hy

i tried it while logged in to plug/unplug external VGA monitor.. but for the
moment panel keeps on correct screen > laptop screen... strange... i only
notice, that mouse jumps around if i plug/unplug external monitor.

i don't know, if that helps, but does panel position do have to do also with
laptop state? i mean, if i unplug external monitor i normally set my laptop
into standby mode.. use it later w/o external monitor, put it again in standby
and use it after with external monitor and sometimes then panel position is on
external monitor and i need to restart plasma stuff...

hey

i'm on plasma 5.5.4 and this is still not fixed...

i still use:
kquitapp5 plasmashell ; /usr/bin/plasmashell --shut-up &
right after connecting or disconnecting my external monitor.

i still use nv grafic driver, cause current nvidia and also latest is buggy

[plasmashell] [Bug 356225] Panel moves to wrong screen when external monitor is connected

2016-02-04 Thread thomi_ch via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225

--- Comment #14 from thomi_ch <i...@win-soft.ch> ---
hey

i found another workaround, which works for my installation so far...

if only laptop screen available, panel position is correct...
1. plugin ext. monitor > panel switches to ext. monitor
2. go to system settings / display and monitor
2.1 select the laptop screen and disable it > now only ext. screen is working
with the panel on it.
2.2 select again laptop screen, enable AND set it as primary display and apply
the change..

> panel is back to laptop screen...

it testet it multiple time, and each time it worked...

hope this can also save the day for others ;)

have a similar problem

have a fresh install of 15.10 with nouveau graphic driver... have a asus laptop
with Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller and Nvidia GK107M
[GeForce GT 650M], so far so good...

i also use kubuntu backport to get latest updates... so i'm on plasmashell
5.5.3 in the moment.

if i plugin the second monitor (VGA), the main panel switches to VGA display...
and trying to move it back to laptop (primary) will disapear the main panel...
to get main panel back, i need to logout/login with connected VGA... then main
panel comes back to VGA display...

with testing around in display management to move position of VGA display to
top, right, left and so on.. sometimes, main panel goes back to primary laptop
display.. sometiems i neet to unify the displays and unplug VGA to get main
panel back to laptop display...

way tricky.. hope this problem can be found and fixed..

thanks
