[plasmashell] [Bug 366725] New: certain application icons (and names) in RecentDocuments/History not shown, but icons shown when typing to search

2016-08-13 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366725

Bug ID: 366725
Summary: certain application icons (and names) in
RecentDocuments/History not shown, but icons shown
when typing to search
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.7.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff)
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: pitloc...@gmx.net
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

Holds for both kickoff and kickoff fullscreen launcher.

There are certain applications, which show up their application icon and name,
when you search them by typing, but which only have a blank placeholder
(without icon and name), when you list them in "Recent Applications"
(fullscreen launcher) or "History" (normal kickoff launcher).

By clicking the blank placeholder it opens the corresponding application, but
right-clicking on the blank placeholder doesn't give the context menu (Add to
favorites, Forget Application, Forget all Applications). So these placeholders
can only be forgotten by forgetting all recent applications.

Many (perhaps all?) applications which do not show icon and name in "Recent
Applications" are kcmshell5 applications (e.g. About System, Spell Check,
Screen Locker, ...)

See screenshots. Persistent at least since Plasma 5.6

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open application launcher
2. type "about"
3. click "About System"
4. open application launcher, go to Recent Applications / History
5. Blank placeholder for "About System" can be seen

Could be reproduced on another system with plasma 5.7

[BalooWidgets] [Bug 370997] New: Include text files in the "Documents" category (e.g. for Dolphin-"Find" or for Krunner or for launchers/dashboard)

2016-10-17 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370997

Bug ID: 370997
Summary: Include text files in the "Documents" category (e.g.
for Dolphin-"Find" or for Krunner or for
launchers/dashboard)
   Product: BalooWidgets
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: pinak.ah...@gmail.com
  Reporter: pitloc...@gmx.net

Currently the "Documents" category does not include text files, I use many
plain-text files and suggest that they should be considered a Document.

In 2014 this bug was supposedly (?) been fixed, see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332021.
I am filing it again because the old one's location is now obsolete (there is
no "baloo" product anymore), but also because there has been no reaction to
existing reports of it not being fixed on forum.kde:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=133468#p363638

Perhaps this results from
if (mimeType.contains(QLatin1String("text")))
types << Type::Text;
in line 141-142 of
https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=baloo.git&a=blob&h=88bb59a01e5592abb74b1ab345bfc6765d35db57&hb=e6bd357153a790ef66dc803cd3451270e9311134&f=src%2Ffile%2Fbasicindexingjob.cpp

It would be even better, if the user could whitelist what should be defined as
document (other users would choose even .tex or .html or whatever files). It
would be best if one could adjust this in settings->Plasma Search->Document.

baloo 5.27.0-1 baloo-widgets 16.08.2-1 plasma 5.8.1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create text/plain file, which is used as a document
2. let baloo update index
3. baloosearch or "Dolphin->Find->Any" finds it
4. "Dophin->Find->Documents" or Krunner or Launcher or Dashboard doesn't find
it (as it isn't in the "Document" category)

Expected Results:
Should find a text/plain file, which is used as a document. Or offer an option
which filetypes are interpreted as documents.

I can confirm this behaviour. It is shown since Plasma 5.7.

It is always reproducible if you have several launchers (kept separate) in the
Task Manager and you open them one after the other. Then all window icons have
same colors as if they are active.
After mouse over, window icons are fixed and become inactive if they are
actually inactive.

[kholidays] [Bug 371666] New: Plasma crashes irreversibly when enabling Holidays or scroling in Holidays' list

2016-10-25 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 371666
Summary: Plasma crashes irreversibly when enabling Holidays or

   Product: kholidays
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org

Plasma crashes irreversibly when

-enabling Holidays: Goto Digital Clock Settings->Calendar->check
Holidays->Apply ->crash (see Video 2)
-scroling in Holidays' list: Goto Digital Clock Settings->Holidays and scroll
in the Holidays' list ->crash (see Video 1)

Crash means: Taskbar and widgets and wallpaper and so on vanish.
Irreversible means: Even after rebooting and entering my password on welcome
screen, I will get a very long Splash Screen, which eventually turns into a
black screen without taskbar/widgets/wallpapers. Nothing.

How to restore a working system:
rm ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc or following line in this
file:
enabledCalendarPlugins=/usr/lib/qt/plugins/plasmacalendarplugins/holidaysevents.so

I don't know if it is a KHolidays Bug or Plasma Bug or both. First of all, I
will post it here (KHolidays), if there will be no feedback, I will post it
also in Plasma.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Enable Holidays and scroll in the list without permanent crash.

[plasmashell] [Bug 356225] Panel moves to wrong screen when external monitor is connected

2016-10-25 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225

You have to delete at least ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
(perhaps also ~/.config/plasmashellrc and ~/.local/share/kscreen/).

[Because of another bug I deleted all ~/.cache ~/.config and ~/.local]

Then you have to reconfigure the appearance of plasma.

Then you will see the bug has improved: The taskbar and the wallpaper stays
when plugging in the hdmi cable.

Alas, unified output is bugged. When clicking on unified output+apply, the
output is not unified (I understand unify as "mirror output"). Only the
resolution is set to equal. There are now 2 independent screens side-by-side
(as before the unification), but the image in Settings->Display is now unified
to one screen (before there were two screens shown). So, either this image is
wrong or unified output is bugged.
One can unify (i.e. mirror) the output e.g. by enabling 2 virtual workspaces,
then unify output, then reduce to 1 virtual workspace. Then it is really
unified (mirrored), although Settings->Display says that it is NOT unified (it
offers the option to unify and not to break the outputs).

Another error (but I have to check on another screen, because this seems odd):
On each edge are missing approx. 50 pixels.

Another error: When you unplug the hdmi cable it shows the old unified
resolution, although it has (thankfully) switched to the default resolution [no
big deal, you have to reload the settings, then it shows the right resolution]

screen background is then black. Volume control does'nt work either unless I
pull out the external display, then at least everything is back to normal.

Can you please be more specific which files to delete?
KScreen -> ~/.local/share/kscreen/ ?
Plasma -> ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ?

Thank you!

[BalooWidgets] [Bug 370997] New: Include text files in the "Documents" category (e.g. for Dolphin-"Find" or for Krunner or for launchers/dashboard)

2016-10-17 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370997

Bug ID: 370997
Summary: Include text files in the "Documents" category (e.g.
for Dolphin-"Find" or for Krunner or for
launchers/dashboard)
   Product: BalooWidgets
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: pinak.ah...@gmail.com
  Reporter: pitloc...@gmx.net

Currently the "Documents" category does not include text files, I use many
plain-text files and suggest that they should be considered a Document.

In 2014 this bug was supposedly (?) been fixed, see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332021.
I am filing it again because the old one's location is now obsolete (there is
no "baloo" product anymore), but also because there has been no reaction to
existing reports of it not being fixed on forum.kde:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=133468#p363638

Perhaps this results from
if (mimeType.contains(QLatin1String("text")))
types << Type::Text;
in line 141-142 of
https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=baloo.git&a=blob&h=88bb59a01e5592abb74b1ab345bfc6765d35db57&hb=e6bd357153a790ef66dc803cd3451270e9311134&f=src%2Ffile%2Fbasicindexingjob.cpp

It would be even better, if the user could whitelist what should be defined as
document (other users would choose even .tex or .html or whatever files). It
would be best if one could adjust this in settings->Plasma Search->Document.

baloo 5.27.0-1 baloo-widgets 16.08.2-1 plasma 5.8.1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create text/plain file, which is used as a document
2. let baloo update index
3. baloosearch or "Dolphin->Find->Any" finds it
4. "Dophin->Find->Documents" or Krunner or Launcher or Dashboard doesn't find
it (as it isn't in the "Document" category)

Expected Results:
Should find a text/plain file, which is used as a document. Or offer an option
which filetypes are interpreted as documents.

[plasmashell] [Bug 366153] All Window Icons Are Intermittently Become "Active" on Task Manager Falsely

2016-10-25 Thread pitlochry via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371666

Bug ID: 371666
Summary: Plasma crashes irreversibly when enabling Holidays or
scroling in Holidays' list
   Product: kholidays
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: pitloc...@gmx.net

Plasma crashes irreversibly when

-enabling Holidays: Goto Digital Clock Settings->Calendar->check
Holidays->Apply ->crash (see Video 2)

Nothing.

How to restore a working system:
rm ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc or following line in this
file:
enabledCalendarPlugins=/usr/lib/qt/plugins/plasmacalendarplugins/holidaysevents.so

I don't know if it is a KHolidays Bug or Plasma Bug or both. First of all, I
will post it here (KHolidays), if there will be no feedback, I will post it
also in Plasma.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Enable Holidays and scroll in the list without permanent crash.

kde plasma 5.8.2
kde frameworks 5.27.0
