The packages that disappear specifically are those with a corresponding `couldn't find package for` line. When viewing the search results, there is no way to find any of the packages in that list. Newer releases of KDE though. OS: Kubuntu 19.10 64-bit KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5 KDE Frameworks 5.62.0 QT Version: 5.12.4 Kernel: 5.3.0-62-generic It appears to be related to when discover has found packages for update and corrupts (?) some sort of cache while the search is active and some sort of background process (apt) is working.
