I just installed openSUSE Leap in a VM and run the current 6.0.0 Linux AppImage
bundle. I cannot see a crash here.

AAAH, there it is, thank you! Latest try with autorotate *enabled* again
failed, though the test data were just 5-6 photos, none of which needed to be
rotated. Uhm, strange thing... :-/

Back to the issue: unfortunately the answer is still yes, this bundle behaves
much worse than the installed version, since it segfaults into
/usr/lib64/libc.so.6 already upon initialization, therefore I am completely
unable to test it when loading photos from my smartphone.

As regards the installed version, contrary to my latest and rather optimistic
news, I am sorry to confirm that the problem in topic systematically persists.

I noticed that after every crash digikam leaves behind it a temporary file
named according to the general pattern JpegRotator-XX.digikamtempfile.jpg,
the X's being varying alphanumeric characters; notwithstanding its extension,
it is not recognizable as a jpg file. Can this be of some help?

A final question: I would like to test with autorotating disabled, but I do not
remember the place inside digikam configuration where this option can be
changed, so could you please remind this to me?

Thank you in advance as usual and kind regards,
Andrea Malfagia

I am about to to on holiday, anyway I am bringing my laptop with me, so I'll
download the new bundle and let you know. Meanwhile I got a lot of system
updates and the problem with the installed openSUSE package appears to be gone
away.

(BUMP)

Any news? I profit from this bump message to observe that the two last
backtraces I sent, i.e. the ones generated from the bundle, once run from my HD
and once from Kamarada Live DVD, are both relevant to glXGetFBConfigs() from
/usr/lib64/libGL.so.1

Just my two cents for a hint...

The only problem is that since Leap 42.1 they dropped the provision of live

Well, what could I do then? The next idea that comes to my mind is to test the
bundle with a live openSUSE of exactly the same version which is installed on
my HD, provided that one exists. Could it have some sense?

I found some time to fiddle a bit with Mageia 5.1 Live: after a live
installation of the missing libopenAl library (and also of gdb) the bundle,
launched from my HD, more or less runs over it, i.e. I was able to copy some
pictures from the smartphone to the Images folder of the live Mageia filesystem
without crashing upon program exit.
I dare to claim that this test excludes any hardware incompatibility from my
laptop, therefore the culprit should be somewhere inside my openSUSE
installation on HD. Do you confirm that also the latest bundle version you sent
does not embed any libc version?

I ran a quick test late at night with Mageia 5.1 KDE4 live DVD: no libc
segmentation fault, but I think that the bundle stops earlier, because it does
not find libopenal.so.1 :-(
Apart from this, I could not run it with debug option, because it does not find
dbg: I suppose I should either install it on the volatile file system which the
live DVD creates, or somehow chroot to the file system on hard disk...

No nothing to change in libs PATH.

It crash about XCB and co. This is X11 + OpenGL.

Do you use Wayland window sub system or X11. AppImage only support X11 for the

Here it do not crash. I tested under Mageia 5 and 6. The AppImage is compiled

2017-06-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381193

--- Comment #11 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
The 64 bits AppImage bundle for Linux is done and will be available in few
minutes at usual place :

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzeiVr-byqt5Y0tIRWVWelRJenM

This take time, because i update last Gphoto2, OpenCV, Qt, QtWebKit, QtAv, and
KF5 to last stable versions. This take all the week end to found the right
settings, patches, and customizations to be bundled properly.

This is the current DK implementation from git/master (next 5.7.0), including
few fixes comparing to 5.6.0. no more.

Please test and report. Thanks in advance

*GASP!* Unfortunately not, I have only this openSUSE on my notebook. What kind
of checks could I perform on this library? The current versions comes from
glibc v. 2.22-4.6.3 distribution-specific package :-/

This is really strange. It crash in libc. This is the only component from the
system that we use in the bundle. libc is not integrated in the bundle.

Did you have anither Linux system avaiable to test. I suspect a dysfunction
from your openSuse (perhaps a wrong update).

Mmm... unable to try it: after chmod'ing the file, I launch it from a console

It crash in libjpeg while JPEG lossless rotation.

2 possibilities :

- your JPEG files are corrupted
- your libjpeg depend of device acceleration which can be problematic.

The AppImage Linux bundles of 5.6.0 use a cleaned libjpeg (no hardware
support). Try with this version to see if problem disappear. The bundle is here
