[kde] [Bug 488912] New: Closing networks tab when hovering over the aeroplane mode toggle will make textbox/prompt persist on top of the systems tray icons

2024-06-21 Thread ambioid
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488912

Bug ID: 488912
Summary: Closing networks tab when hovering over the aeroplane
mode toggle will make textbox/prompt persist on top of
the systems tray icons
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: thepixelb...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 170768
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=170768=edit
Networks tab is open, mouse is hovering over aeroplane mode toggle

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Normal/default setup on KDE 6.1
2. Have mouse hover over aeroplane mode toggle in the networks tab from the
systems tray.
3. Close the tab by pressing escape, or tapping somewhere else through the
touch screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
The "Enable Aeroplane Mode" text will persist on top of the systems tray icons
- This also happens with the "Show additional options for speakers" in the
volume tab
- Or "Invoke Actions" in the clipbord tab
- etc

EXPECTED RESULT
It is expected that this text box no longer exists when the tab is closed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
At first I thought this didn't happen with other tabs but it seem to be an
issue in multiple of them, but not for all text boxes. Maybe they are
implemented differently?
This is an issue that I primarily encountered because I was using a
touchscreen, after tapping an option then tapping off the text persists. I
think more changes in the interface that make touchscreen friendlier would also
be useful (E.G. Making the "Enable Aeroplane Mode" text disappear after a few
seconds even when the networks tab is open)

Pressed enter and it turns out that submits it, I didn't finish writing the
report ;-;

SUMMARY
Unsure what exactly triggers this problem, but when a file has long name and/or
multiple file extensions/dots in the name (or maybe multiple spaces)? It can
cause glitched text that appears outside of the file's allocated space on the
screen. This glitched text appears unreliably when switching windows, and when
switching folders WITHIN dolphin, the glitched text persists until refreshed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a file with a long name like
NTUSER.DAT{c18d6107-b171-11ed-a3b5-c85b76b75115}.TM.blf be displayed within
dolphin (This is the actual file name of a file I saw in dolphin while
searching through a windows partition)
2. There will be glitchy text that persists even if changing into another
folder
3. It goes away with refreshed

OBSERVED RESULT
Glitchy text appears, below the actual bounds of where the file name should be.
This glitchy text is out of bounds and persists on the screen when switching
folders, even if the original file is no longer on screen. The text can also
become blackened and incorrectly colored.

EXPECTED RESULT
It is expected that text does NOT appear out of bounds of the file name, and
does NOT persist even when folder changes

There already exists settings to change the scroll direction on a touchpad in
