This seems to be related to Bug 355259, as kdenlive throws exactly the same
error, but for some reason the bug was marked as invalid. 

Just checked today (2016-04-07) and it still fails with the same error.

Crash when selecting the project bin

I re-compiled mlt, kdenlive and movit, enabling debugging symbols.

I can reliably crash kdenlive just by clicking on a track in an empty project,
whereby activating the project monitor.
Attached is a backtrace of the failure.

Does this happen when movit is disabled? (restart required)

Can you test movit-git from AUR?
