How is it an XWayland issue though? It happens to even native Wayland apps. Is
it that the component for launch feedback animation runs in XWayland? Also I
tried setting my display size to 225% and I can still see it, but my monitor is
small so it's easier to see.

[plasmashell] [Bug 489883] New: Emoji selector doesn't get focused when using its shortcut and it's already open

2024-07-07 Thread Pavel Dobiáš
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489883

Bug ID: 489883
Summary: Emoji selector doesn't get focused when using its
shortcut and it's already open
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.1.1
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Emoji Selector
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: pavel23...@proton.me
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Using shortcut Meta+. to open Emoji Selector when it's already open doesn't
raise it and focus.
Seems like it was meant to be fixed already, but it is broken again, see
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/merge_requests/1303

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use shortcut Meta+. -> Emoji Selector should open
2. Focus and raise another window, keep Emoji Selector open in background
3. Use shortcut Meta+. again

OBSERVED RESULT
Emoji selector will demand attention (orange color in task manager) and will
not focus and raise

EXPECTED RESULT
Emoji selector should raise itself, focus and be instantly usable by the user

SUMMARY
Icons have issues with rendering when browsing through contents of a directory
using the KDE File Portal. The icons are pixelated and strangely alternate when
hovering over them.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KDE File Portal from any application.
2. Observe different icons of the folders, files, folders with preview etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
The icons in the file portal appear pixelated and hovering over them makes them
alternate in a strange way. See attached video and screenshot for reference.

EXPECTED RESULT

Audio Volume - Desktop Widget

SUMMARY
UI elements, like radio buttons, toggles and slider, of widgets/applets render
incorrectly. The shape of the circle isn't smooth and appears to be cut around
the edges. It isn't a consistent issue, as it depends on the size and the
specific applet. Some applets like Audio Volume have it consistent with radio
buttons, Bluetooth one with the toggle.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an applet/widget containing round UI elements, such as "Audio Volume"
2. Set fractional scaling of the display (e.g. 125%)
3. Mesa around with the size of the applet and observe round elements

OBSERVED RESULT
The round UI elements, like radio buttons, toggles or sliders, are cut around
the edges and don't look like smooth circles. See attached screenshot and take
a close look at them.

EXPECTED RESULT
The round UI elements should render as smooth circles.

Widgets placed: Left - after reboot, Right - before reboot

SUMMARY
I am using a laptop with KDE Plasma 6.1.0 and use the Brightness and Color and
Battery Monitor widgets to monitor and modify device options like display
brightness, battery levels and more. After updating to 6.1.0, those widgets
have a serious problem. They do not load any information or options for the
devices after reboot. When creating a new widget, they load the information
correctly. In the provided screenshot on the left, you can see the widgets
placed after rebooting, and on the right before rebooting.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a Battery Monitor/Brightness and Color widget - it shows the correct
information and options
2. Reboot the system
3. Observe the created widget - it is in a broken state showing no information
about the devices
4. Create a new widget again - it shows the correct information and options

OBSERVED RESULT
The widgets do not show device specific information and options, like display
brightness or battery levels.

EXPECTED RESULT
The widgets should show the information and options for the specific devices
correctly.

Screenshot of Dolphin capturing the issue.

SUMMARY
Using Dolphin with any view mode and fractional display scale (125% or 175%)
renders folder and file icons blurry in the general view. It specifically
affects the file/folder view and doesn't affect other icons, like those in
places sidebar.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make sure to use Wayland and have 125% or 175% display scale.
2. Open dolphin.
3. Set zoom to 22px.
4. Observe blurry icons in the general file/folder view.

OBSERVED RESULT
Icons for folders and files in the file/folder view render blurred. You can
easily compare them with the places sidebar right next to the view, by setting
the icons in places sidebar to 22px as well. Also changing to non-fractional
display scale, like 150%, can make the difference clear.

EXPECTED RESULT
Icons render without blur, just like they should.

macOS: N/A
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 40

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- You can directly compare the icons in my provided screenshot (places sidebar
vs general view).
- I currently use Fedora Linux, but OpenSUSE Tumbleweed w/ KDE Plasma also had
the issue last time I used it.
