Yahoo's quoting service is no longer available
(https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeyb7xMtZFjoNYI7XG1rjlhUopKAxdLAfSRcaPxg9p-9ii-_g/viewform).
With AMFI providing a CSV file and India's 10 crore mutual fund investors,
please consider adding out-of-the-box quote retrieval based on ISIN code.

[kmymoney] [Bug 479678] New: Price importer for multiple securities

2024-01-11 Thread Suresh PB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479678

Bug ID: 479678
Summary: Price importer for multiple securities
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: importer
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: spill...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***
While KMyMoney currently supports price imports for individual securities using
CSV files, enabling batch updates for multiple securities through scripts would
significantly streamline the process.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. File->Import->Price
2. Provide CSV file
3. Select the security

OBSERVED RESULT
Only single security can be imported using a file at a time

EXPECTED RESULT
I strongly recommend that KMyMoney implement batch price updates for multiple
securities, ideally through script-based imports. This would be a major
improvement for users who need to manage diverse investment portfolios.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 11
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 38
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Now Yahoo no longer provide price update api, so manual update of the
securities price is essential. This feature would help upload the price for
multiple securities at one go! Stop wasting time on manual updates. Import
prices for all your holdings in a flash.

[kmymoney] [Bug 457337] Allow to auto-update category based on Payee

2022-07-31 Thread Suresh PB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457337

Are you asking to automatically assign the category for a new transaction to
the default category for the payee for that transactions? That is how it
works now. Is it not working for you?
[Response] Yes, this is working fine. Bank statements generally does not match
the payee, so this feature is not purposed most.

Are you asking to set the category for old transactions with missing categories
where the payee has a default category? There are probably multiple ways to
filter the ledger to find those those transactions (at least within a single
account) and then edit them all to set the category. I know that doesn't
currently work in master, but enabling editing multiple transactions is being
worked on.
[Response] Facility to automatic assignment for "UNCATEGORIZED" transactions
with default is useful. Most bank transactions contain random numbers along
with some standard text. Using the standard text, I map the payee and
category. Due to its combination of standard text and dynamic number, import
does not facilitate automatic mapping. When a menu option is provided, on
demand based on payee, default category can be assigned.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for clarifying.

When Payee is setup for Default Category, allow auto-update of category.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Payee and define Default category
2. In the Ledger, if the category is unassigned, default automatically.
3.

When Payee is set with default category, provide ability to autopopulate the

Reference is to savings account, the term "Credit" refers to "Deposit". I was
using generic accounting terms. This is not a credit card related transaction.

Manual entries does not trigger consistency check. I tried again, it appears
that when import data has category, this error occur on saving the file.

This is import of csv.

Yes, you are correct. This is "option type" transaction where selling is
allowed. I don't agree about considering transaction dates in chronological
order of "Buy" and "Sell" in Capital gains report. The fix is required only in
Capital Gains report, otherwise product works perfectly fine.

A workaround

Create a price file for multiple stocks/mutual funds mention as unit 1 and

Delete the dummy entries.

The proposed feature can be for past, current and future. I suggest we display
total "Income" and "Expenses" for the period depending on the view.
Additionally "More..." can be displayed as URL to view specific details.
