[Plasma Vault] [Bug 444451] Dropdown options don't have "Unlock and open"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51 --- Comment #9 from Nate Graham --- Sorry you don't like the design. I think it is fine the way it is. Moving your eyes an inch to the right doesn't seem like a huge problem, and if we duplictaed the default action in the popup, we would certainly get complaints about the redundancy. If we *removed* the default action and put everything in the popup, we would get complaints about discoverability and extra required clicks. Design is a compromise between use cases, and I don't think there is any way we can change this to accommodate your preferences without regressing things for everyone else. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Plasma Vault] [Bug 444451] Dropdown options don't have "Unlock and open"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51 --- Comment #8 from David --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #7) > You don't need to click on a vault's list item to select it first. You can > just click the "Unlock and open" button for whichever vault you want to > open, which is even faster and more direct than what you are doing in that > video. I realize one doesn't need to click the vault to then click the right-side button, but the point is: one finds a vault by looking at its name. If you are to open a vault, you must first locate it, and the natural way of doing it is by following the left side. Once you have visually located it, you then proceed to open it, and that implies a large jump to the right side and making sure that your movement still aligns with the vault's space as you move the mouse there (either that, or a visual inspection as you move the mouse starting from the right side that the item you're pointing at is the correct one, for which you need to verify on the left side). I'm pretty sure that if you setup 3 or more vaults or USB drives and ask random people to open the one in the middle, they would gravitate towards either the left-click menu or an awkward move to the right like in the video. If you are browsing a folder list structure in dolphin or krusader for example, you don't put the 'expand' or 'open' button at the right, you expect it to be close to the start of the name rather than make the user first locate the folder and then move the pointer to the right across the horizontal space that contains the folder. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51 --- Comment #7 from Nate Graham --- You don't need to click on a vault's list item to select it first. You can just click the "Unlock and open" button for whichever vault you want to open, which is even faster and more direct than what you are doing in that video. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51 --- Comment #6 from David --- Created attachment 142971 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=142971=edit vault_mouse_trajectory And here's a video so that you can verify that the drop-down is a shorter trajectory and more visually intuitive compared to the right button if you have more than 1 vault. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Can you attach a screenshot? My bad, this was also removed, and IMO it was useful too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Can you attach a screenshot? > > > which IMO is easier to click > This cannot possibly be true. The button shown on the list item requires one > click, because it's always visible; the buttons in the dropdown necessarily > require two clicks--one to show the dropdown, another to click on it. The button is at the right side, which is quite distant from the vault's name and icon. The dropdown shows at the left, right where the vault's name and icon are placed. I usually select the vault that I want by visually locating it's name. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
