I already asked which debug info should I provide, but there was no hint/answer. Here classic Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does not work, but also logoff-logon doesn't. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354802 --- Comment #148 from Pasha --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #130) > To reiterate: posting negativity makes people capable of fixing this issue > less likely to do so rather than more, because dealing with you will seem > like an unpleasant experience. Whining and complaining in pubic is thus > counter-productive. Sorry to hit you with the hard truths, but that's just > how it is. :) Yes, after 5 YEARS of kissing some phantom dev's ass, offering availability to help nothing has happened. Wrong strategy. > If you're desperate for this to be fixed, you have the following plausible > options: > 1. Fix it yourself > 2. Convince a technically-minded friend to fix it for you > 3. Raise awareness in a positive manner such that developers *want* to fix > it because they think that working with you on it will be a fun experience > 4. Start a bug bounty for this issue and help it to grow to a large sum > ($1000 or more) > 5. Directly pay a developer to fix it > Pick one. Note that complaining in public isn't one of the effective > options. :) I picked up NUMBER SIX: use ubuntu with Gnome 3. I REFUSE to go back to KDE (which always used to be my fave DE) UNTIL this RIDICULOUS bug gets fixed. I don't play games, I don't switch resolution and the bug was still there till I installed ubuntu. Now, finally, it's gone. Finally effective debugging. You have been already told that even the infamous win 95 didn't have such annoying bug and you devs spend time beating yourself up with arcane mumbo-jumbo while the FRONT LINE OF YOUR PRODUCT IS FLAWED, dancing icons on the desktop are one of the first things every "lucky" one notices. You really must be out of this world guys, wasting so many hours of your life in order to make the perfect software and getting turned down by the very first grandma using KDE and asking "why the hell don't these icons stay where I put them?". Come back down to Earth, realize that a product that does annoy the user ain't really gonna "konquer" the world. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354802 --- Comment #99 from Pasha --- Hello Nick, in just some months this bug will "celebrate" its 5th "anniversary" and it's still around like dogshit on pavements: "unacceptable" has already become an understatement. After fighting over it in 2018 and uselessly offering my cooperation, I sadly catched there is not much interest in fixing it, so I switched to gnome3. But I am still reading this thread, in order to know if I will ever be able to use KDE again, it's always been my favourite. I can give you a hint: not all distros react the same way, I recently had some luck with debian sid and SolydK (pretty nice job distro, btw), so, if you're stubborn enough, your mileage might vary and you could find the sweet spot. This said, good luck, and let us know! Pasha -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

With the most recent modifications, my way out of > this problem, described several times in this and the previous threads, my > fail-safe remedy, the PlasmaConfigSaver, was broken. Now calling it up > results in a freeze, with a black unresponsive screen with just the mouse > cursor, reproduceably. The black, unresponsive screen with just mouse cursor on it is already 3-4 years old and it's the very reason, besides dancing icons, which made me quit KDE. Unfortunately, on the contrary of what you report, results were pretty much unpredictable: you shut down you machine and at the next reboot... BOOM! At first, the only way out was backupping .kde folder and restoring it - just imagine the pain in the ass of backupping your DE every time you switch off your machine... Eventually, the bug got so BIG that even restoring the old .kde folder still didn't sort a way out of the black screen; the problem (and pain) was that I couldn't exactly find what the heck was causing it it always came after initial (long) configurations and a small period of use (like one or two weeks). "Nice" to know this happened on Debian and some other distro I tried. I got so pissed off with this buttfuck that you know how the story went. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360212 --- Comment #44 from Pasha --- Dear Friends, please accept the reality: this bug will NEVER be fixed! It is almost 3 years that it has been signalled and the assignee has done half of nothing, except for badly reacting to all the people who asked for some commitment. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360212 --- Comment #52 from Pasha --- Christoph, let's be honest: it's almost three years that we claim that there is a bug and that we offer our availability in terms of time and effort to correct it, and three years that the former assignee did whatever on this planet but taking care of the issue, and just responding with stuff like "hey, you are using my software! how dare you!". We obviously need some guidance, as you can read through the history, many people tried to do something but without a successful result. Here the issue is not random, I get it almost at every reboot. And I bet that with many others it is the same. Personally I hope that moving to bug 354802 will sort out better results. But, please, don't whine if we call someone on his rotten behaviour. [dolphin] [Bug 432786] in Details Mode, "modified date" field is not consistent, see attachments
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432786 --- Comment #2 from Safeer Pasha --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) the problem lies in the date format. it should be two digits even when one digit would suffice. like this: 14/02/21 not: 14/2/21. if the format is fixed, the alignment will get fixed automatically. i did some research and i think this it is not Dolphin's fault. it about locale and the date format used in the locale. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
