Thanks for all your troubles.

What we found out is that baloo, perhaps only with qt 6.7.1, crashes on *some*
png files. On my Arch Linux system...

I have to disable indexing the paperwork directory. Would be nice to have the
OCR'd text, which lies there in plain text files, in my KDE filesearch results,
but that obviously does not work at the moment.

I am not enough into C++/QT/KDE programming to go deeper into this.

Such things are possible, especially for me. :-)

I do not have "index hidden files" option checked.

Balooshow say the file is not indexed:
balooshow6 /home/peter/papers/20240603_1006_16/paper.1.png
2e18b8b2f2b7d27 791379239 48335755

> If you are indexing hidden files/folders, it is sensible to exclude the
> .cache and .local/shared/Trash folders as a follow-on step...
I have not enabled indexing hidden files and folder.

I have now purged my Baloo index an added "/home/peter/papers" as only indexed
folder, which caused zillions of crashes...

> I'll have a go at installing paperwork and exploring. Were you scanning or

I was scanning an A4 page.

Strange enough, all that..

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 487628] Baloo file indexer crashes on addition of new file

2024-06-03 Thread Peter Kreussel

> Do you mean that the file might have been "half written" (or something) and
> Baloo scanned it and crashed - but when the scan was finished, it was OK,
> according to pngcheck.
That's what is suspected.
But in fact, baloo crashes when I touch *one* of the two PNGs.

They are called "paper.1.png" (the one causing crash) and "paper.1.edited.png"
(no crash) and are identical in md5 sum, strangely enough.
Full path: /home/peter/papers/20240527_1641_38/paper.1.png

It must be a problem with the filename then?

I have no problem attaching a file except that they are 13 M in size an I
cannot attach them here.
I tried an image hoster, but the files are not identical after download, so
that is no use.

2024-06-02 Thread Peter Kreussel

According to pngcheck, all pngs are "OK" *after* the scan.

This has definitely not happened earlier. I changed nothing on my system except
updating qt6 in Arch Linux.
(
https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/qt6-base/-/commits/main
).

So probably not much KDE devs can do...
Thanks for looking at this, though.

Downgrading to qt5-base-5.15.2-5-x86_64 works for me, too. Automatic spell
checking also works for German Umlaute after that.

Seeing the same as Johnny, also on Arch Linux with Hunspell de_De.

In addition, I switched on debug reporting for sonnet core + sonnet hunspell,
which gave me:

kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell:  SpellerPlugin *HunspellClient::createSpeller(const
QString ) ; "de_DE"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: Loading dictionary for "de_DE" from
"/usr/share/hunspell"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: Load a user dictionary
"/home/peter/.hunspell_de_DE"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: Created 0x563e505be0a0
kf.sonnet.core: Using the "Hunspell" plugin for language "de_DE"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: isCorrect : "sfsdf"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: result : false
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: isCorrect : "sdfsdf"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: result : false
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: isCorrect : "d"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: result : true
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: isCorrect : "f"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: result : true
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: isCorrect : "g"
kf.sonnet.clients.hunspell: result : true

I.e.: I switched on auto spellcheck with the text "sfsdf sdfsdf" already typed.
Which got the red mark as expected. With auto spellcheck on I typed "dfg",
which did not get marked as wrong.

If I interpret correctly, hunspell checked every single letter separately
instead of the whole word "dfg", thus getting the result "isCorrect".

I remember that some time ago (sorry, cannot say exactly when) German Umlaute
caused the problem that all letters behind them were always marked as wrong.
Later (very probably as Johnny described after
"qt5-base-5.15.2+kde+r171-2-x86_64" this changed to spellcheck on typing not
working any more.

So, word segmentation broke and was "fixed"?

Software versions:

[krunner] [Bug 374541] New: Krunner segfaulting after selecting result + pressing Enter

2017-01-04 Thread Peter Kreussel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374541

Bug ID: 374541
Summary: Krunner segfaulting after selecting result + pressing
Enter
   Product: krunner
   Version: 5.8.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: pri...@peter-kreussel.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: krunner (5.8.5)

Qt Version: 5.7.1
Frameworks Version: 5.29.0
Operating System: Linux 4.8.13-1-ARCH x86_64
Distribution: "Arch Linux"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
--opening Krunner with Alt+Space
--typing "kwr"
--selecting result "KWrite", pressing Enter

I am using Nvidia 375.26.
This has been happening for quite a while (= different versions of
plasma-framwork on Arch Linux). Not very often, but Krunner does not restart,
which makes this a bit of a bother.

-- Backtrace:
Application: krunner (krunner), signal: Segmentation fault
Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1".
