If that is the case then "something" must have removed it because prior to the
update everything worked as it should and had had no reason ever to remove any
widget whatsoever or even fidget with any of my settings.

[systemsettings] [Bug 431691] New: Configurations wiped off upon theme change

2021-01-16 Thread nbgyan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431691

Bug ID: 431691
Summary: Configurations wiped off upon theme change
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: nanabaahg...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Selecting 'Use desktop layout from theme' from Global theme change wipes other
configuration files including those of some widgets installed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to Global Theme to change theme
2. Select Use desktop layout from theme

OBSERVED RESULT
Other desktop configurations settings are lost. For instance, in my case, after
the theme change, my Sticky Notes widget had gone together with the notes I had
on it. Notes were not restored after adding the widget back.

EXPECTED RESULT
I think the warning note that appears on top on the checkbox when selected is
not severe enough and should be properly worded. It's not only 'desktop layout'
that is changed. Users should be prompted that certain configuration files
could be lost as well, as the action, more or less, resets the desktop.

Tried in vain to do this with gdb but I realised that the issue is with the
background parser only when I tried setting up an imported project like
plasma-discover for development on my workstation.

After using kdesrc-build to fetch discover and trying to import the project
into kdevelop from CMakelist.txt it works fine. And then it crashes because the
background parser stalls at some point. This does not happen if, say, I start a
new project from scratch. I hope this helps.

[i18n] [Bug 431322] New: Different localizations for different setups

2021-01-08 Thread nbgyan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431322

Bug ID: 431322
Summary: Different localizations for different setups
   Product: i18n
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aa...@kde.org
  Reporter: nanabaahg...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

ak_GH localization does not show up at all to configure on my desktop but twice
on virtual installations it shows automatically with the dates, week names,
etc. I suspect it is picked up during installation when I select my country of
residence, Ghana.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up a virtual installation from any of the KDE ISOs publicly available.
2. Run installation and select Accra/Africa for timezone.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dates and weekdays, etc. are properly configured and localized.
In the normal (non-virtualized) install, it is not possible to localize the
setup with the ak_GH localization.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be possible to localize the dates after installation.

Perhaps the suspected bug I'm trying to report is a little different from this.
I tried installing the ak_GH locale but could not find it in the regional
setting (under Regional Settings -> Language). But when I logout my session the
logout screen displays the information (date to be precise) in that locale
although I cannot make that happen in my desktop session.

I'm at a loss how this happens.
