[plasmashell] [Bug 474325] KDE freezes complete on process plasmashell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474325 --- Comment #3 from lsmod --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Do you have the plasma-browser-integration plugin enabled in Firefox? If so, > can you try disabling it and seeing if that helps? No - this plugin is not installed. As already written this bug is not related to Firefox only. Yesterday KDE freezes within another application, but Firefox did have 100% CPU usage as application in the background. KDE seems always to freeze when using the mouse clicking some action. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 474325] New: KDE freezes complete on process plasmashell
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474325 Bug ID: 474325 Summary: KDE freezes complete on process plasmashell Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.27.5 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: generic-crash Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: forum+...@home.decotrain.de Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Please refer additional to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1041044 (The bug is not related to Mozilla Firefox, but it occurs most often using it.) It seems that webpages with intense graphics can cause the system freeze. But there are other events where the system freezes obvious in other applications. it is possible to login remote from another PC, so the kernel and OS is still alive. Requesting a kill of a process or a shutdown does not work - a hard reset of the PC is needed. In many cases the process plasmashell is going into 100% cpu usage. When another process is going into 100% cpu usage (like Firefox) and it is killed, then plasmashell goes into 100% cpu usage. There is another PC running Debian 12 that has sometimes the same freeze problem, so it is not a hardware problem. Any tips how to debug this would be helpful and will be reported. STEPS TO REPRODUCE It is a big problem that there is no specific application or reproductive steps to freeze the system. The best way is to use Firefox with intense graphic sites, like windy.com, starting a video of the wheather situation for 2 hours. Avoiding such use cases the system runs stable without freeze. 1. Start Firefox and call a heavy duty webpage 2. KDE suddenly freezes including the mouse pointer 3. System does not react on anything, but a remote-login via ssh is possible 4. Hard reset needed. OBSERVED RESULT System freezes suddenly. EXPECTED RESULT No freeze like in Debian 11 SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 12 (bookworm) stable Kernel 6.1.0-11-amd64 (64-bit) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Did not occure in previous versions (KDE Plasma Version 5.20.5) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Kamera] [Bug 474324] New: PTP file copy with kio_kamera.so looses contact to a camera
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474324 Bug ID: 474324 Summary: PTP file copy with kio_kamera.so looses contact to a camera Classification: Applications Product: Kamera Version: 22.12.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Reporter: forum+...@home.decotrain.de Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 161520 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161520&action=edit Screenshot of error message SUMMARY Trying to copy pictures and video via PTP from a camera does not work any more. Booting of an older Debian 8 is needed and there it works without problem. Running in Debian 12 (bookworm) is showing this process: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kf5/kioslave5 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/kio_kamera.so camera local:/run/user/1000/krusaderLhqZlb.10.kioworker.socket Some pictures are maybe copied and then the copy goes into hold. Afterwards a try to reconnect to the camera shows up error 150 (screenshot) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect camera with PTP 2. Open Dolphin, select directory or files 3. Start copy OBSERVED RESULT Copy holded after some smaller files. Reconnect to the camera brings Error 150 (wrong parameter). After camera is switched off and reconnected the same result occurs. EXPECTED RESULT All files are copied without a problem. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 12 (bookworm) stable Kernel 6.1.0-11-amd64 (64-bit) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Works already unstable in Debian 11. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 405496] Installation of KDE5 immovable
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405496 --- Comment #14 from lsmod --- At this time working with Debian 11 (bullseye), that is using KDE-Plasma-Version: 5.20.5 KDE-Frameworks-Version: 5.78.0 Qt-Version: 5.15.2 Kernel-Version: 5.10.0-22-amd64 Here it seems to be possible again to pack and move an installation. Betriebssystem: Debian GNU/Linux 11 KDE-Plasma-Version: 5.20.5 KDE-Frameworks-Version: 5.78.0 Qt-Version: 5.15.2 Kernel-Version: 5.10.0-8-amd64 Art des Betriebssystems: 64-bit -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krusader] [Bug 442504] Krusader opens no window with file transfer informations in KDE
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442504 --- Comment #2 from lsmod --- Yes - thank you - this works. In the german translation it is named: Fortschritt der Anwendung -> In Fensterleiste anzeigen & In Benachrichtigungen anzeigen So there is nothing in the sense "Keep popup open during progress". That's the reason why it could not be found. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krusader] [Bug 442504] New: Krusader opens no window with file transfer informations in KDE
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442504 Bug ID: 442504 Summary: Krusader opens no window with file transfer informations in KDE Product: krusader Version: 2.7.2 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: forum+...@home.decotrain.de CC: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Please refer to the bug at Debian, that has not been answered so far. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=994230 Since Debian 11 (Bullseye) the Krusader version 2.7.2 "Peace of Mind", as well as a new service for notifications in KDE is standard. There is no option for file operations in the notifications and the Krusader does not appear among the applications there either. In Krusader itself there is no option for the copy / move window. This means that important details such as the current transfer speed and remaining copy time are omitted. There is only a basic progress indicator with not details what is happening. Using XFCE the additional window opens, so this is an issue of KDE. How the copy window can be reactivated? STEPS TO REPRODUCE Copy or move one or more files. OBSERVED RESULT Only a progress indicator is shown in the icon bar and the task icon. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=1;bug=994230;filename=Krusader.png;msg=5 EXPECTED RESULT A separate window opens with current file transfer informations. [krusader] [Bug 426438] New: Krusader not able for multitasking anymore
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426438 Bug ID: 426438 Summary: Krusader not able for multitasking anymore Product: krusader Version: 2.7.1 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: disk-usage Assignee: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: forum+...@home.decotrain.de CC: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- It is not possible to work with krusader when a copy is in process. I am using now Debian 10 and before in Debian 8 everything worked fine. Before it was possible to make a large copy and to delete files in another tab. There was an easy way to select files for a copy and to put them in a task list. This all has gone. Deleting small files take much time and you must wait for it - why? The krusader is opening the copy window in the background and you have to get it in the foreground now manually - why? This features where very handy and i can't see new features that makes it easier to work with the krusader. Krusader is a very great tool - please don't make a less usable tool out of it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 405601] Window is disappearing to lower screen border when moved to second monitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405601 --- Comment #4 from lsmod --- The left screen edge is no problem, but you pointed me to the reason of the problem! I am using an additional control panel to arrange my main applications. So i have the standard control panel on the left side an the additional control panel with my start icons on the right side. It is the right border of the left monitor! So when i move an window over this right control panel the window goes down to the bottom. When i place the right control panel to the top of the screen i can move any window to the right monitor without any problem. Now we know where to search for the problem. In KDE 4 this was no problem, but in KDE 5 there can't be an control panel between the two monitor screens. Thanks for your help to find the problem! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

For me this problem is a show stopper to use KDE 5. So I am still working with KDE 4. Please refer to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=910494 The Product and Component is only a guess. Please move this problem to the correct one if it is wrong here. Thanks. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect a second monitor that is configured to be right of the left one. 2. Move a window from the left monitor to the right monitor. OBSERVED RESULT Windows is going down to the lower border at a certain point. You can't move it up and work with it. EXPECTED RESULT Normal window behaviour as in KDE 4 - it is working there on the same machine. The problem is happening in Debian 9 (stretch). When i use XFCE instead there is no problem, so it is related only to KDE 5. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Please refer to the Debian bug. This was working very comfortable and stable. Now in KDE 5 this seems not possible any more! In 3 cases after the unpacking i ended in an black empty screen with only the mouse cursor that can be moved on it. I have no idea why the rest is missing and how to debug this? The last fatal try was to move an running installation on my PC from the hard-disk to the SSD on the same PC. Booting from SSD is working, but after the login there is only the blank black screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Boot an Knoppix or another Linux 2. Pack / Backup the running installation in the mounted partition with tar cvfz. 3. Unpack the tar.gz on another hardisk or PC 4. Make the needed adjustment of the fstab to the new UUID, and grub.cfg etc. 5. Boot and start the copied installation OBSERVED RESULT Vopied installation ends up with an blank black screen only the mouse working. EXPECTED RESULT Copy is working perfect without limits.
