[plasmashell] [Bug 368660] Wireless and aeroplane mode Oxygen icons missing in plasma-nm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368660 --- Comment #49 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to pinheiro from comment #48) > Dainius Masiliūnas yes and i agree the green icon looks better there, maybe > the best thing is kist to remove the plasma svg file with those 2 icons and > see if it looks better with standard oxygen icons... If you remove the file view.svgz completely, Plasma will use the one from the Breeze desktop theme instead, i.e. will use the Breeze icons in those cases. See comment#12 for Plasma's behavior in my experience. Can't you just put back the "view-history" icon from the previous git version? And the green icon (for "view-refresh") apparently is not in the Oxygen icon theme (at least not with the proper name), otherwise it would have been used before. Strange enough, I do see it in openSUSE's oxygen5-icon-theme package though... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368660 --- Comment #45 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to pinheiro from comment #44) > So if an svg plasma theme file contains a oxygen icon source that is bad > and probably wont work well. i would much rather prefer that Kickoff looks > for the oxygne png files in the size it wants, than trying to use an svg > file. Ok. But the point is that Plasma (and Kickoff therefore) does prefer to use the SVG icons from the desktop theme currently, and only falls back to the icon theme if they do not exist. And this results in a mixture of styles now. But whatever. This is out of scope of this bug report anyway. The missing plasma-nm icons are there now, thank you very much again for adding them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 368660] Wireless and aeroplane mode Oxygen icons missing in plasma-nm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368660 --- Comment #43 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to pinheiro from comment #42) > Wolfgang Bauer, you are absolutely right, looks horrible there not > exactly my fault, the air icons are supposed to be minimalist wen > applications mix oxygen icons in plasma are things can go wrong. Like an svg > that is part of plasma theme having oxygen icons that cant even be well > rendered by QT-SVG. I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing here. The new SVG is rendered fine, but as I understand it, those minimalist/monochromic icons are only to be used in the system tray, aren't they? But view-history is used by the application launcher, and the other icons are colorful as can be seen in my screenshot (exactly like they were in KDE4). That's the only thing I mean here. If Kickoff looks "horrible" to you, it may be because of bug#365204, in short some of the icons are "broken" currently and Plasma falls back to the icon theme then. Should not be a problem if you use the "Oxygen" icon theme though (that's what I did in my screenshot). My doubt is whether it's a good idea to replace view-history with a simplicistic version though instead of just keeping the old one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kile] [Bug 328712] adding build tool destroys menu layout
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328712 --- Comment #9 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Nico Kruber from comment #8) > Hi Wolfgang, I tried deleting ~/.kde4/share/apps/kile/kileui.rc but this > does not change the behaviour I observe: whenever I use the package from > KDE:Extra (openSUSE 13.2, x86_64), the changed shortcut is written to this > file but apparently not read during startup. Hm, the thing is that it works fine here, and I am on 13.2 (with kile from KDE:Extra too). The (probably) only difference here is that I use the latest kdelibs4 (4.14.24), I will try with the standard one in 13.2 on Sunday or Monday. I originally tried with Ctrl+M though, as Ctrl+B is already defined for something else ("Add to bookmarks" from the standard KDE shortcuts). With my old kileui.rc and kilerc I get a warning when trying to set that shortcut (if I choose OK, it works fine though, also on next start). With those files removed I don't get that dialog immediately for some reason, but when I press Ctrl+B I get an error dialog saying that no action will be taken because the shortcut is ambiguous. Maybe that's related to your problem, maybe that dialog just doesn't show up for some reason but the shortcut is silently re-assigned because of a conflict? That's just guessing though. Anyway, can you please try with e.g. Ctrl+M too? > I can send you the whole file but since the newly (automatically) created > file also shows this, here's the interesting part after changing the > shortcut: It looks exactly the same here (but it works). Can you please attach the whole file? I would like to see if I can reproduce it with your file. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

But I saw that you changed "view-history" as well. I'm not sure that's a good idea, as this is used by Kickoff (the application launcher) as icon for the "History" tab (and only for that AFAICS). It looks a bit out of place now with the other Oxygen icons I fear, see attached screenshot. Unless you plan to rework those too of course. But then, I think many people that use Air/Oxygen prefer it over Breeze/Breeze-dark because of the more colorful icons... Although, in the end it's your decision of course. I just wanted to mention it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

What about Oxygen? Oxygen should get them "automatically". It has no icons itself, the Air icons are installed to the Oxygen theme as well. AFAICS, the "network-flightmode-on/off" (airplane) icons are still missing though. And "view-refresh" that is in view.svgz in Breeze, see comment#31. FTR, I am the one that added it to the openSUSE packages, I just submitted it to Leap 42.2, and plan to do an update for 13.2 and 42.1 too. So I'm really interested if there is indeed a problem with it. [plasmashell] [Bug 368660] Wireless and aeroplane mode Oxygen icons missing in plasma-nm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368660 --- Comment #24 from Wolfgang Bauer --- Actually they were provided by the KDE4 plasma-nm itself, as I already wrote. And I repeat, it should not be difficult to take them from there (they were designed for Air anyway which was the default in KDE4), and add them to the Plasma5/plasma-framework Oxygen/Air desktop themes. I suppose I will try to do that myself, if/when I find the time (maybe next weekend?). I haven't checked if the KDE4 icons are 100% complete in regards to Plasma5 (there may have been some additions), but it would definitely be an improvement. Btw, a fresh install of Leap would use breeze by default, so that's maybe why you saw them... ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Known problem, see bug#366299. > Why window size is hardcoded? I even can't resize it :( The window size is not "hardcoded" at all, and it depends on the options that are actually supported by your hardware. IMHO, the bug seems to be that kcmshell5 tries to make the window large enough so that all options fit into the window, and doesn't take the screen size into account. You can resize the window though, right-click on the title bar or the task manager entry and choose "More Actions"->Resize, or double-click on the title bar to maximize it. You can also move the window by holding Alt and clicking/dragging anywhere on the window. Or just open the "Power Management" settings in "System Settings", this doesn't suffer from the size problem. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 366299 *** -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[ksmserver] [Bug 354097] Session management broken when using several virtual desktops
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354097 --- Comment #8 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Frank from comment #7) > With 5.7.5 in the meantime the issue appears to get "better", eg not all > programs that used to be are now dumped on the first desktop. But some still > are. And which applications exactly? The problem with kwin not saving/restoring window attributes (like position and virtual desktop) has been fixed over a year ago, see bug#341930. But the applications need to set certain attributes correctly for this to work. And in particular Qt5 didn't do that (so it still didn't work for KF5/Qt5 based applications), this should be fixed to in 5.6 at least. > And this bug or the duplicates of it are still not marked confirmed Which "duplicates" are you talking about in particular? bug#354724 is fixed, bug#338578 is 2 years old and nobody apparently looked at it since then. AFAICT, it is fixed though (and actually a duplicate of bug# ) > I guess the lession is don't even try to use a kde version that is not at > least 5 years in full production use by the major distributions. 8-( If you think such a comment is helpful at all, then you're wrong. Btw, openSUSE did backport all necessary fixes to previous versions months ago, and it works fine here since then AFAICT. Also, all of the problems should be fixed in current versions of Plasma, KDE Frameworks and Qt5 as mentioned. But if an application does something wrong, there's not much the desktop can do about it either. Just as a side note, GNOME doesn't restart applications on login at all by default. You can enable it with some "hidden" dconf setting, but it still won't work with GTK applications, as they don't support the current (introduced in 1993!) session management protocol, and GNOME dropped support for the older one 10 years ago. Funny enough, KDE/Qt applications do get restored correctly (now) in GNOME as well. Apparently session management is just not considered that important any more nowadays... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[ksmserver] [Bug 365237] session not saved/restored upon logout/login
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365237 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Simon Oosthoek from comment #0) > I expect konsole firefox and thunderbird to be started when I log in, after > I logged out with these specific applications open. Works fine here, so it's likely not a general bug in ksmserver. Firefox and Thunderbird are GTK applications though. Support for the legacy session management protocol (which has been superseeded/deprecated in 1993!) had been removed from ksmserver in 5.6, but as it turned out, GTK only supports this so this broke restoring GTK applications completely (it's the same in GNOME btw). See bug#362671 . Judging from the date when you filed this report, you did use 5.6.x., so this would explain it for Firefox and Thunderbird. Should be fixed since Plasma/ksmserver 5.7, as support for the legacy protocol has been restored. Konsole on the other hand is a KF5 application, and should be restored fine, since KDE Frameworks 5.20.0 and Qt 5.6.0 at least (which you likely had I suppose as you are using Neon). There was/is a bug in Konsole though that causes it to crash on startup/session restore if the stored current directory doesn't exist. See bug#365413. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363876 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Bauer --- If it works fine with other applications, it's likely not a bug in ksmserver, but rather in the application. What version of konversation are you using? If it's the KF5 port (1.6.x), this is likely a duplicate of bug#354724. In short, there was a general problem with KF5/Qt5 based applications not being restarted because of a bug/wrong behavior in Qt, which caused the applications to quit too early on logout so ksmserver didn't see them as running any more. One "bug" I still noticed: The default calendar was still disabled in KOrganizer on a fresh user account, I had to enable it manually. [Oxygen] [Bug 368660] Wireless and aeroplane mode Oxygen icons missing in plasma-nm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368660 --- Comment #12 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Dainius Masiliūnas from comment #11) > If the icon is there in the icon theme, then it might be a Plasma or > plasma-nm issue. It's not in the icon theme either. plasma-nm uses network-flightmode-on/network-flightmode-off and network-wireless-on/network-wireless-off as icons for the two mentioned buttons. I can find neither of those in the breeze nor oxygen icon themes... > The network.svgz file itself is provided by > plasma-framework, hm. Yes, this is part of the *desktop* theme. Plasma's behavior is as follows according to my experience: First, it tries to load the icon from network.svgz (in this case) from the configured *desktop* theme. If network.svgz does not exist, it uses network.svgz from the default *desktop* theme (breeze) instead. If network.svgz does exist but doesn't contain that specific icon, it tries to load it from the *icon* theme instead. So in this case, the icon should also be found if it was part of the icon theme, but it isn't either. The main problem is that the Air and Oxygen desktop themes haven't been updated/adjusted to changes in other parts of Plasma (and plasma-nm), they are incomplete. network.svgz was missing completely from those themes for a while, which would make it work. IOW, if you delete network.svgz, the icon would show up, taken from breeze. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367993 --- Comment #3 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Nicola Mori from comment #2) > Thanks Wolfgang, I trust your word but I see a little incoherence here. The > bug report 366368 is about non-working effects in 16.04.03 True, I have to admit that I didn't notice when I marked this as duplicate. But it doesn't necessary mean that the reporter actually used 16.04.3. 16.08.0 is not selectable in the "Version" chooser here. And the reporter only explicitly stated that this problem exists since 5.7.2, which is the Plasma version. I have no idea which konsole version really was in the "Neon packages" on the 3rd of August either, and there even are different flavors of Neon (User's edition and Developer's edition). > So > is my report really a duplicate of 366368, or in other words, will the fix > for 366368 work also for me? Thanks. Well, the issue reported does sound exactly the same. And looking at the fix, it only changes/reworks things that actually got introduced in 16.08.0 in the first place (when konsole was ported away from kdelibs4support). So I definitely do think so, yes. [konsole] [Bug 367006] Konsole doesn't show crash dialog when it crashes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367006 --- Comment #3 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Kurt Hindenburg from comment #1) > OK thanks, that's news to me - I didn't realize something had changed that > required every app to call that now. kdelibs4support takes care of it, but that's not used any more in konsole 16.08... AFAIK it is not even necessary to call KCrash::initialize() at all, just *linking* to KCrash should enable the crash dialog. But cmake or the linker may optimize that out, so KCrash::initialize() was added in Frameworks 5.15 to be able to make sure KCrash is linked in by calling that. See https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/126868/ and the links to the mailinglist discussion mentioned there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 367737] restoring session adds an extra konsole window and doesn't always respect windows placement
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367737 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Bauer --- The extra konsole window has already been reported as bug#367447. The window placement and cd paths on session restoration seem to work fine here (I don't leave 6 konsole windows open though), but that extra window does interfere/break it, as it basically is a "duplicate" of another window. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[konsole] [Bug 367672] removed --nofork option with apps 16.08.0
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367672 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added Summary|removed --nofork and -c |removed --nofork option |option with apps 16.08.0|with apps 16.08.0 CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #2 from Wolfgang Bauer --- Konsole never had a -c option AFAICT. In your example, -c is actually an option for bash. Konsole 16.08 (using QCommandLineParser) incorrectly treats it as an (unknown) option for konsole now though, instead of ignoring the arguments after -e and passing them to the command that is to be run (bash). See bug#366793. --nofork has indeed been "removed" in 16.08. I have no idea whether this is on purpose or by mistake, nor whether --nofork even still makes sense with KF5/Qt5. What I can say though is that this is also related to the switch to QCommandLineParser. The --nofork option was not konsole specific, but provided by kdelibs4's KCmdLineArgs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Wrong. It does not try to connect to anywhere at all. It fails to run konsole (because of a regression in konsole 16.08.0) and then endlessly waits for konsole closing. See also bug#366792 Will be workarounded with the next plasma5-workspace update in Tumbleweed. You can fix it yourself by downgrading konsole to 16.04.3 or before (which didn't have this problem), or change /usr/bin/installdbgsymbols.sh to use xterm instead of konsole. [konsole] [Bug 366793] Regression in Konsole's handling of command line parameters
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366793 --- Comment #6 from Wolfgang Bauer --- Yes, for SSH ktelnetservice5 runs "konsole --noclose -e ssh -l username host -p port" (if a username or port is not specified, the corresponding option is omitted), So this is indeed likely the same issue. ktelnetservice5 does take the default terminal application from systemsettings though, so you could also change that to xterm as work-around. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[konsole] [Bug 367447] Having one konsole window open at logout opens two at next login

Indeed, I can confirm that. So even easier to reproduce... ;-) The problem does occur on a fresh user account (with a completely empty home directory) too. The message about "Attempted to re-run an already running session." seems to be unrelated though, this is also displayed when I run the KDE4 version with "--session xxx" (which only opens one window as it should). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 367074] mouse single/double-click preferences not propagated to kde4 applications
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367074 --- Comment #5 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to nicholas from comment #4) > would it > not be better to remove duplicated settings options? Well, it's actually the KDE4-based dolphin that offers this setting (Konqueror uses an embedded dolphin for file-browsing and also embeds dolphin's settings into its config dialog). It has been removed in the KF5 version of dolphin released a year ago (15.08), because it is a desktop-wide setting and not specific to dolphin (it wouldn't even be respected if you run dolphin in a different desktop IIANM). So it would even be better to port Konqueror to KF5, I'd say, which would use the latest KF5 based dolphin. And this has happened already anyway, 16.12.0 (i.e. the next feature release, as 16.08.0 is being released today) will include the KF5 based Konqueror AFAIK which then will also use the KF5 settings of course. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 354618] Most color-schemes from kde.org don't work with qt4-applications
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354618 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #2 from Wolfgang Bauer --- AFAICT, the problem seems to occur when the file name doesn't match the colorscheme name. E.g. the colorscheme "Arc Dark" installs a file "Ark Dark.colors", this will be successfully migrated to KDE4. "Diokai" OTOH installs "173965-Diokai.colors", the migration fails because kcm_colors tries to copy "Diokai.colors". In other words, the file name has to be the same as the colorscheme name (that's specified inside the .colors file) + ".colors" for this to work, if it is different it fails. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[konsole] [Bug 367447] Having one konsole window open at logout opens two at next login

[konsole] [Bug 367447] New: Having one konsole window open at logout opens two at next login
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367447 Bug ID: 367447 Summary: Having one konsole window open at logout opens two at next login Product: konsole Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: wba...@tmo.at If I leave a konsole window open at logout (with session management configured to "Restart the previous session"), I get two konsole windows at next login. What's even more strange, they seem to be "clones", if I type something in the one window, the text also appears in the other window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open konsole 2. Logout with konsole open 3. login again Actual Results: Two konsole windows appear. Expected Results: Only one konsole window should appear. This is a regression in 16.08.0, it worked fine with 15.04.3. Also, it only happens with konsole, other applications are not affected. So it's unlikely to be a problem with ksmserver, which I haven't updated anyway. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367074 --- Comment #2 from Wolfgang Bauer --- (In reply to Wolfgang Bauer from comment #1) > So it seems the KDE4 settings are saved inverted. [systemsettings] [Bug 367074] mouse single/double-click preferences not propagated to kde4 applications
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367074 Wolfgang Bauer changed: What|Removed |Added CC||wba...@tmo.at --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Bauer --- I can confirm this with 5.7.3 (Framework 5.25.0, Qt 5.7.0) on openSUSE 13.2. But it's not that it isn't propagated to the KDE4 settings. What I noticed: - open systemsettings5->Input Devices->Mouse, change to double-click and press Apply ~/.config/kdeglobals contains SingleClick=false as expected, but ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals still has SingleClick=true - switch back to single-click and press Apply ~/.config/kdeglobals now contains SingleClick=true again (as it should), but ~/.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals now has been changed to SingleClick=false...
