We have already plenty of format support through plugins, and especially one using ImageMagick. If a new proprietary format must be supported, this must be done trhough ImageMagick, not digiKam directly. So report this problem to ImageMagick project. There is also another possible to ask to ImageMagick if a loader is under development to support this raster format. digiKam as a delegate image loader using Image Magick to support exotic image formats. The most important software component to be able to extract preview is Exiv2. We use this library in digiKam. So reporting this wish to Exiv2 team will be a plus.
