Hi!
Could you be more specific on wich steps should be performed in order to
reproduce this bug? For example, give the name of two or more applications
where we can see this behaviour, How many lines of text were you trying to
copy, etc.

I asking you for this information because I'm not experiencing this issue, so I
need help to nail it down.
Cheers.

I'm afraid Plasma 5.24.5 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or
maintenance from KDE.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27.11 as soon as your distro offers it to
you. If you need support for Plasma 5.24.5, please contact your distro, who
bears the responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS releases.
If this issue is still reproducible in either Plasma 5.27.11 (the current LTS
version) or Plasma 6.0.05 (the latest released version), feel free to re-open
this bug report.
Thanks for understanding!

Hello, Fushan. How are you?

You stated that: "I can still reproduce with today's nuke build, but possibly
only on X11."

That "possibly" of yours raised some doubts:
1. Are you able to reproduce this misbehavior in X11 100% of the time?
2. Have you tried it on Wayland?
3. Could you try to reproduce it on Wayland?

Cheers.

Hello.
I've checked the mentioned "bug", and found out that a small piece of
configuration might be missing on the user side.

In Yakuake Configuration -> Window, under the "Tab Bar" section, the checkbox
"Show title bar contents in tab labels" should be marked.
After doing that, the tab renaming sugested by the OP will work as expected.

I've had the exact same problem as the OP, in a recent KDE release.
Below there is a the output of journalctl, when the error happens. The details
are below.

It looks like we had more than enough reports for this issue to be marked as
Confirmed.

SUMMARY
As soon as I boot the computer, the Activities are not working on a isolate
manner. When I switch activity, the desktop wallpaper changes, but the windows
follow along. For example, if I have a window opened in activity A, and I
switch to activity B, the window is still presented in the other activity.
Also, in the context menu for the window title bar (right click on title bar)
the option "Show in Activities" is missing.

As a workaround I've to log out/ log in or restart kwin.
When that error happens, I can get the following log from joernalctl -f (the
error is on the last line):

❯ journalctl -f

(Subtract)

It doesn't happen all the time, so I'm still unable to determine what is the
probable cause of it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Cold boot the system, and login normally.
2. Have at least two activities set up.
3. Open any window
4. Switch activity (using activity switcher, keyboard shortcut, or any other
way)

OBSERVED RESULT
The wallpaper changes (if they are setup per activity) , the activity switcher
(if enabled) indicates that the activity changed, but the windows get carried
along. As if the window was set up to show in all activities.
Also, the window title bar "Show in activities" context menu is not displayed.

EXPECTED RESULT
The window is only displayed in it's original activity, and the windows title
bar context menu "Show in activities" item is available.

I'm afraid Plasma 5.18 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or
maintenance from KDE.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one. Please update to Plasma 5.24 as soon as your distro offers it to you.
If you need support for Plasma 5.18, please contact your distro, who bears the
responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS releases.
If this issue is still reproducible in either Plasma 5.24 (the current LTS
version) or Plasma 5.27 (the latest released version), feel free to re-open
this bug report.
Thanks for understanding!

[kwin] [Bug 473216] New: Activities stop working after reboot

2023-08-09 Thread joelsonejr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473216

Bug ID: 473216
Summary: Activities stop working after reboot
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.27
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: activities
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: joelson@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

❯ journalctl -f

sequence: 40781, resource id: 16784681, major code: 143 (DAMAGE), minor code: 3

Hi, I think that it was a misunderstanding. So let me rephrase what I wrote.

I followed the steps provided by the OP, and the reported misbehavior didn't
happen. The system is working as expected.
I even performed the test using Fade and Slide animations, but the results were
the same.

Just to make sure that it isn't hardware related (on my side), I also tested on
a virtual Machine, using the same KDE version and the results were the same.

Is based on the results of those tests, that I'm saying that the error isn't
happening on KDE 5.27.6.

I hope that this explanation is clearer than the previous one. =)
