendars/sources that exist. This
might be due to me adding, hiding etc. sources in the beta where buttons were
not that transparent at what they do.

But now that I want to add/enable/show those sources, I don’t seem to be able
in any way. There is no button, no right-click menu, nothing useful in the
Settings menu, nothing I can find.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to add/show/enable (re)source of todos in the Source pane
2. Try right-clikcing on it
3. Check the Settings menu

Actual Results:
not being there

Expected Results:
being there :)

[zanshin] [Bug 357103] New: Zanshin (0.3 beta) crashes if I enable/disable a collection/source

2015-12-23 Thread Matija Šuklje via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357103

Bug ID: 357103
   Summary: Zanshin (0.3 beta) crashes if I enable/disable a
collection/source
   Product: zanshin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: er...@kde.org
  Reporter: mat...@suklje.name
CC: mbe...@ipsquad.net

Sometimes if I click to enable or disable a collection in the Sources list,
Zanshin dies.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

1) Lunch Zanshin (obviously)
2) enable or disable a collection listed under “Sources”

Actual Results:
3) blammo! it crashes

Expected Results:
Not crash, obviously.

Application: zanshin (0.2.80)
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.5 (Compiled from sources)
Qt Version: 4.8.6
Operating System: Linux 4.1.13-desktop-2.mga5 x86_64
Distribution: "Mageia 5"

I haven’t noticed any other side-effects to this so far, but it’s still a bit
annoying, since this is the only method to filter out or find todos that belong
to a specific calendar (e.g. shared work vs., private calendar)

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.
