SUMMARY
The windows contents are blank (only headers are visible) when after restarting
the session I use alt-tab or "All windows" effect on restored windows.
After I open the restored windows, the problem disappears.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

When using alt-tab or "All windows", the restored windows are empty.

EXPECTED RESULT
Anything except for the void. It is impossible to alt-tab empty windows.

KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0

It is a Roskomnadzor-related problem. This agency in Russia is supposed to ban

[kwin] [Bug 427300] XMoveResizeWindow cannot resize past the taskbar

2024-06-08 Thread Misha Aizatulin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427300

> Sorry, but keeping windows in the work area is intentional.

But I am not suggesting that the window should leave the work area. All I'm
asking for is that it is allowed to extend to the bottom of the screen. You can
still make sure that the top of the window is within the work area if you like.

Unfortunately, neither solution you suggested works for me. I don't want to
make the window fullscreen - I want the width to remain the same. I also
wouldn't want to hide the taskbar - I do like seeing it.

[kwin] [Bug 427300] New: XMoveResizeWindow cannot resize past the taskbar

2020-10-03 Thread Misha Aizatulin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427300

Bug ID: 427300
Summary: XMoveResizeWindow cannot resize past the taskbar
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ava...@hot.ee
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

XMoveResizeWindow cannot resize past the taskbar.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Run
wmctrl -r :ACTIVE: -e 0,-1,-1,-1,N
where N is the height of your screen or larger.

OBSERVED RESULT
The window gets resized to at most (screen height - taskbar height).

EXPECTED RESULT
The window should get resized to N.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Suse 15.2
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: ??
Qt Version: 5.12.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The reason I want this is because I sometimes view images full-screen, by
telling the window to stay above others, and dragging it over the taskbar.

Sadly, if you configure the window to remember it's height, it won't, but
instead will be truncated at the taskbar the next time. So I have to always
manually resize.

[kwin] [Bug 427300] XMoveResizeWindow cannot resize past the taskbar

2020-10-08 Thread Misha Aizatulin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427300

What I'm asking for is allowing the bottom of the window to go to the bottom of
the screen. This will not cause the window to go off-screen, as long as you
keep track of the top. This is also something that is already trivially
possible with the mouse. So I'm asking that XMoveResizeWindow is allowed to do
something that the user is already allowed to do with their mouse.

I might be misunderstanding how color management works, but is applying a
profile a composable operation? If so, is it then correct to say that the job
of gwenview is to apply the image profile and the job of X is to apply the
system profile? If that is correct then why does gwenview need to know the
system profile?

Got it. So if I understand correctly, gwenview tells the system (presumably X)
"I do my own colour management, please don't modify my output", but the system
is ignoring that? Perhaps the thing that modifies output here is not X, but
some component that oyranos relies on? In fact, looks like there's a bug report
to that extent:

Looks like this is still an issue with 2.9.92.

In fact, now the issue is worse - neither "\{" nor "\\{" as triggers work at
all, I presume due to it being confused about escaping.

to submit a PR from whatever version I can compile on my (latest) OS, and
pretty promise it will rebase fine.

alacritty, screen, gnome-terminal use scroll to clear.

May be create preference to select behavior?

Summary: Unable to add Ukraine timezone Europe/Kyiv
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.27.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

> Timezone defintions are not provided by KDE, but from "zoneinfo"

Issue not with definition. Issue with localization.

Localization generated by timezonesi18n_generate.rb script from zoneinfo.
If city name is missed during generation the name will be dropped at runtime
without localization.
Look! It is awesome:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/applets/digital-clock/plugin/timezonesi18n.cpp#L24

I think it is fragile behavior. Not localized city name is much better than
empty string. If you don't know how to translate the name better to keep it as
is.

This two patches works for me.

Main reason for this issue is kwayland cleanup called by
QCoreApplication::quit() signal free registry structure.
Registry is a wayland proxy object and it can't be freed before detach.

Other wayland users like qtwayland try to access this memory after free.
