[krita] [Bug 493144] Gradient preset in XYZ space converted to sRGB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493144 wolthera changed: What|Removed |Added CC||griffinval...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from wolthera --- Yes, this is deliberate, because I kept running into compatibility issues with Inkscape when it came to XYZ values (like, their ranges were scaled weird at the time, I couldn't make sense of it). Given Inkscape is one of the very few applications to read icc-color, I decided that compatibility was more important. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 434618] color space not found
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434618 wolthera changed: What|Removed |Added Platform|Microsoft Windows |macOS (DMG) OS|Microsoft Windows |macOS --- Comment #6 from wolthera --- Yeah, the main problem is what to do with untagged images. Thing is, for some reason Apple decided MacOS should show untagged images in their new DCI P3 color space in all their viewers. However, Krita, being color managed, loads these as sRGB (as that's what is currently understood as the 'default' computer colorspace, if there's none known). This confused manga tengu, as that meant all their images looked way less colourful in Krita. So for them, using the copy-paste dialog to switch the image to DCI P3 by default is more helpful. (And then they need to be exported untagged, to make sure the image viewer and the like will show the same as in Krita) On windows with an untagged Adobe RGB image, you have a similar problem: Untagged images are loaded with sRGB profile, which means that Adobe RGB images, being larger than sRGB like DCI P3 is, will look less colourful. Generally, what this needs is a unified way to handle untagged images, and a unified way to guide artists to export tagged/untagged... I'm shifting this back to macOS, because while it *is* cross-platform as an issue, macOS' DCI P3 choices make it more obvious on that platform. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 492374] File corrupted (file format cannot be parsed message), unrecoverable so far :(
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=492374 wolthera changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |NOT A BUG --- Comment #3 from wolthera --- Ah, that's great to hear! So, the most common reason for corruption is that the saving process got interrupted. This can either be because the program was forced to shut down while it was still saving or the device ran out of power. In the past, it could also happen because the harddisk was failing or anti-virus interfered somehow. These latter two don't happen on phones and tablets because the machine and operating system is build differently. Corruption can also happen when you copy files from one place to the next, but didn't let it finish properly, or in the case of USB sticks, when you don't dutifully select "remove device safely" before you remove the usb stick. I don't think those were the cause here, but just so you know :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 492374] File corrupted (file format cannot be parsed message), unrecoverable so far :(
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=492374 wolthera changed: What|Removed |Added CC||griffinval...@gmail.com Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO Status|REPORTED|NEEDSINFO --- Comment #1 from wolthera --- Hi, This file is so significantly corrupted it can't even be recognized as a zip file. If I try a zip recovery tool, it can only find the following files: copying: mimetype (19 bytes) copying: maindoc.xml (3426 bytes) copying: documentinfo.xml (423 bytes) copying: preview.png (84823 bytes) Which means that there's no layer data or even the mergedimage data inside. Krita by default saves backup files, these are suffixed with a tilde (~), so in your case that'd be Jon.kra~ . These files cannot be seen by Krita, you will have to find them yourself on the system, and then rename it so there's no tilde at the end (According to the setting data you attached, they can be found in /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.krita/files). Krita should be able to open it then. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 492146] Some colors do not exist for blending
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=492146 --- Comment #5 from wolthera --- Hi, I suspect what you're experiencing is what we call "banding" (as in, gradients become bands of color). This is because you're trying to use a linear profile with 8bit color depth, and there's no enough bit depth in 8bits to be able to have a visually smooth gradient. You will need 16bit at minimum to get a smooth greyscale in a linear profile, or convert to an sRGB trc profile. To do so, go to image -> convert image color space. There, either choose: 1. RGBA, 8bit integer/channel, sRGB-elle-v2-srgbtrc.icc 2. _or_ RGBA, 16bit integer/channel, sRGB-elle-v2-g10.icc 1. is the more conventional setup, 2 is a lot heavier on the computer but the gradients tend to mix nicer. See https://docs.krita.org/en/general_concepts/colors/linear_and_gamma.html for details. If this doesn't fix your issue, we'll need more information on what is going on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

What I suspect you are saying is that the text editing window doesn't open after text creation. I cannot reproduce this here. What I recommend you to do is to first check if the text editing window didn't get minimized. [krita] [Bug 487753] Krita Crash again and again.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487753 --- Comment #14 from wolthera --- Alright, the reason I asked is that we've adjusted the install package recently, so if it were a krita-plus package from the krita.org website, it might have to do with that, but looking at it, the krita-plus package isn't up yet. Another problem could be that the package is damaged somehow, but normally that'd mean you couldn't install it at all... (If you had installed by portable, this might've been the problem, but you haven't... You don't have to install by portable, by the way.) I'm still not sure what is causing the crash. The first one seems to happen here: https://invent.kde.org/qt/qt/qtbase/-/blob/kde/5.15/src/widgets/widgets/qstatusbar.cpp?ref_type=heads#L627 and the second one here: https://invent.kde.org/qt/qt/qtbase/-/blob/kde/5.15/src/widgets/widgets/qmainwindow.cpp#L1259 (You don't have to do anything with these links, I'm basically thinking out loud so my fellow programmers can see what I've checked). For example, if you go into view and toggle "soft-proofing" does that change the colors to what you expected? Or perhaps the lut docker? If so, you may have accidentally turned this on, and not noticed while painting, in which case you will have to turn this feature off, and fix the colors manually. Normally, if you do this in Krita, it will select the PSD export filter for you and save as a proper PSD file. If you renamed and added an extension inside of the file browser, the file browser doesn't know what a PSD file is, so it cannot turn it into a proper PSD file (instead it stays the old file type, but then with a funny name). Krita in turn will get confused if you try to load a file that has a PSD extension but is not. In short: if you want to save PSD files, do so in Krita, not by renaming files. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Why you aren't seeing it in photoshop is probably because photoshop has some kind of dithering for it's brushes. In Krita such dithering is only enabled for the color smudge brush engine and gradient tool. Regardless, if you want to work in linear color, you should use a higher bitdepth, as not only brushes but also filters, transforms and blending modes are affected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
