I don't think so. System Settings should set auto-login to false when the
account that it's set on is deleted. Its failure to do so led to the bug.

[systemsettings] [Bug 434088] New: Removing user with auto-login enabled causes failure to show SDDM on reboot

2021-03-06 Thread Nicholas Estrada
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434088

Bug ID: 434088
   Summary: Removing user with auto-login enabled causes failure
to show SDDM on reboot
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: 116ni...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Removing a secondary user that has auto-login enabled will make the admin user
auto-login enabled. This causes a black screen with cursor and inability to do
anything in that TTY on reboot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a new user with auto-login enabled
2. Reboot. This will log you in as that new user
3. Switch users to admin
4. Delete the new user.
5. Reboot.

OBSERVED RESULT
On reboot, a black screen shows up with a cursor and that's it.

EXPECTED RESULT
SDDM will show up like normal and nothing will auto-login.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.18.5
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.72.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Kernel Version: 5.3.0-28-generic
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

To fix this issue:

1. Use Crl+Alt+F2 to open a new TTY
2. Log in and run `startx`
3. Go to the SDDM settings in System Settings and uncheck the auto-login option
4. Reboot

I was able to get kmail to open again by opening Akonadi Console and
reconfiguring "Local Folders" from there.

I still think this is a bug and THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO NOT HAVE LOCAL FOLDERS
CLUTTERING UP THE SIDEBAR without it killing the entire application.

2019-04-22 Thread Nicholas Estrada

  Platform: Neon Packages

Kdenlive crashes immediately when I try to open a project that I was working on
a week ago before the 19.04 update. I was leery of updating because I thought
this might happen, but I decided to do it anyway and revert if needed. However,
the worst is what happened. As soon as I try to open this project, it dies
completely and I get the "Program Crashed" dialog.

Everything else seems to work just fine. New projects seem to save just fine.
Opening these new projects also seems to work just fine. The new update just
broke compatibility with old projects. Bug report output below:

Another error message: this time from the terminal:

```
Error loading plugin: "The shared library was not found."
This module has no valid entry symbol at all. The reason could be that it's
still using K_EXPORT_COMPONENT_FACTORY with a custom X-KDE-FactoryName which is
not supported anymore
--- Comment #2 from Nicholas Estrada <116ni...@gmail.com> ---
I found the file kcm_elisa_local_file.so in the build/bin directory of the
unzipped source folder, created when I installed Elisa. I moved it to
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kcm_elisa_local_file.so
I then restarted Elisa and tried again. Here's the error message I got:
"The service 'Elisa Local Files Indexer' does not provide an interface
'KCModule' with keyword 'kcm_elisa_local_file'"
So the error message is different. Not sure what it is now. Could it be because
I disabled Baloo on my system? Baloo wasn't a required package and it shouldn't
interfere with the settings module for Elisa.
[kwin] [Bug 382717] New: System Settings module windows load too tall for screen.
2017-07-25 Thread Nicholas Estrada
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382717
Bug ID: 382717
   Summary: System Settings module windows load too tall for
screen.
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.10.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
Screenshot
I have a screenshot of the "Energy/Saving" module to show an example, but it
shows up on one or two others as well. Basically, these need to be scrollable
and resizeable to something smaller. As of now, I can Alt+Click to drag the
window up above the top of the screen to get to the buttons but it's a pain in
the butt.
2017-07-20 Thread Nicholas Estrada
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382549
Bug ID: 382549
   Summary: "Kmail closed unexpectedly" on every shutdown
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.5.2
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: 116ni...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---
Every time I shut down my system, I get a crash dialog that says "Kmail closed
unexpectedly". Everything works just fine, but it seems like kmail isn't
quitting when it should so the OS is just aggressively killing it.
[dolphin] [Bug 381187] New: Please add Miller Columns back to Dolphin
2017-06-13 Thread Nicholas Estrada
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381187
Bug ID: 381187
   Summary: Please add Miller Columns back to Dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---
Please can we get this back in Dolphin? KDE has been making such wonderful
strides recently and I can't help but think that since the redesign with KDE 5,
there may be some openness to bringing this feature back. Dolphin is amazing.
It could be perfect. Thank you.
It would be really nice to have theme change scheduling built in to KDE Plasma.
As it is, you've got to manually go in and change things. Breeze is awesome
during the day, but at night, I like the dark theme. Can we make this happen?
This is happening for me now too on KDE Neon 5.8. Both in the tray icon and in
the applet itself.
