QtCreator crash

Captured a crash with QtCreator and a similar backtrace, see attached.

I'm beginning to think this is either a Plasma bug, or a Qt bug. I'll update
the fields accordingly

Bug ID: 473530
   Summary: KMail crashes in
QtWaylandClient::WlCallback::callback_done (...) at
qwaylandinputdevice.cpp:185 when opening a file
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.23.3
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: sudd...@gmx.at
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

KMail crashes reproducibly for me whenever a file dialog is shown, but only for
2-5 times after I rebooted my PC, afterwards it's fine.

I have the same problem with other KDE Applications an Firefox, but decided to
file it here, because it's the most reproducible and most annoying to me.

It seems to me this crash is strongly related to Wayland, because it didn't
happen on X11.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Freshly booted my system
2. Open KMail
3. Go to "File" -> "Open"

OBSERVED RESULT

KMail crashes with the attached backtrace.

EXPECTED RESULT

KMail doesn't crash and I can select a file to open.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20230816
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10
Kernel Version: 6.4.9-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-7300U CPU @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 620

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This might be irrelevant, but since it's unusual I'll mention it:
I use an external 1080p monitor with my Thinkpad T470, which runs at 120Hz. The
internal display is also used, but runs at 60Hz.

When trying to send and encrypted and signed E-Mail, KMail crashes with a
segfault and the attached backtrace.

I have not used that functionality in a long time, so it's hard to tell when it
broke. Last time I know it was working was still with XServer instead of
Wayland though.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Any chance of the fix getting backported to the LTS series?

That does reproduce it for me, if I try to click the link I end up on the
wikipedia search site.

> What is the context you're experiencing the issue in?

What do you mean by context? I had this link printed in Konsole by an
application running inside Konsole, wanted to click the link as usual but ended
up on an unexpected site. After looking more closely I noticed the link was not
correctly transferred to my browser and also Konsole didn't highlight the last
'!' character when hovering over it.

> Konsole 22.07.70

Maybe it got fixed, but the fix was not backported? Is it possible to backport
the fix to the LTS series?

[frameworks-sonnet] [Bug 451445] New: User input shows up in logging output and this can't be disabled.

2022-03-13 Thread sudden6
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451445

Bug ID: 451445
Summary: User input shows up in logging output and this can't
be disabled.
   Product: frameworks-sonnet
   Version: 5.76.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: martin.sandsm...@kde.org
  Reporter: sudd...@gmx.at

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hi all,

we're are using Sonnet in our Qt based application for spellchecking
(https://github.com/qTox/qTox/). qTox uses the global Qt log message handler
and Sonnet seems to use this one too. Unfortunately Sonnet seems to log user
input in some cases. We are looking for a way to disable this behavior, since
qTox is a privacy focused application and we don't want any user input showing
up in log files.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. enter "jkl? asdf" (without "") into a textbox which uses Sonnet for spell
checking

Note that the "?" seems to trigger this log message. Unfortunately we're only
able to reproduce this on my system, so if you have any hints on what the root
cause of this is, they would be highly appreciated.

OBSERVED RESULT

The following log output appears:

:0 : Warning: Unable to find any suggestion for "asdf"

EXPECTED RESULT

Either the user input is censored like:

:0 : Warning: Unable to find any suggestion for "*"

or there is an API function/config option to instantiate Sonnet without logging
user input.
I understand that logging user input is crucial for debugging Sonnet, but we
should be able to disable this on a per Application or even per input form
basis.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.12.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We're going to workaround this issue by filtering the respective log message,
but nevertheless it would be good to fix this properly.

I tried wiping the caches, but this also didn't help.
Do you need anything else?

This bug makes plasmashell unusable for me.

Created attachment 97185
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=97185=edit
backtrace+last console output

I ran plasmashell in konsole with gdb, as soon as it froze I hit Ctrl+C and
made a backtrace with "thread apply all backtrace". This is the last output of
plasmashell and the backtrace.

[plasmashell] [Bug 359046] Panel covers bottom part of maximized window after monitor is plugged out and in again

I can confirm this behaviour on a Thinkpad T440p with an external Monitor
connected (1920x1080, VGA).
The panel sometimes overlaps fullscreen windows.

[plasmashell] [Bug 359324] New: plasmashell often hangs randomly, sometimes with broken window preview

2016-02-12 Thread sudden6 via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359324

Bug ID: 359324
Summary: plasmashell often hangs randomly, sometimes with
broken window preview
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.5.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: thereisntausefuladdressl...@yahoo.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org

plasmashell hangs at least every hour for an unknown reason. Kwin is still
running and working as expected, I can move windows, switch through them with
Alt+Tab and run commands from krunner (Alt+F2). I can't click anything on the
panel, it simply doesn't react. Sometimes as plasmashell hangs it shows a
broken preview in the taskbar, but I don't have a screenshot of this.

To workaround this I can kill plasmashell and restart it and it continues to
work for a time.

If I run plasmashell in a konsole window, the output doesn't show anything
directly related with the hang. But I get errors like:

QXcbConnection: XCB error: 2 (BadValue), sequence: 8291, resource id:
140509189, major code: 142 (Unknown), minor code: 3
QXcbConnection: XCB error: 2 (BadValue), sequence: 8370, resource id:
125829124, major code: 142 (Unknown), minor code: 3
QXcbConnection: XCB error: 2 (BadValue), sequence: 8439, resource id: 18874372,
major code: 142 (Unknown), minor code: 3

If I move the mouse pointer over a tab in the taskbar.

I made a core dump with gcore, but I'm not sure if I should upload it.
(compressed 13,2MB, uncompressed 3,2GB).

Reproducible: Sometimes

OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160209) (x86_64)
