2024-09-22 Thread tguen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493509

Bug ID: 493509
Summary: ctrl + left/right no longer stops at punctuation
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 24.08.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: part
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tguenther@pm.me
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. go to configure > settings > text navigation and uncheck "enable camel case
cursor movement"
2. paste a url in the editor, then use ctrl + left/right to jump over a "word"

OBSERVED RESULT
Cursor jumps over entire url, only stopping at the next white space

EXPECTED RESULT
Cursor jumps over letters and stops at punctuation characters, i.e. jumps from
the start of a url over "https" and stops before ":"

[kate] [Bug 463139] New: Plasma session restore no longer opens files in kwrite

2022-12-16 Thread tguen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463139

Bug ID: 463139
Summary: Plasma session restore no longer opens files in kwrite
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 22.12.0
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kwrite
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tg...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Not sure if this is actually specific to kwrite, that's generally all I use.

Plasma is configured to restore my previous session on start, so all of my
files that were open in kwrite before shutdown should be reopened. Some time in
the last month or so, kwrite got a new splash screen that shows a list of
recent documents, and it broke session restore. Instead of reopening my files,
it reopens the same number of kwrite windows, but only showing the splash
screen. It also always shows the toolbars which I've hidden.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. go to System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Desktop Session, set 'when
logging in' to 'restore last session'
2. open any file in kwrite
3. go to the settings menu and hide the toolbars
4. reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
After rebooting, kwrite displays toolbars and list of recent documents

EXPECTED RESULT
After rebooting, kwrite displays previously opened file and toolbars remain
hidden

It doesn't disappear for me. If the checkbox is not meant to be used to enable
Bluetooth, it is functionally a button and should probably be replaced with
one. Either way, I'd prefer if I could enable Bluetooth by clicking in the same
place I did to disable it.

[kwin] [Bug 429872] New: JOSM subwindows are not updated after being reopened

2020-11-30 Thread tguen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429872

Bug ID: 429872
Summary: JOSM subwindows are not updated after being reopened
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.20.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tg...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In JOSM (Java OpenStreetMap editor), there are several subwindows that are
opened when performing actions like downloading or uploading map data. These
windows work properly the first time they are opened, but every subsequent
time, the window's contents are not updated when they are opened. Interacting
with a widget in the subwindow, like scrolling in a listbox or panning a map,
will cause that widget to be updated. Resizing the subwindow will cause all of
it's contents to be updated.

This only occurs in Kwin (X11), even with the compositor disabled. I've tried
Gnome & LXQt, but the issue doesn't occur for either. Haven't tried Kwin on
Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open JOSM & add an imagery layer so you know where the camera is (Imagery >
OSM Carto)
2. click File > Download Data - a subwindow with slippy map opens with the view
of the main window selected
3. click Cancel button to close subwindow, move the camera in the main window,
then reopen it

OBSERVED RESULT
It is only updated after performing an action that causes the subwindow to be
redrawn, such as panning, zooming, or selecting an area in the slippy map, or
resizing the subwindow.

EXPECTED RESULT
The slippy map should be updated to show the new camera location when reopened.

I set my keyboard's sleep key to turn my screen off. This worked fine when I
was using Nvidia drivers with my old GTX 960. At some point I replaced it with
a Radeon 5600XT with Mesa drivers. Immediately after this change, pressing the
sleep key shuts the screen off as usual, but it turns itself back on after 1-10
seconds. I have the same problem if I run `xset dpms force off` from a
terminal, or if I wait 10 minutes for the screen to turn off automatically.

I booted Kubuntu from a usb drive and the issue still occurs. I also tried
Ubuntu and Xubuntu, and the problem does not occur on Gnome or XFCE.

---

May be related to #423035, but that specifies using a shortcut. My issue occurs
any time the screen turns off.

May be related to #348082, although that is old and only mentions the lock
screen.

A vertical panel may not be wide enough to show the graphs side by side. In the
attached image, the graphs are tiny, but the panel is still too narrow for all
3 graphs side by side so the last one is cut off at the edge of the screen. The
settings menu should have the option to stack graphs vertically instead of
horizontally to prevent this (not only for circular graphs, it would be nice
for bar graphs as well).

If the widget is on the desktop, I can make it any width/height I want. In a

panel about 50px wide, and the widget is square. I'd like it to be about 2-3 as
tall but I have no way to adjust it. It would be nice to have a configurable
height/width for vertical/horizontal panels in the settings menu, or maybe have
resize handles like spacers in the panel do.

the default (although they appear to be the same). I have tried resizing the

reopening, the properties dialog reverts to minimum size. It seems there are
two problems: the dialog size is not remembered, and the minimum size is too
small.

Bug ID: 414879
Summary: After closing a window in background mode, background
mode shortcut is disabled for any other background
mode windows
   Product: konsole

  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: tg...@tutanota.com

SUMMARY
If multiple background mode windows are open, closing one of them results in
all others not responding to the show/hide shortcut. Opening another background
mode window makes the broken windows work again (they toggle visibility when
shortcut is pressed).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open multiple windows in background mode Use show/hide shortcut to confirm
it works.
2. Close one of the background mode windows.
3. Try the shortcut again. It will no longer work.
4. Open another background mode window.
5. Try the shortcut again. It will work even for the window that did not work
before.

Open an svg file (e.g. /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/kdeconnect.svgz)
and zoom in until the image is bigger than the window. Scroll all the way to
the bottom or right and you will notice that you cannot see the edge of the
image. This also occurs if you have a large svg file at 100% zoom.

Note that fixing #336436 would fix this as well.

It's not returning to a previous state, it's configured not to use this state
at all.

It sounds like the patch was rejected but the idea behind it was not.

To uninstall kwin scripts, you must ironically click the button that says 'Get
New Scripts' (which is certainly not what I want to actually do), then filter
by installed. There should be a button to remove the currently selected script
in the kcm list.

I actually came here to report that it's not possible to remove scripts, which
I had been intending to do for quite a while. I finally figured out how to do
it by accident while I was writing that report. The way it currently works is
very unintuitive.
