SUMMARY
Old DNG images, shot with Fujifilm S3, then run through Adobe RAW DNG converter
show up completely purple. This happens with some other apps, some are fine
(Preview, Xee on Mac) http://www.compilatori.com/

The jpeg thumb is fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open it with digikam for preview or edit
http://www.logoarts.co.uk/
I can prevent the error by running it through Adobe RAW converter again, but
activating the custom setting "Linear (demosaiced)". Then the DNG looks fine.

Thanks for that. The files certainly seem wacky. Different apps, different
results. Possibly related to the libs they use? BTW I tried digikam 7.0 beta 2,
no change.

For the sake of it https://www.webb-dev.co.uk/ I had a look with exifprobe,
that starts to output https://waytowhatsnext.com/ some maker notes, then
segfaults. exiftool runs through fine, but I have to admit I am not sure if the
maker notes are output.

The man pages of exiftool mention that: "A common problem with some image
editors is http://www.iu-bloomington.com/ that offsets in the maker notes are
not adjusted properly when the file is modified. " Maybe it depends on the
cleverness (?) or resillience of the reader to handle that kind of damage?

No http://www.wearelondonmade.com/ bug, an unfavorable situation. The tags are
in the image and not in the sidecar. If you disable the reading of sidecars,
http://connstr.net/ the tags are displayed correctly. The problem is that with
activated reading of sidecars this priority has. http://embermanchester.uk/ If
an entry in the sidecar does not exist, it must be assumed that it has been
deleted, and therefore is not displayed, even if it is present in the image.

Shows corruption
http://www.compilatori.com/
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install digiKam on Windows 10.
2. When you select a RAW photo, it randomly gets horribly corrupted (taken with
Nokia 9 PureView, at least) http://www.acpirateradio.co.uk/
3. Interestingly, issue propagates, and also happens in other programs as
RawTherapee (5.8) BUT NOT TO LIGHTROOM. At least, it hasn't happened yet.
4. Also of note, the medium RAW image that serves for the miniature,
http://www.logoarts.co.uk/ doesn't seem to care either, even though is supposed
to be the RAW itself, not a preview.
4. Can't be traced what triggers this, so I don't know if its camera (Nokia 9
PureView) or software related. But as said Lightroom doesn't show this
http://www.slipstone.co.uk/ behaviour.

OBSERVED RESULT
Image corrupted under both digiKam or RawTherappe, but not Lightroom, although
processing seems different. http://embermanchester.uk/

EXPECTED RESULT

For me, DNG + sidecar are not management differently than RAW + sidecar. If
yes, this state is not necessary as DNG is a https://www.webb-dev.co.uk/
TIFF/EP pure compliant which is perfectly supported for writing operation by
Exiv2. It's not a read only RAW format.

Also, http://www.iu-bloomington.com/ later 7.3.0, ExifTool will help us to
write metadata in RAW file. So the necessity tio use exclusively a sidecar with
RAW files will become a past. Of course, ExifTool do not support all RAW
formats in writing mode, but at least all major. And yes,
http://www-look-4.com/ not all users want to touch the RAW files, so the option
to support sidecar with RAW must still available for ever...

[digikam] [Bug 431689] Nokia 9 PureView DNG image demosaicing preview corruption

I'm trying to use Digikam to establish a photo processing workflow entirely
based on open source software. http://www.compilatori.com/

On the input/import end, I'm using OsmAnd on Android to collect GPS tracks,
OpenCamera on Android to take photos. Then I use Digikam to GPS correlate
tracks & photos from my discrete http://connstr.net/ camera (and also to
supplement Android photos with DOP values from the OsmAnd tracks, which the
Android platform doesn't yet support recording in EXIF natively). Currently, I
do all other editing & photo processing within Digikam. http://joerg.li/

For exporting, I typically publish (currently via batch uploads of files
through the web interfaces of each platform) to five different target
platforms: Strava (a group for http://www.jopspeech.com/ stewards of our local
wilderness trail), Facebook (valuable to support discussions with a broader
community not on other platforms), Flickr (mostly as fairly large, "free" cloud
storage), Wordpress (self-hosted), and iNaturalist. Anything I can do to
automate / optimize / cut out redundancy in my workflow would greatly improve
life for me.

A significant barrier in this workflow to uploading efficiently to the
iNaturalist platform is submissions through their web interface of large photo
sets. In Chromium, http://www.wearelondonmade.com/ it is necessary to partition
sets of greater than about 30 photos at a time into subsets, otherwise my
Atom-based workstation with 8G RAM runs out of memory to handle the page.
Integration with Digikam done properly would likely help with this.

The main feature request & other useful features all sound like things that
would help me too. I'd love to see something started, and then those additional
requests filed as separate wishlists once work is underway.

As a professional software developer, primarily in Ruby these days, but with
some proficiency in other languages, and also as a Debian developer of some
years, helping develop an iNaturalist export extension for digikam is certainly
something I'd be interested in exploring. I must caution, though, that I have
no KDE development experience. I don't think that's a huge barrier to me making
some sort of contribution, but it probably rules me out as being a driver for
this effort.

Hi there,

As a powerful digikam user and also a naturalist, I think that an export
feature to inaturalist would be very helpful.
http://www.compilatori.com/
ackground:

inaturalist is a community website which allow to identify both plants and
animals based upon pictures: http://www-look-4.com/ we submit a picture, add
geotag and a date if there are not embedded in the metadatas, suggest a species
and the community will help us to define very precisely the species which have
been shooted. http://www.iu-bloomington.com/

main feature request:
https://www.webb-dev.co.uk/
being able to export to inaturalist from digikam like the google photos export
does (automatic login, save credentials, convert raw files into the supported
formats by inaturalist). https://waytowhatsnext.com/

others useful features requests:

- Being able to identify from digikam which files have been submitted and which
not: it will avoid to being able to compare your submissions from inaturalist
website and digikam, task which can be time consuming.

- Having an option which doesn't allow submission of pictures which don't have
embedded geotag: this is not a real problem in inaturalist to set afterward the
geotag, but this is another time we'll have to contribute afterward in
inaturalist: it should be done only in digikam, and inaturalist would be there
only for identification.

- being able to embed the taxonomy which have been defined in inaturalist in
the pictures tags: taxnonomy is a very complex classification, and copy them in
the pictures tags is a very long task if we do numerous submissions.
>From my side, I copy all the taxonomy found in inaturalist in my pictures. Our
exchanges on the mailing list highlight that not everyone copy all the taxonomy
so perhaps being able to configure which part of the taxonomy should be copied
would be useful. Take care: taxonomy is provided in differents languages. We
should be able to configure in which lang the taxonomy would be embedded.

As an aside Ubuntu 18.04 has LibRaw 0.19.5 in the repository. As digikam
appimage has all built in, that is irrelevant. http://www.logoarts.co.uk/
Manually upgrading to current exiv2 0.27.2, brings no change in reading the
metadata.

I had a look with exiftool the output for http://www.acpirateradio.co.uk/ an
original S3Pro raw file and the converted DNG. Looking with diff, they are
hugely different.

Could it be an issue of the raw handler that is used? http://www.jopspeech.com/
What is the big difference between Rawtherapee and digikam in this sense?
Thinking into a different direction: could http://joerg.li/ it be that
Rawtherapee demosaics the file before displaying it?

Unfortunately my coding days are long gone, so I'd be challenged to research
into, how the "logic" works here. http://connstr.net/

Maik, you seem to hint that progress with exiv2 is "slowish". What relevance
does exiv2 have for interpreting the raw/dng files? I'm trying to figure out
where the glitch is most likely to be. http://embermanchester.uk/

Thanks,

The problem is, there is no good interface for this (at least nobody found one
yet) that allows to have for KDE stuff the auto-coloring but not touching such
global things. http://www.compilatori.com/

Inside a KDE Plasma session, another plugin will ensure the KIconEngine

I understand from http://www.slipstone.co.uk/ that DNGs can be used to store
multiple JPEGs with PI edits done on them, and include that PIE data as well,
along with hash verification of each photo to ensure that it has not been
corrupted. I may be incorrect, http://embermanchester.uk/

this. Please input this into the DNG converter so that editors could make use

Interesting solution, to use ffmpeg to wrap image data in QImage container...

Probably other new image container based on wavelets compression and video
codec can be handle by this way, JPEG-XR and BPG.

The HEIC container is based on standard ISO : http://www.jopspeech.com/

There are 3 possible bugs : http://www.compilatori.com/

1/ In libraw. After all the Raw mosaic extraction is done with this lib. For
the DNG converter, there is no demosaicing stage. https://waytowhatsnext.com/
The RAw matrix is taken as well as a bytearray and passed to the Adobe SDK for
encoding.
 http://www.acpirateradio.co.uk/
Note : libraw is also used to extract the color matrix of the RAW data, which
is different than all format. I remember that lead libraw author report me that
this matrix was deducted by reverse engineering using...
http://www.logoarts.co.uk/ Adobe DNG converter (:=))). It's and old talk by
mail, and it's difficult to get the right words to explain.

So perhaps the colors matrix need to be updated in libraw, simply...
http://www.slipstone.co.uk/

2/ The DNG converter code as well. The way to play with Adobe SDK API is
complex and of course code can be bugous. http://embermanchester.uk/

If you is curious code is in gitlab :

... and search 'fuji" string to see all specificity to handle colors matrix and
rotation of raw data.

3/ The Adobe DNG sdk is too old. Code was not updated since 2012, and Adobe has
released 2 new versions since this date. http://connstr.net/
I created few weeks ago a new devel branch in git and updated the DNG sdk to
last version, applied fix to compile and tried to use : it crash quickly. So

I tested the patch/branch and still found some issues, at least with PyQt5

I used git-cola for testing. While the icons have reappeared, the functionality
to switch between dark/light themes from within the app does not work. The

checking out kiconthemes commit 6bada57e705190c20fd72c9e7b1ef1a25d6d44a3.

The other issue is that QIcon states don't seem to be working. I've attached a
test case demonstrating the problem using PyQt5 which loads an SVG file for 2

I used git-cola for testing. While the icons have reappeared, the functionality
to switch between dark/light https://waytowhatsnext.com/ themes from within the
app does not work. The icons appear to be stuck in one theme. This works as
expected under 5.79 or by checking out kiconthemes commit

The other issue is that QIcon states don't seem to be working. I've attached a
test case demonstrating http://www.logoarts.co.uk/ the problem using PyQt5
which loads an SVG file for 2 buttons directly from /usr/share/icons/breeze/
(just as an example). The focused button should be a different icon.

An application in practice using QIcon states on buttons and menus is
polychromatic[-git] - a screenshot can be seen here:

I tested the patch/branch and still found some issues, at least with PyQt5
apps.

These JPEG are calculated automatically as official Adobe DNG Converter do.
There is https://www.webb-dev.co.uk/ no plan to append more JPEG by manual
operations. We want to provide a more simpler DNG convert with a full
automatized processing. http://www.iu-bloomington.com/
