I've seen this bug for at least the past two or three years I've been using
Kubuntu. Michael Murphy's workaround (comment #12) works until this bug is
fixed. Dolphin can't find anything with desktop search enabled (which is ironic
but I'm guessing they use different backends).

On Startup and Shutdown, I changed the wallpaper to use for the startup/login
screen. However, the change doesn't hold. On reboot, it's back to that rainbow
picture that came with the OS.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. change background image for login screen under Startup and Shutdown
2. reboot
3. observe that no change took place

Fixed in 2013? It's back in 16.04. Has happed to me a few times already on 2
different machines.
